Great video. My family would go to Great Adventure every summer. I'm talking late 70's/early 80's. I remember waiting a year or so to be tall enough to ride Rolling Thunder. Those days of anyone who has an older sibling, the jealousy of having to watch them do something you're not able to do yet. I also rode it a few times after El Toro was constructed and it was borderline a kiddie ride compared to El Toro. I do remember being able to ride Rolling Thunder 3 consecutive times cause no one was in line to take my spot on the car. To see a video of it's final ride was a great touch to this video.

I rode Hercules during the 2003 season just a couple of months before it closed. It was ROUGH. That massive drop into the turnaround was insane but the rest of the ride had serious pacing issues so it was a pretty forgetable coaster after the modified double up. It's too bad because if they had kept the layout down by the water, it could have been a lot better. I think CCI could have done a much better job designing and building Hercules if Dorney had waited for them to come along. Or if they hired them to modify the layout. Hydra is a fine replacement but it isn't my favorite B&M. I always wondered what would be come of Hydra and a heavily modified Hercules coexisting together in the same plot of land. Granted, that would have been a huge investment.

Glad I rode it when I did. It was in the 90's. It was pretty rough. I notice that Six Flags doesn't maintain any coaster they are preparing to demolish. The Great American Scream Machine is also an example.

I just went to lost Island today, it was super fun, but it needs another roller coaster for sure. This will be a great addition.

I was an operator of the Scream machine and Shockwave coasters in 1990 and 1991 and 1992. Still have my operators badges.

I hope Busch Gardens Tampa gets one of these to replace Scorpion. I love Jersey Devil so much and think something similar could get squeezed into that area of the park especially if they use some of the area next to the log flume and behind the carnival games.

This coaster looks really fun, but it would kick ass if they could make the launches 10 MPH faster after a certain hour or all day during fright fest. Call it Hyperdrive Mode or something. It would make it the only rollercoaster I can think of that can switch between a family ride and a thrill ride.

I love that little double up

This was a wonderfully edited video with some footage and pics I had not seen before. Well done! Great American Scream Machine was not as wild as Shockwave, but I still loved it. Great America was my home park and I was used to Arrow Loopers, so the roughness didn't bother me at all when I rode it in 2007. What did bother me was the trim brake after the first loop and the fact that the mid-course basically stopped the ride. Shockwave never had an operating trim after the first loop and the mid-course only stopped the train when there was a block zone problem. This made Shockwave WAY more intense than GASM or even Viper. What I loved about GASM was that it was aesthetically beautiful, very intense, and was taller, faster and longer than most large-scale modern looping coasters. It is a totally legit argument to say that Medusa in 1999 made GASM obsolete. However, I respectfully disagree. I was very impressed with Medusa in 2007, but it was a tough call for me to decide if I enjoyed Medusa or GASM more. They both offered different ride experiences despite similar stats. GASM did not have the smoothness of Medusa, but I fond it equally intense because of that. The jenky profiling on Arrow Loopers can make a basic direction change into a wild element (the wildest element on Shockwave was the rising turn into the break run which---depending on where you sat in the train---would provide crushing laterals and ejector airtime simultaneously). I love both styles of coaster, old and new and I really hope more parks realize that they can preserve their old steel coasters, like they are already preserving their old wooden ones. Great Adventure should have put Great American Scream Machine into SBNO mode and then gradually refurbished it over time.

I was very lucky that my first visit to Great Adventure was in 2007. Kingda-Ka and El Toro were brand new and yet Rolling Thunder and Great American Scream Machine were also still there. I loved all four of these rides. El Toro completely blew me away and Kingda-Ka was an insanely intense bug-spattered rush. However I did not forget Rolling Thunder or GASM. I loved how this park had a line of four coasters from different decades offering completely different ride experiences. Rolling Thunder was not too rough when I rode it and riding a large-scale wooden coaster with buzz bars was awesome. The ride gave spectacular views of the other three coasters I mentioned. The interaction of El Toro and Rolling Thunder was wonderful, and I spent a substantial amount of time just staring in fascination at the structures of these two completely different wooden coasters. I would much rather have the 2007 ride lineup then what is present today.

Streets will probably be last min as they're working on what fabricating / fitting 4 new houses... 2 in new locations. We wont see anything HOS near Atlantis as it wont be part of HOS, it will be part of daytime Halloween... I believe they announced penguin trek wont be part of HOS at this moment. that could change of course.

I’m just grateful of what we got, at least we got something good after 7 years. Better than the dinosaur jeep ride.

I would not be upset at the inclusion of a flying theater over a coaster. We've already gotten 3 back to back coaster additions. It's time for the park to have a bit more ride diversity.

This should’ve been refurbished instead of removed great adventure had the best coaster lineup from 2006 to 2007 in the parks history still had the chiller great American scream machine and rolling thunder.

Another disappointment. Give me my custom single rail! And get ride of flashback. Its simple. And then replace the painful Gotham City gauntlet with a wild moose! We need a real ride and we can afford a new ride. Blizzard river could use a real refresh.

disappointed it’s a family coaster, we don’t need more of those we need more thrill coasters, plus i’m still mourning goliath 😭 but nonetheless i’m super excited for something new and i’m happy it’s at least a coaster and not some lame kid ride
