this pc has not usb ports sorry for my english
This looks great. Can you tell me what controller you used for this project?
Esp32 running fluidnc. Thanks for the view.
hello good job I bought like this machine I assembled all the accessories of the machine I still have the gun I have small parts with it I do not know how to assemble it thank you for explaining to me well
What gear tooth do you use on the racks? Mine X is ball screw and the Y is currently belt driven and would like to switch over and get away from the belts.
Hi.... good choice 👌 I've changed a few times but I went with 30 teeth gear. Also I've got 10:1 planetary gearboxes. Gives best speed and torque for the size of motor.
@ What is the speed like? I am wanting to be able to switch the head for a spindle or a laser. Eventually would like to be able to mill aluminum and mild steel.
9000mm per min Should be fast enough 😆
Some tire-change shops use nitrogen generators. No idea if those can be misused for plasma cutting.
Hey Rob you ordered the board and I’m assuming the laser source from SkyFire any reason you don’t want to order the servos from them? The prices are much less then 1k per driver/motor
Did you buy any gas control systems, can we skip it?
hey, thanks for your video! Do you have a link for the mount front bracket holding the spindle? I got mine from Sainsmart but I have the feeling it is bad. Thx
Hi Yeah it's from a UK company called cnc4you. cnc4you.co.uk

Hi Yeah it's from a UK company called cnc4you. cnc4you.co.uk
Hmmm did check their site and gearbox alone cost over $100
What happen, is the cnc completed? when is the next video
At the moment I'm not doing anything. I have a ruptured bicep tendon. As soon as I can I will
Would you be willing to share your Config settings for the closed loop stepper? If not I understand. Thank you. I have now been able to get the 2DCuthead software to work bench top but not the motors (Stepper OnLine NEMA 23 CL57T) despite manufacture and SkyFire diagrams. I am trying to see if I have missed something else in the config sys. Thank you.
Is the software comes with controller and is it free, And also do they send products to India?
I'm sure they'll send it anywhere. Yes the software is free as it comes with the board. Useless without the board. Thanks
The hole cut in the profile is not centered, there is a very large inertia when rotating. It would be nice to stiffen it up a bit.
Hello, saw your video. very nice build. can you give me some key data about the machine, gear ratio is 10:1 on which rpm are the steppers running? what feed rate is the max you drive it? Thank you
Interesting, i have exactly this problem right now! Thanks!
Have you sorted it now? Anything I can help with?
Hmm, COM1 is def connected to _something_ on the XC3000 -- once I connected my 0v line to it and had the switches switching 24v to their inputs (active high) it works!
@AndrewPrice2704 um ok...definitely not what their own support told me, but thanks for the info.
Ah yes once you connect 0v to it. The 24v via your switch then had a path to ground
Hi rob , great machine, been watching since start of build, what size rack and pinion are you using with the 10:1 ratio gearboxes
Hi Thanks. Mod1 rack it's more than sufficient for just moving the beam around. 32T pinion
Thanks , im slowly getting parts together to start building a table, will be heavy and stiff like yours but gantry will be on long side as i got a narrow work unit so gantry will be quite heavy upyo 4ft side , cant wait to see next part of laser build , keep up the great wirk
Work even
Well I purchased a NEMA 23 closed loop motor and drive from Steppers On Line, got the pin layout from Sky Fire but still cannot get past the "Servo Alarm" needing clear which I am sure is an improper wire somewhere. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much sir.
Amazing!!!! how to find you on facebook?
Thank you sir for your great videos. My SKY FIRE set up should be here in a couple of days. I currently have a 4'x8" plasma table running stepper motors and have been wanting to DIY a dual purpose addition to my current set up to offer the best of both worlds. You have given me hope that I will be able to make this happen.
Question, I connected my EPC to the monitor and can see icons for installing the software, but I have not way to control it, no USB for mouse or keyboard connectivity. Am I missing something. I also cannot get it to work via CAT to HDMI adapter to control via the laptop. Thank you sir. Any Suggestions? Thank you.
Well, looks like I need a video capture card?
No you don't need a vid card. The epc is kinda a middle man. You need a laptop with 2dcutahead installed and then you connect to the epc. 192.168.3.? I can give you more info later....
@@robbroomfield468 Thank you so much sir!
OK have you got pulse analog board or bus analog?
Hello What is the gearbox ratio?
Okay, I found it :) If I'm not mistaken, then 1:10? Yes?
@cycu87 correct 😆
So you input 24v in com pin? In digital input pin? To make the motor work?
Well the COM doesn't go anywhere so you put 24v on it to make the inputs work to complete the circuit.
@@robbroomfield468 thanks...i figure out almost 4 days how to make the motor working...because on the software warn me that the X and Y axis was off...thats explain why...
I think that com port was connected to the positive or negative...thanks to you find out how to make this work...👍
Google Lichuan servos. Good quality for their price!!!
Very nice build. We shared this video (alongside the first two parts) on our homemade tool forum last week 😎
Thank you so much
My problem is the pierce hole is oblong like yours, making the drilled holes off
Yes I agree, however for this job the accuracy was not that critical. Thanks for the comment though
A single gas machine will only produce cuts that are so-so. If you were to step up to a dual gas machine you would be astonished by the quality.
