Couldn't find a satisfactory portable mortar mod, and the in-game artillery is frequently buggy and also just takes a lot of time/effort to set up (without resorting to mods that grant it infinite range). But I *did* find a mod for an M79 grenade launcher, and after a few tweaks in FO4Edit it's my new best friend. Yes, I'm testing it on Abernathy farm just because it happens to be close by. Don...

I wouldn't hate on them that much, I just think that they are not suited to rule the Commonwealth. They have a certain interest, which is the liberation of synths. I don't have a problem with that. But if that's your only goal and focus, you are not suited as a political faction. You cannot hold the Commonwealth because you focus on stealth instead of firepower, and you represent only a fraction of the people living in there. Unite with the Minutemen. Try to talk things out with the Brotherhood, I do not care. Just don't try to be the hero you cannot be.
Toasters uniting yuck
when you have the ballistic weave unlock mod
I've had that mod for so long I honestly forgot you had to get it from the railroad originally, I usually just do a nerbit and gun them down when I have what ì want from them
I always have the admittedly no longer maintained armorsmith extended..... Dun care that they give a better version of ballistic weave in it, the improvements aren't big enough to make any difference :D
what pistol/gun did you use?
.44 with Explosive legendary effect
The only thing I understood in the game was🔫🧨☢
My thing about the Railroad is why would they want to destroy the institute and stop synths from being created?
Imo, I don’t think they necessarily want there to be MORE synths. I don’t think the Railroad really cares whether or not synths continue to be created so long as the ones that already exist aren’t treated poorly by humans or forced to be slaves.
Worst faction
Railroad randomly turned on me because I accidentally went to the institute before talking to them even though I had done a ton of quests helping them. Really pissed me off on a survival playthrough.
I also annhilated them but as a Brotherhood knight.
Nexus jannies seething rn
How did you made your character? I love it
Download fallout commander > order troops to purge > most satisfying way to start a war with the railroad
I need that pistol...
Lol I purged them all as soon as I first found them
My 1st time actually beating the game was the Institute, I plan on getting achievements 100%, so yeah gotta help these jackasses win at some point, beh.
How does one achieve this
1:20 me when Cait called Dogmeat a “dirty molerat”
Fuck those underground hippies!
Railroad is unbearably stupid. Almost as idealistic and weak as the Minutemen. Ad Victoriam.
What gun is that?
I saw the Railroad as a deadend. Once the Institue is gone, what then?
All are obsolete. Once you betrayed one, the others are useless. So I usually make enemies of all, because why not?
They practically go like "ok, this changes nothing, back to the usual". And it felt like I wasted the first playthrough. I could go into further complaints about little they care about other issues, but the feeling that they don't "evolve" as a faction is what gets me.
@@redwind5150minutemen remain for making safer the Commonwealth Brotherhood remain to identify any other dangers or techs in Commonwealth And Institute making their evil plans for Commonwealth So Railroad is cause less
100% agree. Out of the four factions, they're the only one that has no actual plan for the Commonwealth. Everyone else at least has an idea of how to shape the Commonwealth to their standards, whether you agree with said standards or not. Railroad is a purely reactionary organization and I've never been able to bring myself to finish the game with them across multiple playthroughs.
This is a good point, what happens when there are no more synths to help? Would they move onto fighting the rest of the commonwealth’s threats like raiders, mutants, or even slavers from nuka world? Probably not, out of all the factions, this one is the worst one long term. Minutemen or even BoS are the best options
No matter how annoyed the railroad are, they still 10x deserve to live than institute scumbags. Your main char fave look like a pig, so i guess it deserve the tbag too? 😅
i hate the railroad just because they force me to use a cringe ass fucking codename
Bullseye.
Charmer
Honestly the railroad sucks, and their entire mission plays into the Institute's hands. They ratline institute synths claiming to be seeking freedom as far as the capitol wasteland, and or further, because they have no way to know if a synth is being controlled or not. The institute is just evil. Kidnappings, FEV, putting synths in place to shadow control/spy on everyone. I'd prefer honest raiders. Minutemen and Brotherhood are the only factions that make sense.
in french her name translates: From a demon. Yeah railroad are the good guys fo sure
Hardest railroad choice: Family of five or toaster (extreme difficulty)
Sorry Desdemona, I can’t blow my cover
Dudes who play as chicks get a dislike
Everything Father said about the Railroad is true. They would kill every man, woman and child in the Institute to save robots from slavery. They're like any terrorist group in history convinced they are the good guys while blowing up school buses for The Cause.
