Dr. Curtis can you tell us if this helps with headaches? Headaches that kind of jumps around from the center of your head to the temples and also eyes, and sometimes down the nose. And if so how to use this
wgat tool is this?
Straight to the point and simple- THANK YOU for this video!!! 🙏
Beautiful video from a beautiful soul! Looking forward to rewatching your previous videos.
How often can you do this?
I have your 10 Watt device. How long can I safely leave it on one spot. I have an L5 herniated disc.
1 minute is ideal, but 2 minutes is okay
What is the irradiance of the device? All it says is 10Watt optical output.
lzrultrabright.com/red-light-therapy-most-powerful-led-1000-12/
The power density is irradiance.
What about the depth for joints. Laser penetrates deeper.
Actually laser does not penetrate deeper. Depth is dependent on two things, wavelength and dose. The higher the dose with the ideal wavelength produces the ideal result.
Sir i have the physiotherapy red heating lamp that i use in my room would my dog be safe to be exposed with that as well?
Which red physio lamp? Some of them are quite hot.
@@curtisturchin3416 the red bulb thing. It's hot when you are close but can you verify that there are also benefits just being in a room with it on?
The dose is the important issue. For example, if you have a headache, is 1/10 of aspirin going to do anything? Probably not. Will there be benefit due to the miniscule exposure? probably not therapeutic but not harmful.
Thanks for this helpful info. Can you Please provide tips about where and what to buy and for which body part? Some say the head is the best and somehow triggers mitochondria in other regions as well.
Studies show even just treating the brain provides the same benefits as full body treatrments. The main thing in choosing a unit is to buy one that is powerful. Low dose units take too long to be used on a regular basis.
My Neuropathy has spread over my Entire body!!!
What staerted/caused it? Toxic exposure, antibioitcs, chemo, radiation, frostbite, diabetes, etc?
You present no data to back up your statements.
Everything I say is based on data. But most people just want the facts and do not want me to list journal citations for everything. If you wajnt date for something let me know. EmaIl me as I cannot load attachments here.
Have you offered your training in Canada
No, sorry. During Covid I stopped teaching and got so busy, I have not picked it up again. Might start again in about one year. I have spent time in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Rockies and in and around Toronto. Where are you? Curtis
@@curtisturchin3416 - I’m 45 min west of Toronto midway towards Niagara Falls
@@curtisturchin3416 - my company has a startup establishing Light Therapy clinics for Dr og ailments.
Can I use it directly after surgery? Or do I need to wait? I got liposuction and I’ll be getting skin removal next. Hoping to speed healing.
Yes, you can. If you have bandages, use the light around the perimeter of the bandage. The light will expand as it penetrates. Use lower doses multiple times per day.
The confusion only increases when doctors promote red light as NIR radiation NIR states officially at 750 no however old standards had NIR starting at 700 nm
Technically that is true. But most IR devices appear to somewhat red as well. Let's face it, that is easier for people's brains. They are not technical.
Is this video for red light therapy? Thanks
Red and Infrared light therapy.
@@curtisturchin3416 thanks so much ,I just bought a lifepro Biloxi wand to use on my dog that has bad arthritis pain . I pray it works 🙏
I am trying to decide between 2 devices. Below is the breakdown of wavelengths. Which would you choose for fat loss, skin, eyes, general health? A or B? A.) Irradiance 137, 450 LED lights. ≈4% 450nm (disinfectant) ≈4% 610nm, ≈4% 630nm, ≈4% 810nm, ≈4% 830nm, ≈40% 660nm, ≈40% 850nm B.) Irradiance 87. 300 LED lights. 25% 630 25% 660 17% 810 16% 830 17% 850
The one with the most optical power. Even the right wavelength, if underpowered, is ineffective.
B
Would you buy a device that only had 660 and 850?
Sure, as long as it has sufficient power.
Is treating the frontal cortex for a long time (more than 30 seconds) dangerous?
Which unit do you have? How many milliwatts?