For some reason my comments are deleted so I can't respond to your other videos
If I comment with contact info my comment is been deleted. So can't can't send you the contact info of my inovance supplier haha

@robbroomfield468 I'm trying to send you the contact info of my inovance supplier but it keeps deleting my comments
your lights make my eyes hurt
Nice ❤
I would suggest you to go with inovance servos. They are relatively cheap for a professional servos. I have a supplier that it selling those with a great price
Really? Could you send me a link please? Thanks again
@robbroomfield468 I try to post my email for you but for some reason my comment is being deleted every time
In fiber laser controllers the z axis don't run on pulse & dir signal. The z axis run on an analog signal,so I don't think it will work for you with a stepper motor.
I have tested all axis with steppers and they work with this board. I will double check later.
In this Raytools controller, Z axis uses step/direction.
@@robbroomfield468 Before I spend anymore time with wiring scenarios LOL, will this run "Open Loop" Steppers or do I have to at least have "Closed Loop" or Servos? I cannot seem to make open loop work, or I am just flat doing something wrong. I have looked at your wiring and matched with the exception having encoding wires run back to the board since I do not have those. Thank you sir.
@lpfdemt you will need to use closed as the board is looking for encoder input. I don't know a way of fooling it 😁
@@robbroomfield468 Thank you so much! I figured that was the problem. I have watched your videos over and over just wanting to make the motors respond as you have. I am trying to do as you and make my current CNC plasma work using the Fiber Laser benefit. Your videos are precise and very informational and I thank you for taking your time to make. Yes, you need to get set up with a Patreon. I will order the closed loop stepper today. I currently run NEMA 23's and hope that it is a simple motor swap, i.e. shaft size, machine bolt size and line up. It would be a pretty easily accessible plug and play if so. Thank you so much sir.
Aliexpress has lots of choices for low cost AC servo kits. Also gear reducers. Got one (750W) months ago for evaluation, seems quite well made. Thanks for another DIY industrial automation fix, cool project.
For those steppers with a 5:1 reducer, if I've done the math right, you will need a 75mm root circle diameter on your spur gear to hit 70M/min, it looks like that's going to be a 50 tooth spur gear at module 1.5
Thanks for working that out! 😳 That's a fair size pinion gear. Gulp
@@robbroomfield468 i went nema 34 8nm closed loops, 5 to 1 reduction and i think around 18 tooth pinion from memory on a 1.5mod rack and could push over 40 meters a minuite, great acceleration still, 70 will certainly be pushing them. but will be amazing to see a big gantry at those speeds. i only ran them on 60 volt though so could get more out of them yet i think.
Thank's for the sharing 🙂
Please do walkthrough video for beginners from mach3 background.
I will do this at a slightly later date when I have time to do a direct compare. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video.
Brilliant keep up the good work
Chinese boards, they can be ......................different.......... not bad just different🙂
This channel FEEDS my geek-addiction to DIY machines and CNC-Automation projects. Super cool build!
You can hit the buttons, you can hit the box, the machine doesn't give a crap! LOL Funny stuff.
The EPC2000 is a slave PC, like you thought. I took the time to hook a monitor up to it and even though it comes in a Windows box, I think mine might actually be running Linux. There's nothing you really have to do with it...just install the Raytools software on your laptop and the slave PC will do it's thing.
Are you going with a screw compressor.
Still trying to decide as I already have a screw compressor but it's only 8bar 😔
@@robbroomfield468 I think you need 16bar.
Yeah for a constant 11bar as required by the head. Definitely need that. Thanks
Automation Overstock has hiwin replicas and helical rack and pinions reasonably priced but the in the US. As yoy may already know helical would impose a thrust force on your planetary gearboxes, something to consider if you decide to go with helical. Looking forward to your build thanks for sharing, all the best!
Not totaly sure what the constraints are with milling the sides flat, but I saw a DIY build where guys set the gantry up with a angle grinder bolted on, and then used the motion of the gantry to grind the side mounitng plates flat.
Oh hi Now that's an idea. Thank you, we will definitely look into that. R
whoa thats a cool move do you remember his channel or what he was making?
My man! Definitely will follow this series !
Thank you. I'll need all the support I can get 😆
Looking forward to following along with the project Rob. All the best!
That's awesome! I'm thinking of the same thing, but on my 4030 v2, how is it holding up? Is the extra weight of the spindle an issue at all? Thats the thing thats making me think of maybe getting the 1.5KW spindle instead...
I have to say it's holding up fine. Obviously could do with a slightly stronger z motor. 1.5 is plenty though, I just happened to have this one laying around 😆
@@robbroomfield468 do you think the 2.2k spindle is worth the extra 50 bucks. im concerned with the rigidity of the frame, i also have the expansion kit. only main reason im leaning towards the 2.2k spindle is to be able to use 1/2in bits with the e20 collect.
@TheRsZeus No.....I would definitely go lighter with a 1.5kw spindle. 2.2kw is brutal. I just had it laying around so I used it. Also the Z motor is only just strong enough.
@@robbroomfield468 I was really leaning towards the 2.2kw just for the simple fact I could run 1/2in bits..
Awesome...I'm glad to see somebody finally building a larger machine...it's exciting to follow along and see what you come up with!
I'm thrilled you are gonna follow along. It's gonna take a while but I'm determined. Your stuff is so damn cool. I can't wait.
Is there a discord?
Ever consider replacing or adding a water jet head to the plasma cutter head. Run the feed lines on same arm as the already installed head.
No I haven't. I'm unsure of the viability in my area for waterjet.
Very, very interesting project. Will definitely follow this build-series!
