This is the only thing I learned in elementary school and Junior High! That and waiting in line! I never danced the Virginia reel again and I refuse to wait in line whenever possible. The last time was for Unemployment in '94.
Can anyone tell me where I can get this music? I really like the arrangement. Did someone put the two pieces together themselves or can one buy it somewhere?
I wish I could this cleanly ... without all the noise and loud chatter in the background. Traditional dancing is a blast ... lots of fun. There's usually lots of traditional dancing at summertime bluegrass and folk festivals such as: Merlefest, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival to name a few. It's always a great experience getting away and doing these things, camping and hanging out with friends and family, and picking music in jams. ... I do it contnuously...
I would love to use this song (and this specific recording) in a new show my team is putting together...can anyone tell me who does this specific recording or from what album it is taken??? THANKS!!!
I like it in jig-time. They're having a lot of fun,esp they're sweet when they scuthe off and come round and take hands to go under the arch... Giving and taking hte hand is a big deal, and htese guys do that very well. If I remember right, the Shepherd's Heigh (sp?) is properly done to the "Irish Washerwoman" tune , and it (like this dance) also begins with lines approaching and receding, step together step bow -- so maybe that's where they got hte idea of usingthis tune
Congratulations on the video .... I think this beautiful dance! Shame that my country has not! I can one day both dance a dance like that! Well well ... continue voceis are beautiful and dance very well! I just wanted to know the name of that song and who sings! As of now thanks ... kisses! =D
always me! .. May be the priestess of terpsicores and charmant lady, is saying...(?)..bow... righty alone, lefty alone, two hands, do si do, seesaw.....and after I don't underrstand more.... somebody help me with the correct set of orders to call !! a lot of thanks. cherno billy
I am not american, but what is she saying this extraordinary teacher of dance, in this entusiastic kind of dance? .....righty around, lefty around, two hands, do si do, .... and after what is she saying switch.. I can't understanding....somebody help me please!
We did it when I was in hte fourth grade. Our little social set -- thats what htey called it -- met at miss Phoebe's house, where they'd rtaken out hte dining room table and rolled up the rug and danced there in the dining room. i THINK we dancedti to Turkey in the Straw," but this tune of course does sound familiar -- but then, it's almost the campbell's soup song. They do it well-- none of them knows how far you have to go to meet your new partner before you can start turn, but that's hard
It's called the Irish Washerwoman. I had to track down a fiddler friend of mine ot find out the name. We're going to dance to it at our wedding. My fiance went to UVA where they do this!
