Apple's First Laptop: Reviving A PowerBook 100 - #MARCHintosh
I was given an over 30 year old Apple PowerBook 100 in non-working condition. Let's see if we can turn it from a parts machine into a fully functioning Macintosh.

1994 High Performance AMD 486 VLB Build. #486buildoff
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A week and a half late is better than never. My first major video project using professional editing tools. In this video I construct a MS-DOS and Windows 3.11 VLB based 486 system predominately out of mainstream parts that would have been available in 1994 including the AMD am486DX2-80 80MHz processor. Clips used: The Computer Chronicles Kid's Guide To The Internet Intel 486 DX2 advertisement ...
Excellent...
More?
Im adopted
Love this
Kids nowadays prefer silent PCs with no even startup sound, full of LGBT-like LEDs rather than serious office-like cases, and of course most of them are still tech illiterate (thank you, smartphones and casualsation of tech). Real men still can rockin' 386/486 builds and using it with no single regard.
Very nice video!
A slight suggestion to offer when operating MS-DOS: If you're looking to unpack a file that is a zip drive extension, it's easier to have the directory spell out for you, all the details of the files present on your drive diskette, then do the command of: install (name of file) with the .exe extension after it, and pressing the enter key. If it's an update, any preexisting file will be overridden in the process, and any remaining straggler, will simply be an unused file in a folder that never gets touched.
When I worked for the FBI doing database, I use to get up at 4:00 AM on a Saturday, so I could seize the day, doing all kinds of computer hobby things, along with, watching movies, and, after doing that, time seemed to go nice and slow, where it would be only 11 AM. Plenty of Saturday leftover.
Great video! You just popped up on my feed, and this is my kind of content. Subscribed! I’ve got a few of these I need to recap and repair. Sadly I had them stacked on each other and the weight of the stack damaged the screen on the bottom machine. It has the dreaded pink spot on the lcd now.
Nice video! I am restoring a PowerBook 100 right now and it is a very daunting process. Hoping the result will be worth it!
You are going to be the next Action Retro or Adrian’s Digital Basement, calling it now. This video and your repair work were exceptional and, well, the vaporwave BGM and the Apple Garamond were :chefskiss: Subscribed and excited to see what you do next!
Well done, another one saved! Looking forward to the next part 👍
god damn this video is awesome good job🙏
It looks beautiful in the dark, I'll tell you))
Excellent video
part 2 - waiting ! :)
I really enjoyed the trip back in time so we can all remember how these things came to be
Sounds like you would have some pretty awesome retro lan parties!
1:20 well, Clint(LGR) is always complaining that his wood grain vlb board is not great.
ASMR hahaha A SLOW MACHINE RESPONSE....my installs took forever on my 386.... should ASMR defrag now that'll keep ya calm
Even got the chair squeaking in there LOL
8:08 would love to see scandisk running on this computer as well..
I owned the same one at that time. Developing PowerBuilder and Clipper Apps using it was very Entertaining
this gives me danooct1 vibes
Not too long ago, we had this. And now here I am studying and coding, using an AIs like Codex and ChatGPT to assist me. It's insane.
Talk about throwback.
I don't know why TH-cam recommended me this video but I loved it
I love that the setup program didn't really change all the way up to Windows XP.
Computer really said:📠
29:07 looking actually good
Thank you, this is really well done. I miss my old computer so much..
*Incredibly awesome! Please, do more videos!*
20:12 - I sooo much understand you, nothing is worse, especially if you have one single copy of some crappy data... *Whole my life hate floppies* ... and stupid scandisk, that never helps...
FAV12. Yeah, definitely wrong :)))
OMG , this step @ 4:10 looks the same for decades, even in Windows XP ... this is in some way an advantage , reminding my self on Windows 8 (vomit ejection in progress) ...
damn he do be gaming
Nice.. I used to mess up floppy disks all the time, never an HDD though.
Back when this was getting crazy and wild. Somebody better stop them before it gets too crazy
:-) Memories ! :-)
Amiga drives sounded nicer. Amiga rulez, PC droolz.

Gotta love the rage at 20:00 😆
This is a very real thing. That sigh is absolutely on point.
Every computer person gets that at some point when they are stuck with a bad computer at 3am to fix before morning.
very cool
I never knew what I needed till I randomly saw this. C:// Forever
