I have several iterations of the Fanner, both with and without dummy shells and shootin' shells, but I don't have the big one, yet!

As a kid and today it bothered me most cap guns were double action only. Even the Cadillac / Ferrari level Nichols Ranch guns are almost all DAO, which always puzzled me. Single action is simpler and the cylinder timing is also simpler and much more reliable.

my brothers and I had these in the 60's. We would put firecracker powder in the shell after priming it with a stikim cap. We would go down in the basement and have duels in the dark. The muzzle flash was spectacular.

My mother has a Nichols cap gun tie tac. It is a prototype, never released because it would have cost too much money.

This is why toy stores are dying, toys aren’t fun to play with because they’ve become overly safe. And the quality isn’t good either.

They called these the Fanner 50 didn't they? I had one as a child, I think it was the one shown at the end of the video without the two piece bullets and the natural leather holster and belt. THANK YOU!!!

That’s great. My memory is not what it was. What I remember was. A solid bullet it never came apart that I remember. the cartridge and the bullet where different colors, but one piece. I only had red caps, I had until now only ever known red. They had green? So cool! Not a collector. Just an old guy that has had and have a few not many and loved something or found something interesting about every! Gun,pistol, rifle, shot gun. Firearm. Stay with me on this I’m getting there,I believe I’ve ever seen. .

I have a Hubley Texan 38 I was given in about 1958 but the hammer spring has broken. Can't see any screws holding the two sides together but just shiny domes which might be screw covers or rivets. Don't want to damage it drilling things out without knowing what's what. I asked the lady (Tinkering for Fun) who posted a video about working on a Texan Junior for ideas but she didn't know about the 38. Suggested I contact you. Any ideas how to get it apart? Nice videos and great collection.

As a kid my mom bought me the Lieutenant (M14) on my 9th birthday. That next Christmas I wanted the Red River Rifle/Pistol set displayed at the old Montgomery Ward in Ann Arbor. We had such great fun with those Johnny Eagle toy guns.

How far do the little bullets go? It would be interesting to see the cap guns that actually shoot a projectile on some targets as well, rather than just the side of the gun when it goes off. I imagine the little plastic bullets plop out the front of the gun in the most anticlimactic way imaginable... but it still can probably hit stuff at 5 feet I'm guessing.

Had (semi) organized WWII battles growing up. GIs used Lieutenant kits, Germans Magumba sets, closest to Mauser and Luger/P-38 kits. Both close enough to what we 8 year olds saw in movies at the time. Politically incorrect today, of course !!
