Should the coolant level of the reserve tank be same every time when engine is cool ? Or Does coolant level of the reserve tank decrease over time ? I filled the reserve tank to the top level but coolant level of the reserve tank has decreased to the middle level within two weeks. Is it normal?
Normally you should fill the reserve tank up to half level or bit more (75%).Because when the coolant gets hot,some of the coolant gets returned to the reserve tank from the engine.(With the pressure build up in the engine the coolant gets expands)If you fill the reserve tank to the full level,once the engine starts returning some coolant to the reserve tank,it gets overflow. Because of this ,your reserve tank has a lower coolant level. Just mark this level and see if the coolant level drops below this marked level weekly. If this level continuesly drops ,do a compression test and see, whether the engine has any coolant leaks. Because once the engine gets hot ,leaked coolant gets evaporated, without dripping to the ground. Best thing is to add a coloured coolant because it's more visible to the naked eye if there's a leak. If there's is a external or internal leak you can find it from the compression test.if there are no external leaks , there should be a internal leak There are some symptoms where you can check if there's a internal leak by removing the radiator cap when the engine is cool.start the engine and see,if there are continuously bubbles coming out from the radiator inlet. Usually within 1 to 2 minutes this continues bubbles stops.if it doesn't happen,most probably the head gasket start leaking. If you can identify this in the early stages,you can simply replace the head gasket and get away with it. If the engine gets overheated continuously,engine head gets wapped. It's better to replace than repair. If there is a external leak,there are some UV dye coolant that you can buy from online.it comes with a UV light.just add it to the radiator and use it for a while.by using the UV light provided with the kit,you can see if there are any minor leaks to naked eye. With this tips you can pinpoint the reason for the problem
@@DIYwithAsankaThe Engine of my car doesn't overheat . Now coolant level of the reserve tank is little lower than the half level. When engine gets hot coolant level comes to the the full mark. There isn't external leak either. No white smoke from the back of the car or bubbles coming from radiator cap . It has been a one month I filled reservoir tank to the top still coolant level little bit lower than the half line . Is coolant system different from car to car ?
This is pretty much normal Because when the engine gets hot, coolant gets expands and the excess coolant will be dumped in to reserve tank. When the coolant cools down it will take less amount from the reserve tank back to the engine. That's why your coolant level fluctuate from half to full. Theory of the coolant system for most of the vehicles are same but the methods of execution is different to the make and model of each vehicle Weekly Check the coolant levels of the radiator once the engine is cool ( most probably in the mornings,before starting the engine). The radiator coolant level should be filled up to the brim. If it's little bit lower than that squeeze the coolant pipe that is entering the radiator and see if the coolant level comes to the top of the radiator neck.if it's lower than that it's not good for your engine.your radiator should have coolant filled up to its maximum limit. Reserve tank is only therefore topping up the coolant level if the radiator is not full.its just a reserve tank.
Coolant level of the rediator of my car never gets decreased. It is always up to the brim. I just wanted to know whether coolant level of the reserve tank gets decreased over time is normal or not and how coolant coolant should be poured into reserve tank within a month.
Reserve tank coolant level should be in between the high and low level. Topping up of this reserve tank highly depend on the mileage that you are doing per month. For an example. More high way mileage that you do, you should top up once a week. If you are not using the high way ,then you should top up monthly. This is not much 100 to200ml per a time. If you buy a 4L coolant bottle,it should last you for 4 to 5 years.

@DIYwithAsanka, If the battery is disconnected while Solar Panel is connected, will this SRNE SCC get damaged ? or can it safely handle that condition ?
Best practice is to disconnect the solar panel first and remove the battery. If this question is about LIFEPO4 batteries under normal usage ,BMS won't disconnect the batteries. I'm using laid acid batteries and I have been using these for nearly 5 years.During this period,I have not tried out that condition,simply because this system has been operating 24/7.

The main reason for my batteries to last longer is the depth of discharge.i only use them down to 12.3v I have set my inverter cut off point as 12.9v I'm planning to use these batteries for at least 15 years. All these batteries are deep cycle laid acid batteries. I only need 3 batteries for my day to day use,but I have added 2 more additional batteries for a rainy days.(Roughly 2 days back up) I managed to get the charge controller and the Bluetooth adapter (that did not come with the charge controller) from a cash on delivery website. But nowadays that website is useless,because they don't refund for damage items as well. Try to purchase one from international market.and you will get a better deal also.kindly keep in mind that the charge controller is very heavy so you might incur additional charges.
