@@felix_ennui Thanks for reply! So it's some mode of Plaits stereo filtered and EQd/distorted, right? Maybe you remember which mode of Plaits is used here? I'm relatively new to eurorack, but really interested in getting rock vibes from it as well.

The DFAM has frequency modulation built in accessed via the 1→2 FM Amount knob. It gets pretty nasty pretty quick.

I’m using the Arturia Keystep Pro for sequencing. Switching scenes on the fly, it’s really fun and easy way to compose.

Hey thanks! I sampled the vocals into the morphagene and ran a very fast arpeggiator into its vari-speed cv input.

The dc motor in the spring reverb is being sent a trigger making that trash can kick drum sound. On the fan I have an electromagnetic pickup being sent to a pitch shifting reverb on the ALM MFX. Got the electret microphone picking up the chimes going into the delay on the Koma Field Kit FX with the mix all the way up. Which is why a keen eye might notice a slight delay between the strike of the chime and the sound of it.

@@felix_ennui As a side-note: I do not know which kind of protections are typically designed around CV outputs, but when driving a DC motor with a trigger signal, you may want to short the motor with a kickback diode. Otherwise, each time the motor stops, self-induction will send a reverse current into you CV output with the potential to fry something. Some machines will be more protected against that than others, but you probably do not want to discover empirically that your favourite synth was not protected against reverse current !

Thanks! Im interested to see how this will be received being what it is. Its kinda my favorite voicing at the moment. Usually after I create a patch I unplug and start from scratch, but it took me awhile to disconnect this one. Sooo... there should be some more little jams coming with this voicing. I just have to shoot all the visuals for them. Thanks for the comments, I'll have to check out your vids.

@@felix_ennui Every time I come up with a new patch (especially on my 2600), disconnecting everything to start again is always an emotionally loaded moment ! And indeed, just like you describe, the more interesting the new experiment, the longer it takes me to finally discard it !

Thanks Going Modular! Im pretty sure this is the patch where I figure out that trick to get more complex beats on the dfam. Shows how long it took me to bring that demo to fruition.

@@felix_ennui Sequencing the DFAM with a trigger sequencer is a great trick indeed. For a long while, I kept looking for a cheap way to do exactly that, but controllers such as Arturia's Beatstep were priced higher than I was ready to spend on that function alone. Until I found an ultra-cheap Behringer RD-6 analog drum machine that was on sale. Although I am definitely NO fan of early 80's analog drums sounds, I realised that this machine (and its likes) pack several independent trigger/gate outputs, while sporting individual audio outputs for each instrument that can easily be processed into just as many more independent triggers. For 80€, this gave me an 8-track trigger sequencer, which is way more than I will ever use ! At the same time, I almost NEVER use the drum sounds themselves, unless heavily processed to make them beefier.

I did. Going for a dirty, overblown, punk rock kinda vibe on this one.

Still loving the DFAM. Recently upgraded to the KeyStep Pro, so that has been getting more use with my modular stuff. The BeatStep Pro is a great sequencer also, just be sure to attenuate them gates if using with the DFAM.

does it work well with keystep pro? btw can we record to daw wit this setup? via usb or audio in?

Hey hardminder, thanks for the comment. Yes, Erica is just making the hi hat sound. What do you have plugged into the ADV / CLOCK input on the DFAM? You need some sort of gate signal to advance the sequence to its next step.

@@felix_ennui First of al I really apreciate your reply. I forgot to mention that I copied your setup at 1:37 or so. So I assumed you had drum gate 1 going in your multi to the erica and to the dfam advance. I don't have a multi nor a erica but that shouldn't matter, I sent the gate 1 drectly into ADV/Clock. Am I doing something wrong?

You should be good. The DFAM needs to be armed, if you will. Advance it to step 8 and hit RUN. Nothing should happen. Hit play on the Beatstep Pro and it should start up.

@@felix_ennui Man, honestly, before I asked you this question, I worked on this setup for 3 evenings in a row. When I say my setup is the exact same as yours that's because it is. It's really not that complicated to replicate, there are 3 wires... But somehow it's not working, I really don't understand. I'm not a noob, I.ve been playing and working with wires and mics and amps and midi and everything for 17 years. This modular thing is new though, but still...