2:10 ah, the dance of my people. The universal language, known to all: The tbag.
Is it really teabagging if the person doing it doesn't have a teabag? Maybe more of a taco taunt?
More like kitty kisses if you ask me
don't teabag her🤣🤣🤣
the Institute made me do it
Nerbit on most of his Fallout 4 vids be like:
institute ending really after all the killing and replacing by synth and turning folks into supermutmant and killing you you do this
Why does everyone hate the railroad so much?
ya know what, i rewatched the video their acting is also really melodramatic, her faked deep voice? like they were trying to make her seem like some cat woman/black widow/james bond spy woman but she ISN'T. she is some random lady in a hole in the ground? it makes it come across as "poser-y" and like she's a wannabe "suave" person? but it just comes off like ham-fisted acting. she belongs on a stage, over-acting a play tbh
Also Also, apparently according to other comments, she isn't even a synth herself?? so she's _this_ personally involved in some social freedom to be "one of you! normal humans!" when she isn't even a member of the.."Demographic"? group, interest group, she is trying to spearhead for. it comes across as kindof social justice warrior-y? and reeks of virtue signaling in that way. "By the power of White-Girl!✊🏻 i am offended on your behalf!"
@@Integritys_Sum okay the only actual valid criticism of Des and the railroad as an organization you listed was that Des isn’t in her place leading a group of synth liberators as a human, but like aren’t there MANY synths that work with the railroad actively? Are there any synths that actually object to her being the leader? I understand the concern on paper but in practice there aren’t any issues present. She’s a competent enough leader and person and the game unfortunately never covers the issue which I think is a missed opportunity to explore. Most people in the comments just feel like the type of people to rabidly jerk off The Legion, Enclave, and Brotherhood bc military fascism and genocide is cool to them ig?
I think the problem with Railroad is the same as with any other faction in F4 except maybe Minutemen - they aren't very likeable. To me personally Desdemona herself is incredibly clingy, in my playthrough, every time I return to trade with the Railroad, Desdemona goes: "I see you work with the Minutemen, drop them and work for us instead." Like, damn, you guys can't like, work together? I think Minutemen would be pretty flexible in their worldview, they could probably help you out, they aren't like, zealots, or outright evil, unlike uh, SOME factions. But no, it's either all Railroad, or no Railroad.
"Oh, so you helping the Minuteman, hmm? Leave them and help us instead" "Why" - in high suspicion "They represent people of the Commonwealth, their souls are rotten. They don't see that synths are just people like we are" "So you saying that I should leave them to suffer from the dangers of the wasteland just because you said so? " "Yes, because they are assholes and synths are nice and sweet" *Player will remember that*
Desdemona's character would have made a lot more sense if she had a synth chip when you killed her. One of the first synths to escape the institutes control and conned humans to die trying to liberate her kin.
She _is_ weirdly personally involved if she _isn't_ a synth. i wouldn't know, i've never dond the Railroad, i get tired of her shit and kill her. her and that other dudes pseudo-cool-guy bs
If this is true then it would make lots of sense. Too shame they didn’t make it that way
This Barbie face is awful ngl
Execute Order 66
Don’t forget about deacon hiding in the back entrance
Failroad is only good for the pistol and weave. Get Deacons perk if you want to further be fed with lies but that's it.
It's funny Desdemona thinks the institute sees they're a threat when they actually see them as a annoyance
You’d think an organisation that spanned all the way to the capital wasteland would be a bit less helpless
@@Zachebi Tbh they only span that far to smuggle & other than that they’re stretched paper thin as it is. by the time the switchboard fell is probably when the vast majority of their assets disintegrated, including any informant in the capital wasteland that were sympathetic to Harkness’s cause. they most likely all lost touch because the Railroad wasn’t considered a functioning organization in places like the Capital wasteland and/or any agent/informant outside of the commonwealth probably left out of fear or because they lost touch with Hq
One of the things that surprised me in my institute playthrough was how little they think of the other factions. At no point at all were they worried about anyone. They were always like 'yep this is gonna work' and when you absolutely wipe the floor with the BOS I understood why lol.
