Friends of Vellore UK is a charitable organisation which supports the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore in India. CMC Vellore was founded just over a century ago by Dr Ida Scudder, the daughter of an American missionary, responding to God’s call on her life to start a hospital for women and a medical college to train female doctors. Today, CMC is considered one of India’s finest medical college hospitals and attracts patients from all over the country as well as neighbouring nations.
Friends of Vellore (FOV) UK want to ensure that everyone can receive appropriate medical treatment regardless of their ability to pay. So we raise funds to support projects that in particular benefit those who are poor or marginalised.

Beautiful documentary.
Dr. Mammen is a pioneer in the field of bone marrow transplantation in India. He was involved in setting up the first bone marrow transplantation program at Vellore in 1986,and In January 2019, he was awarded Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of medicine.

THE FINAL TWO YEARS I WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE EYE CLINIC SERVICES IN JAMANAMARTHUR WHICH IS THE BIGGEST AREA IN JAWADHI HILLS.. SUCH WONDERFUL, INNNOCENT NAIVE POEPLE TO WORK AROUND... THE ONLY THING THAT CAN ACTUALLY TRANSFORM THE AREA IS GOOD ROADS ..FROM CMC VELLORE TILL VEERAPANOOR NOTHING ELSE IS REQUIRED .. GOOD ROADS WOULD START A CHAIN REACTION...
Hi Xavier, I have done this journey a few times and recognise the difficulties with the roads. Whilst the roads fall outside of CMC's jurisdiction, they have recently purchased some land in order to build new facilities there. They plan to build residential facilities for staff (to limit time spent travelling to and from the area), a maternity unit and emergency care facilities to try to bring down the maternal and infant mortality rates caused due to the remote location and inability to access hospital care quickly. We are grateful for all our supporters who have contributed to this, and can still receive donations for this project.

Salute my fellow students who helped me understand myself. Salute people who taught me the way to Jesus in 1980......and here I am evermore grateful for the same after 39 years!!!
