I've had both Lionel and MARX beacons and you just need to adjust the vent blades so the rising hot air off the bulb turns thr beacon.

I hope you replaced that smoke wick. It was burnt bad

When I did it the one of the screws fell in the locomotive and then I had to take the whole thing apart then 2 screws would not work when putting back together so basically I had to throw my favorite locomotive away. I hate screws

That wicking looked burned up, i would have change it while you had it apart? Oh well. Also 30-40 drops of smoke fluid, not 15-20 manufacturers are wrong! You'll burn up the wick like this one

could this be why my lionel o scale doesnt puff smoke? it just sort of comes out as the locomotive is in motion but not actively puffing out

You should watch Tomz Trainz and Accessories video on the 394 beacon. He shows you how to make the beacon work properly like Lionel designed it to work from the light bulb heat. Just make sure the vents are bent at a 60 degree angle and it will rotate properly on its own.

Does it spin with just the heat of the lightbulb? Are you trying to get it to spin faster?

Seem your in somerset county, nj. Im in edison, nj struggle for 3 years to get my new trainboard to work. Many problems with atlas 072 switch tracks and switch boxes, wakthru problems now solved. Wiring instructions for the mth aiu, accessories interface unit seems overwhelmingly complicated to connect switches and accessories. Been a train guy since god was young, never met anyone else that had o gauge trains. About to do my first video by nov 20,2022 wish I could magically transport guys here to help with the trainboard. Wish you did more how to repair videos.... gary j

Do you have a part number and vendor for that toggle switch, please. I have no electronics experience but that toggle seems more effective for dcs than my old mechanical atlas connector switch. Gary j

In 2022, november, does seem that mth has no phone support, only the cabability to order parts by email. How to id what size tire for what engine, sounds like I need a reference list....ah mth...gary j

Nice detail. I have o gauge atlas track, usu az4000 mth transformer, a mth tiu, atlas connector swithes which have pos and negatives wires in from my mth junction box and positive and negative wires from the yard parking tracks.using dcs mth phone app with proto 1 and proto 2 engines, I had to insulate all 3 track rails of the yard parking with fibre pins. Otherwise, it seems the parked engines started in conventional mode, not dcs mode. Seems the engines recognize the positive rail dcs original command but the response along the parking tracks negative lead, get confused and the engine goes to conventional mode. I see you only insulated the middle rail on your fast track. Not certain, but is it true that, in dcs, the mth engine receives a command signal thru the middle rail and responds back to the tiu along the negative rail? Gary j

Wave your screwdrivers over a magnet, once magnetized it makes working on small, tight things like this easier. Stick the screw to the driver and install, also helps keep the screw stuck to the driver when removing. Also, why didn’t you replace that wick? Anyway, good video.
