I would say podcasts are already PR agencies, we saw beerbiceps etc doing podcasts with BJP politicians before general elections. Kejriwal was on a podcast recently. I also think that "podcast" holds a social capital & a signalling value today. What used to be called interview few years back are now called podcasts. Reel creators & even advertisers have started sitting in a "podcast like setting" with a mic in front of them. It doesn't matter whether the mic is plugged or if there's anyone in the room to hear. Just one guy with mic is enough to signal value. It's a cultural shift in my opinion. It's like reading book in a subway or metro or posting insta stories with perfect camera & sunlight. You don't just read a book you also show others that you read a book. All of this shows that things said on podcast are considered "truer" than something said in a (say) tweet. Anything with Podcast in title has certainly risen the ranks in the hierarchical ladder of content medium.