No, Shaun does see them as a threat. And the Brotherhood too. Both to the Institute and the Commonwealth. Maybe not a major threat, but he's rather pragmatic, which is why he doesn't want a crazed organization that wants to kill them all for using robot labor to stick around.
@@zeveria7206 To be clear, Gen 3 synths aren't robots, they are gene edited, cloned, frankensteins.
Any ending with the Railroad destroyed is a good ending.
Change "Railroad" with "Institute" and we'll call it a day.
@@fredphilips5320 Railroad AND Institute. Sure, we'll call it a day. But Institute only? No. If I had to pick one. I'd rather the Railroad burn over the Institute.
@@JBrander Isn't the Institute a bigger threat to the Commonwealth than the Railroad? I mean, they kidnap and replace people with synths...
I recently finished the America Rising 2 mod, it was fun wiping out the Railroad with the Enclave. It was pretty cool bringing the Institute under Enclave control, props to the creators of this fantastic mod.
Agreed
what pistol is that?
.44 pistol
@@konstantinosrope-maker1228 but how you have that so much ammo in 1 reloading and having explosion effect at the same time?
@@renzooo88 Ah that's just a legendary effect called explosive. Some people gather up a lot of ammo after a while. I used to waste a lot on my first playthrough
@@konstantinosrope-maker1228 Yeah I never used the .44 at all on that particular playthrough so I had boatloads of .44 ammo lying around by the time I got to this point and decided that an explosive headshot would be an excellent way to turn Desdemona into Deadsdemona.
@@jeffury8235 lmaoo fair enough
Rather sociopathic to say, "I'll protect you guys" and then just slaughter them. But hey, I'm just saying we can be different than those callous, clinically detached types.
Legit my first playthrough I tried to side with the Railroad. I got to this point and grew frustrated that I could not seemingly progress this storyline. So, I did exactly as you did and destroyed the Railroad completely for the Institute. Later I went back and finished the game with all other factions, but I couldn't figure out how to progress the breakout
Where were you stuck on?
you have to progress institute quests in order to progress railroad
Railroad's a bit weird IIRC, their questline is tied into the Institute's a bit so you have to do both until a certain point in order to get the Railroad ending.
@@Voltar_99 I couldn't trigger the synth breakout with Patriot my first playthrough. I've since beaten the game siding with all factions but just on a first playthrough experience, I gave up on the Railroad and went full Institute
@@artydomi2466 so I assume you got stuck on underground undercover, you basically have to keep working with father until you reach end of the line (the institute quest to destroy the railroad) in which it will commence.
You did the right thing.
I sandmanned Tinker Tom. Dude never saw it coming but somehow everyone else did.
The question is, did PAM see it coming?
@@russb24😂😂😂😂
Through space and time, codsworth hated that
One of my favorite things about taking out the Railroad was getting all those stupid unwanted quests out of my log. I was only in it for the Deliverer and the Ballistic Weave. Ad Victoriam.
I was likely to kill them on my current playthrough, if I ever decide to actually beat the main quest, but when I took Deacon to the Castle and he said last time he was here he could smell the smugness of the Minutemen I immediately decided I'm going to get what I want from them then kill him and all the others. You don't dias my boys when they at least tried to fight for the Commonwealth not just hide
They don't call you lads the Brotherhood of *Steal* for nothing, after all 🤣
@@zacharybare6967 That last bit is why I can never find it in myself to side with the RR on any of my playthroughs... At least the other three factions are trying to change the Commonwealth, albeit in their own ways and with varying, er, moral perspectives of doing so lmao. The RR doesn't have a plan for the Commonwealth though, they're just... anti-Institute. They only care about their own little operation and it shows in their dialogue.
@@jeffury8235 this is true unfortunately. They really don't have a plan beyond liberating the synths from the Institute and burning it to the ground. What happens after that? Find the synths new lives and that's pretty much it, the rest is left to the Sole Survivor to figure out.
@@jeffury8235 railroad + minutemen = best ending
