Surin Elephant Festival Parade - Pipeaway Walk 003
Pipeaway Walks: Elephant Parade at Surin Elephant Round-up
The Elephant Round-up in Surin, Thailand, is an annual festival organized during the weekend of the third week in November.
Hundreds of elephants and their mahouts gather in this town, the capital of the namesake province northeast of Bangkok, also known as the Land of the Elephants.
Surin Elephant Festival is typically marked by an enormous elephant buffet and stadium shows displaying everything from mock battles to sport competitions.
But on Thursday before the official festival opening, the elephant parade happens.
While the main event of 2024 gathered around 160 elephants, the inaugurational elephant march saw 30ish animals walking from Mueang Surin District Office to Si Narong Stadium.
Wealthy dignitaries, but also beauty peagant participants (misses and misters) showed up to see the elephants on parade, some of them from the bird's eye perspective, also known as sitting on elephants.
While Pipeaway doesn't condone elephant rides or any type of animal abuse (mahouts are clearly very relaxed with using bullhooks to control the elephants), I still decided to publish the recording of this Thai elephant parade without verbal commentary.
Make your own judgment when watching this elephant walk video, but consider not contributing to practices that have animals suffering for the sake of an attraction.

Rabbit on the Run on the Ferry
มุมมอง 50หลายเดือนก่อน
Aboard Seajets ferry traveling between the Greek island of Kythira and Athens, a large rabbit was on the loose, freely exploring the ship. While the passengers watched in disbelief as the bunny zigzagged between the seats and their legs, the pet's older owner was fully engaged in conversations. When the ferry docked in Piraeus, it took her some time to get hold of the long-eared fugitive.
Gheralta Mountain Descent

After visiting the Tigray Churches of Daniel Korkor and Mariam Korkor in Ethiopia, my mountain guide Amaze and I head down from Gheralta Mountain via a shortcut to Abuna Yemata Guh. My guide forgot that we would need a rope for this shortcut route, so we ended up risking our lives during a dangerous descent. For obvious reasons, I didn't film the riskiest parts of this feat, as my priority was ...

I'd heard about this festival, but the facial and body piercings put me off. But I must say, you video really brings it to life. And I enjoyed the street scenes of Phuket's old town. It is very unique in Thailand.
We'd love this vegetarian festival! Phuket is on our bucket list!
On mine for next year too haha! In 2025, the Phuket Vegetarian Festival will fall at the end of October, so more away from the monsoon season! That's a great opportunity to explore nearby islands as well
Festivals are so much fun! I also enjoy trying vegetarian dishes.
Oh, you'd love it there then! So many things to try, taste, explore...
The energy of festival is amazing!!
Indeed, electrifying!
I love that no matter the culture music is always an important, integral, part of festivals
And I love how inclusive the whole event is. It's not always crucial if people creating sounds at such festivals are talented musicians who hit perfect notes or rhythm. To me, it connects to tribal rituals, which can be understood in a concrete, visceral way by everyone gathered.
looks like a fun festival!
It's both fun and exhausting :) I have followed nine such processions during the festival days - it takes a toll on both your body and your clothes haha. You start white, but end up orange.
What is the meaning of all the fireworks?
The omnipresent use of pyrotechnics at the Phuket Vegetarian Festival is not here just to create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The festivalgoers believe that loud noises and bright lights drive away negative energies, expulse evil spirits, and purify the environment so that the blessings and protection of the Nine Emperor Gods would be fully realized. If this already looks bombastic, wait to see the Pipeaway Walk from the final night coming out soon! On that day, fireworks are set off in extreme quantities as the deities are sent back to heaven, marking the end of the festival.
Fascinating. Thanks for capturing a look at the festival.
You are welcome! Glad you like it!
I love Thailand and its food is one reason why. I had no idea this took place but I would definitely travel for it!
Thanks, Heather! 😊 Thailand’s food has a way of making us all fall in love, right? The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is definitely worth the trip! It’s a feast for the taste buds and the senses!
Love it! If a ferry advertised a giant rabbit running around during your trip, I'd book that ride straight away.
There, maybe Seajets reads that, and starts employing bunnies as staff
So funny. Wish I had been on board.
You would have such a laugh! My thumb was constantly on the phone, ready to film what would happen next, yet I still didn't manage to catch it all, as it was always happening too fast
@@PipeAway I would probably have used up all my phone battery trying to record the shenanigans.
I have to ask if anyone from the ferry said anything to her? Cute little plus one though!
I don't think anyone objected really. We were all just caught up in the surreality of the situation. And were lucky, I guess, that she didn't bring a cow along.

Such a great video! I've never heard of this race, but Kyrgyzstan looks beautiful!
Yes, not anyone can join it, so it's not as present in the media. This was the first time for the race to be held in Kyrgyzstan, a truly special environment for MadWay Rally!
wow....this seems unreal...great drone action btw...was it fun to film?
we are in 21st century and the education hasn't set these people free of paganism what else will do?
Absolutely amazing video...felt like I was in a movie. I wanted to watch....compelled to watch to the end. Fantastic video!
Thanks a lot, Heather!

ティッシュの人気に嫉妬www
Finde, das überhaupt nicht lustig und schön-die Leute haben von Tieren den Bettler gemacht .
Why are their antler's cut?
Once a year to prevent the buck from getting injured during the rutting season. "Deer antler cutting" is being carried out. It was started by the Nara Magistrate in 1671 and has become a traditional event.
@@kenjih1408 interesting, thank you
They are pretty intimidating. Once I saw a female tourist, who just took out 5,000 yen bill from her purse to pay at the roadside souvenir shop, to be snatched it by a deer.

They obviously did the self-catering from an abandoned bicycle. Surely, nobody would feed them tissues on purpose!

Nobody fed tissues to anyone. As seen in the video, deer found tissues in an abandoned bicycle. If there is any moral to the story, and that goes to all examples seen in the video, it is: do not leave your things unattended. Deer are animals, and do not read TH-cam comments :)

Hm, not sure what you mean. Between the two cliffs? So there are two cliffs, and rock stuck in between. Naturally, underneath is an abyss
Ahhhh! Festivals. Can't wait until they come back.
I hear you. It seems future is still on hold.
How fun! Everyone trying to catch the perfect shot!
Haha, yes! Sea paparazzi!
I prefer whale watching via video and not having to get seasick in person in one of those little boats.
Oh, this one didn't seem to be so little really. But I understand what you mean. Personally, I enjoy being at sea, but it's true that small boats get rocked too much by waves sometimes, and then one can only try to keep his lunch inside his belly...
I've always wanted to see a ship wreck underwater but scared of diving. This one doesn't look too far underwater, so I think I could do this one!😃
Yes, just a couple of meters under the sea surface. But I am not the best free diver. Should train more!
You're a brave soul. Just knowing how deep that water was would be enough to keep me out of that water, LOL!
Hahaha! You can do it! It's not that deep really. Assuming that you are a swimmer, of course.
