Very clean design! Is that a DC insert? Wouldn't a VC insert mounted ccw 17.5' allow a cut all the way to the ball mounting shaft, & eliminate a shoulder or further operations? Tnx

Thanks for these videos. I'm also going to replace the bearings in my Bernardo Profi 400 V. It is a bit unclear in the second video how you were able to get the left bearing out. Did you use some home made brackets attached to the thread rod using a house clamp? Did you also removed the outer part of the bearings? If so, how did you do that? In my lathe there are also inner gaskets (made of metal) on the inside of the two bearings. It looks like you also have that. Did you remove them too? I'm afraid that if I remove all parts I end up with one big hole trough the headstock and not being able to get everything in place again.

You put your hands right in front of what you are doing...

May I suggest something brother. Make some calculations on paper and cut most material away say at 45 degrees. then do the final machining. Will save you a lot of time. If you have a CAD or similar program, the calculation would be chicken feed.

I have Optimum D180x300 too. I will replace with NSK 7206C P4 or P2 for higher precision.
