World Cancer Day: We have hope
World Cancer Day, observed every February 4th, is an international day initiated by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to raise awareness about cancer globally and encourage ways to prevent, diagnose, and give early treatment. The theme for World Cancer Day 2025-2027 is 'United by Unique', which 'places people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation'. This theme highlights a people-centred approach and the role of individuals and communities at the heart of cancer-related health systems.
Dr. Sahufar Sadiq M.S., Director and Chief Surgeon at Safaa Medical Centre in Coimbatore, enlightens us on the causes of cancer, particularly among children, and elucidates the early diagnosis, prevention and treatment modalities in this video. "We have hope," he says, giving direction for prevention and treatment.
