What do you love about Farmers Markets?
To celebrate National Farmers Market Week, our Communications & Content Manager Marie, stopped by Rittenhouse Farmers Market in Center City Philadelphia to interview customers, staff, and farmers what they love about farmers markets. 💚🌱☀️🥕🐝🍓
Folks shared that they enjoyed being sustained by local agriculture, building community, petting all kind of dogs, and our favorite answer-hanging out with farmers because farmers are cool!
Special thanks to Farm to City and to all the incredible folks at Rittenhouse Farmers Market who chatted with us this last week - we loved hearing your stories!
We are also sending love to all the farmers, market managers, staff, and volunteers who do the heavy lifting (figuratively and literally) to bring farmers markets to our communities. We love you, too!

Sounds like there is no shortcuts to growing valuable wild grown or simulated wild grown ginseng. I can say from growing deer food plots myself that diversity of plants reduces disease, pests, and diverse plant roots work together with funguses in the soil to make a healthier more disease resistant plant. Wildlife biologist Dr Grant talks a lot about benefits of diverse plant mixture vs monoculture.

Arkansas ginseng season begins on August 1st here in Arkansas. I clip my tops at that point, and dry them out and put them in cloth tea bags. The tea has a calming and clarifying effect within minutes of drinking. It doesn't taste very good though.

It is a problem protecting your ginseng from thieves. You put up no trespassing signs, post in the weekly paper saying stay out and all you have done peeked some people's interest in what is going on there. You sure don't say you have ginseng planted please stay away. You are just begging for trouble.

Am in the Ozarks of Arkansas, and my ginseng planting experiences a lot of assault from armadillo digging. I stratified 100 harvested seed from 2020, and today, I dug up and washed the seed, and it had a 47% germination rate. Bought roots, in experience, look too domesticated. Fat tummied and legged men look.
