Been watching more and more videos of non-lathe pipe making and it's kind of got me tempted to bust out my dremel and at least buy a pre-drilled piece of briar.

Glue in a pipe????
Almost all pipes nowadays use CA glue for filling holes and attaching accessories. 2 part epoxy is also used. As long as the CA glue isn't used inside the bowl then it is safe

What type of dremel bit are you using the first time you put the dremel to it? Is it some sort of bur?

Great job! I was wondering what did you wipe on the bowl befor you used the lighter.
It's leather dye. Alcohol based dyes need to be used because the grain is so tight that water based dyes won't be properly absorbed. You can find it at the Vermont freehand website

The hole was a natural inclusion in the wood. Usually cause by the briar growing around a clump of sand in the ground. Luckily it didn't go all the way through into the chamber.

Traditionally you stick a pipe cleaner in the airway, and soak the end of it in water to keep from bending the shank. And thank you, but I don't sell pipes anymore.

Hi, what material have you used for the pipe stem?
It's called ebonite or vulcanite, it is a vulcanized rubber (saturated with sulfur). It turns the rubber hard and strong.