@@curtisturchin3416 I have a Platinum Led Biomax 450, spec say 180mw/cm2. I have been using it for extended duration, I usually do 10-15 minutes front body, 10-15 minutes back, 5-10 minutes back of the neck, 5-10 minutes forehead (while covering eyes), 5 minutes eyes from far away (while closed), and sometimes 5-10 minutes of mouth and teeth. When I do the forehead and back of the neck, I try to be as close as comfortably possible. I have noticed improvements in all areas, even my vision has improved. I don't feel any bad side effects but after watching your videos I am concerned that I might be overdoing it, are there any serious dangers and what are they?
It is not dangerous but to be really effective, treat the carotid arteries and the gut instead of doing more on the forehead.
@@curtisturchin3416 Thank you for the insight. I would love to see more long form content from you, there are very few experts on this and you seem super knowledgeable.
@@tsotnetunes Good suggestion. In about one month I will start producing a new video every week. I just have been way too busy. Thank you!
Doctor you opened stating that your video is a "very accurate" idea of where the research is going. Then you stated that the blood flow "takes a huge amount of photons into the brain." Just how far will the blood flow carry these photons in the body? Are you sure about these statements?
Studies have shown that the largest artery is the aorta, second largest is the carotids. This takes the blood into the Circle of Willis where it is distributed to a vast amount of brain tissue.
I ve read that 810 nm wavelenght unfolds its potential and achieves all these benefits only when treated in contact with the skin.
That is NOT true. The FACT is that all wavelengths need direct skin contact for MAXIMUM penetration. The inverse square law clearly shows that the farther away you move from the skin the less penetration there is. But, you need to stay above the skin with an infected wood or some other type of skin infection.
That is correct. Also, 980nm is used to target a different chromophore (water), which is another mechanism involved in PBM. See doctor Gerald Pollack and his book ‘the fourth phase of water’.
@@imperfectillustration6261 But 980 has a problem. In higher doses it gets hot. So doses must be lower, so it is MUCH slower to get physiological results.
Then which wavelength is best or good for no contact?
I have the LZR UltraBright Infrared Light Therapy and Red Light Therapy Device 10 Watts and it’s not doing much for me! Also, the main problem is the smell, it smells bad
Donna - what type of problem are you treating and what is your treatment time and frequency? What does it smell like? How old is your unit? Curtis
@@curtisturchin3416 I just got the unit! As soon as I opened the box I could smell it! It’s like bad Chinese rubber products with some kind of chemical, I am not sure how to explain it. Before I start the return process, do you think the smell will go away? It’s not healthy for me to breathe it if it stays like this. Thank you for your response
10 Watt is not much.
10W is not a lot for power, but 10W of optical output is. You can also get an with 20W if you want really fast treatment.,
Thank you! 🌸
My pup is beige. And 18 lbs how often do I do this. He limps on his right hind leg ?
twice per day for one week, then daily
I'm gonna open my panel and switch out some diodes to 810 nm.
That will help.
Any suggestions for using a pad rather than a wand? Dog is comfortable lying with pad on her back. Thanks
That works if it is a short haired dog. If thick, then the photons will not penetrate the fur.
@@curtisturchin3416 thank you
Plants use two different specific wavelengths for photosynthesis I and II, For animals / humans wavelength and dose must be important
Research documents that 810 and 660 (or something close to that) are the most effective wavelength for deep penetration and low heat output.
Do you have any results of this helping eliminate cervical disc herniations?
Yes, but it must be combined with self-traction, posture changes, and exercise. Curtis
@@curtisturchin3416 thank you for your response!
What about 1060? Platinum LED just came out with 1060. 4% of the light panel dedicated to that wave. What about 850?
1060 produces more heat so it is less penetrating. 850 is better.
Hey Dr. what are your thoughts on yellow and purple LED light therapy? Are they as effective as they claim? Purple supposedly supports scarring and yellow eliminates facial redness. I recently got a machine and I’m just now finding this video!
The problem with those two wavelengths is they do not have deep penetration. There are studies of these wavelengths and others like blue and they conclude that they are good wavelengths but the advantage over red and infrared is very minimals. So, they do help but they are very ineffective with other types of healing and pain.
