Old Machete made into a naval cutlass sword MUST Watch
I am sharing this video of giving new life to an old broken machete and making it into a naval cutlass sword. I had this machete for 38 years and since it broke it has been in the scrap metal bucket. I decided to pick it up and repurpose it. It was a fun project.
The background music is credited to: Intro is "plantation", and the main music is "Solo Acoustic Blues" from Jason at Audionautix.com. I thank him for his contribution.

100 yr. old double bit axe restoration and transformation... AMAZING
มุมมอง 4292 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a restoration and reclamation of an old double bit axe. The axe itself is likely to be around 100 years old. I usually picked these up when I was a child as I was wandering and exploring my parents neighbors farms in Pennsylvania. The axe was stamped Phila. PA forged #4. Unfortunately I could not find any info on it. Turned out to be a fun and satisfying project. The music for this vide...

    What was the water temps like? I will be in that area at the beginning of October this year and trying to figure out footwear. Usually I'm good with Crocs when getting in/out of the boats but that is usually in early September. I am trying to decide between bringing Crocs and Hiking Boots (Dry area only) or getting a similar boot to Muck boots and Crocs/Wool Socks for around camp.

    • @chcc7777
      @chcc7777 ปีที่แล้ว

      well to be honest in all, the water temp is getting colder in october but I always bring a pair of crocks for camp and in the water and a pair of hiking boots for the rest. I usually bring heavy wool socks and darn tough socks as well. James always brings muck boots that works very well for him. hope this helps. oh, btw, i was looking into a light weight waterproof knee waders. that might be interesting.

    • @scamallite
      @scamallite ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chcc7777 I'm not too sensitive to cold water....I'm guessing the colder water wasn't an issue for you during the trip? I've looked at Muck boots but having a hard time spending that kind of money (even for cheaper alternatives) for the trip. I did see some Muck brand 'foraging' boots that are around $55 that may be easier to deal with cost wise. I may get those and then make it a game time decision at the put in on what footwear to go with.

    Hi, can you explain how you make the inside bird mouth cut.thanks

    • @chcc7777
      @chcc7777 ปีที่แล้ว

      sure, a simple way is to know and measure your angle cut and lay them out appropriately on the garage floor and lay your ridge board as it will go and trace and cut. then use these as your template to cut more. i angled the top of my ridge board with my table saw so i would have a perfect flush finish with the plexy at the peak.

      to be honest, we typically never start on a Saturday. we start all out trips on a Thursday to Sunday. Summer 2020 we left on a Friday afternoon and could not find any ware to camp on lake lila so we packed out at 10:30 PM, could not find any other close lake site and went home. It happens.
