Simple and sweet, but has to be said! Ice hand spikes and first ice spudding are an absolute must. Glad you explained to the newer ice folks about your heavier ice spud. I've fallen through over 25 FOW on Herendeene Lake up there and had ice spikes. Herendeene has springs in it. Maybe let the viewers know about springs in lakes. That was over 20 years ago. The next day I bought two ice spuds. I always have a spud with me and 100% use it on early ice. Good luck out there.

Do a lot of people fish up there ? Last year we were skiing at Shanty and drove over there for a day and I was amazed with the topography of the bays …. It was early March and I only seen one trailer at the ramp

I would take Madison fishing any time with a hook set like that. That is better then just reeling in the line and no barb into the skin. She is going to show you up some day with that hook set and you don't catch a darn thing with a sissy set!

Can you tell me where you got those big reel tip ups I’m in Northern Ontario . Years and years ago my Dad and my uncle got a few from a friend in Michigan . They have passed and I have a couple to this day but something happened to the reels and they no longer run true . I’d love to try and get a couple new one’s . Beauty perch keep after them