Do you recommend any panels?
Marisa - most of the panels are grow lights marketed as healing lights. The problem is that standing a few inches to a few feet away DRAMATICALLY lowers the penetration. For example 6 inches away is 1/10 the dose of direct contact.
Thanks for the suggestion,
Fascinating,,, would love to hear conditions treated with light and brain tap combined... ???
PEMF may mean Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field therapy..
Correct. I mis-spoke
Does 810 build collagen ?
Yes
Stanley - How many mW (milliwatts) is your Q laser? I an not familiar with that device.
I have a Q laser which also has two attachments, one a far infra red (808) and the other a near (606). How would you advise using this on my cat and what duration of time eg 30 seconds. she is always damaging her joints and tissues by jumping from fences? These lasers were very expensive and are class 4 class 3a and class 3 b.
Great video. Thanks for the info
My pleasure, More coming.
Once is enough. Twice is ok but be careful when on the skull.
How many times a day can you do this?
Will this light cure fleas
So far, research has not been done on light therapy and flea control. Sorry!
Thank you ✌🏻
You are welcome!
I will soon have a Celluma Face device (blue, red and infrared LEDs) and wonder if it would do anything for one of our cats who has a liver tumour? She was given a few months to live back in November, but is still currently stable with normal eating, drinking, sleeping, toileting, etc. She is on liver support supplements (otherwise, I think she would have passed away by now).
By stimulating the cat with light therapy, it will improve the uptake of any supplements or drugs you give it. So, use it over the areas that you want to heal with your supplements.
@@curtisturchin3416 thank you. will it be safe for a cat with a tumour?

Reg. fat loss: We don't want to lose fat from the face, so how can I prevent that from happening if I use this regularly? Thank you
The effect is most profound locally. So, if you treat the areas of concern, it should not effect other areas like the face. Hope that helps.
What accounts for the deeper penetration of 810 vs. 850? I would think the longer 850 would penetrate deeper than 810. I understand the issue with heat, but strictly in terms of depth of penetration, what say you?
Think of the number of photons that are available to penetrate deeply. Now assume that many of them are absorbed more at the skin level because they are so hot that they heat the skin. Thus, they stay at a superficial level because they create heat superficially and are absorbed by the skin. Hence they cannot penetrate deeply. That is why surgical lasers are often 900-12,00nm because they want heat to thermally cut the skin. Make sense? Dr. T
@@curtisturchin3416 Thank you. Yes, this seems plausible. What about attenuation by other substances such as water, hemoglobin or melanin. Is one wavelength more or less susceptible to that phenomenon, and why?
@@scottsdalemedicalmassage
@@scottsdalemedicalmassage The longer the wavelength the higher the absorption by water. The simple rule is 600-900 nm is best. Within that range, 660 and 810 show the best results in clinical trials on animals and humans.
There are multiple mechanisms involved in PBM, water absorption of infrared photons is often overlooked.
hi Curtis, how are you? And how is the patient using it? Where he is applying, for how long each treatment and how often? Thanks PS: maybe I should call you
Hi Dr. Claudio, He is doing well. On the “Brain” videos there is a testimonial from him. I will send you the brain protocol. Hope you are doing well!!! Curtis
Hi Curtis, how are you? How often can we use it for skin rejuvenation?
I saw research saying 633 and 850 was the best for skin. That's why I came to this video because I also saw study saying 810 and 660
In terms of deep penetration, 810 is best. In terms of skin, 660 is best. HOWEVER, the majority of 810 nm photons are absorbed by the skin, so 810 is good for skin as well. The problem is that 633, 645, 850 nm diodes are CHEAP and 810 nm diodes are more expensive (810 are REALLY expensive), so manufacturers us the cheap ones and claim they are the best. But, research supports 810 and 660.. Any wavelength works but the higher the power, the more one wants 810 and 660 because they are both COOL and DEEP. At higher power the 850 and above get too hot. That is one reason that low power units use 633 and 850 as they are cheap.
What wavelength should I use to help heal anal fissure
810 and 660 are best but if one, 810. However, any IR or red wavelength is better than nothing
