This is very interesting but can't your tracks be monitored via the ISRC Codes?
Great info
I’ve made approx. 14 quid from streams over a couple of years.. but that was automatically collected for me by the distribution company I use. So firstly, perhaps not worth me joining (especially given a relatively low number of streams) but also secondly, how would the PRS royalties differ? Does anyone know? Thanks.
Great video! Thank you
Nice interview. This album is a blast, full with this great rocking energy, same like the first and second album. My favorite album....all 3! 😉 See you on Wensday🤘
While I understand that you must get a license or you could get a fine why does it sound like scam? How do you know what song is played in every venue around the world and thus who to pay? For example I love Elton John/Meatloaf and Queen so what if someone is only playing songs by them and they are NOT covered by you aka they have not signed up to you so I would not be covered by your license. It is all well and good for 1,000,000 artists to sign up and all pay £100 meaning you just made £100,000,000(Not for profit but you just made some). Since there is no way for you to tell what is being played in every venue around the world how on Earth can you make sure that artist X gets X amount every time their song is played? For all you know everyone is playing only Queen songs or music by an artist that is NOT signed up with you. Can you see why this sounds like a scam? If your an artist pay them £100 sounds great now tell us all how you force pubs/cafes etc £300-£600 a year to just play music in the background and then charge £15-20 PER karaoke/disco/live band. I have to pay £2000 a year to these people to play background music and do 2 karaokes a month, they have no idea what music I play nor if the music I play the artist is with them and karaoke uses no artist vocals NOR does it use the exact same music but I have to pay them £20 per karaoke.
But what if you were just producing for fun and have no streams, and dont want to put your music on streaming platforms...you just want TV, Video game ect placements? Would it still be okay to join?
Fantastic video and very informative helping build my career ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Saw these guys earlier this year at Sheffield Corporation, absolutely fantastic, looking forward to seeing them again in a couple of weeks as support to King King at Holmfirth Picturedome.
Are there any alternatives to PRS that serve the same purpose
great interview ...love it
Nice insight as am contemplating getting PRS

ps. we'll be your guinea pigs for a Q&A if you want some daft lads from Yorkshire ;-)
Glad you approve of our "golden" nuggets! Feel free to add some questions in the comments and we'll answer on the next episode! Emma x
Really great advice 👍 👏 I spent many years thinking I was past it at 25 in the music industry until I read sea sick Steve's story of getting his first deals at 50 odd. My band should be in touch shortly ❤
Love this interview with Shane in the run-up to the album and tour. The brilliant album is out now and I'll be listening all week before hearing some of these songs live next Friday 🤘
Thanks a lot! I'll be in London later and rooting for their album chart position today! Maybe see you there! xx

@@PLUGGIN_BABY look out for the limited edition artwork merch at the show ( by yours truly 😉)
💯❤❤❤
So you have to pay £100 separately for PRS and MCPS is that correct?
yes both cost £100 each, but BMI is free
Dam Crows are brilliant!!! Great interview!!
Yep! Fairly paid for streaming is a biggie Emma! Great interview.
Glad you liked it!
GuyB speaking sense as usual. It’s amazing how many bands he’s championed through his Great Music Stories radio show, winning GMS Radio ‘Band of the Year’ .. the likes of Massive Wagons, Those Damn Crows & Scarlet Rebels. For us listeners, who supported those bands through the GuyB Rockshow, spreading the word on social media, buying their music & merch, going to their gigs, it’s so disappointing to see them ignore us all now that they think they’ve made it. You can see from the fun interviews given to Guy by the likes of Fish, Marillion, The Cutting Crew, Magnum, Thunder, Toto, The Quireboys, Melissa Etheridge, Badflower, The Dead Daisies and more, that you’re never too big to keep in touch with the fans and the smaller, dedicated radio stations, more so if it was the radio station which got you where you are now.
He's got a pretty good knack for spotting the next big thing. Labels need to follow his show!
100% agree with everything said here. We always keep in regular talks with all our fans and dj's that have had our backs from the start... relationships are so important to keep and maintain!
Great work.. very informative! <3
Glad it helped!
