Note from the producers:
This documentary is ten years in the making. We collected dozens of stories from fighters, refugees (many still living in camps) and survivors of the war. Their stories are powerful, heart-breaking and shocking.
On top of those interviews, we conducted a mountain of research (over 20,000 pages of history), painstakingly fact-checking every statement made in the documentary. Our team gathered photographs and film from archives across the globe. We retrieved copies of military orders from Israeli archives. We translated dozens of Arabic and Hebrew interviews as well as secondary documents. And we interviewed and consulted with some of the most respected historians in the field.
This has been a colossal amount of work. We sincerely hope you get something out of it.

This film says that at the start of Zionism, the Palestinian Arab population was 450,000, and the Jewish population was 20,000. This is pretty empty. The population of Jerusalem today is just under 1 million.

This is sick and disturbing propaganda. Jews didn't live in Israel before WWI? Arabs weren't attacking Jews proactively? Jews weren't kicked out of Arab countries, only came from Europe? This is a twisted narrative that turns the Jewish victims into offensive occupiers. Shame on you.

These information should be more widespread, to help public to see the still ongoing conflict in wider historical contexts. I hope one day there will outweigh the will to find a peaceful solution, rather than a forceful one.

In 1917, the Brits declared that the Jewish people should have a "homeland". The Brits wanted Jewish support during WW I. In the 1930s, some Jewish people began moving in large numbers to Palestine... the land was occupied by Arabs for almost 2,000 years since the Romans exiled the Jewish people becaue of their revolt against Rome. The Brits discovered that while they did not mind Jewish people, they were not happy with an invasion of Jewish people who felt that the Brits had given them the land !

Now if you apply it to people, you understand that the idea is to cleanse every person who lived in Haifa." -Prof. Ilan Pappe, Jewish historian. 55.05 "Suddenly I saw masses of [Palestinians] going through the checkpoint.. they were searched, searched for valuables. That reminded me very much of the time when I was a child -we started to do the same thing [Nazis] had done to us as Jews.

This is a wonderful documentary. Thank you for making it available at no charge to all of us. As a Jew, not a Zionist, I have always resisted the "Birthright" propoganda tours offered to Jewish young people to entice them to move to Israel. My family gathered their resources & left Belarus They bought a compound on Ben Gurian st & my great grandmother ran a rental for visitors to Jerusalem & farmers & Bedouins, etc. My grandparents were raised in this compound & learned to speak Arabic, French & at the Rothchild School for Girls, my Grandmother and her half sister learned British English. The children played in the courtyard amongst the animals. As a teen my grandfather helped bring in the olive harvest in exchange for oil. There was comraderie and everyone got along. My grandmother was married in a Bedouin wedding dress. My family left Belarus for Palestine around 1850 and lived there until about 1905 when opportunity in the US beckoned them. We were forced to sell the compound in the 1980's for the repurposing of Ben Gurion street into a "Rodeo Drive" type shopping neighborhood. We got very little for the property. My family still has a couple of family members in Haifa. I am so ashamed of my country continuing to send arms to Israel. How we can support genocide and aparteid in this day and age saddens me greatly.

Imagine knowing what the Jewish people went through in WW2 and not voluntarily giving up a small, worthless chunk of your barren land to a Jewish family simply out of a sense of being a good person. Also, many people have landlords that sell the homes they're renting and the new owner doesn't renew the lease. It happens to everyone, including me, and if there ever was a time to be understanding of it, it's after the holocaust. I couldn't imagine then going and attacking civilians over it. Only evil people would think to do such a thing. One side is soooo obviously worse than the other. They're both bad, but to pick the evil side is to demonstrate your morality. You're just a bad person. One side was fighting to exist, the other because their lease ended.

The film begins without a mention of the *War of Liberation* The day after the declaration of the State of Israel, all the Arabs attacked Israel and lost. Thank God!!!!!!! What do you mean by Zionist settlers? There have always been Jews in the Land of Israel! It is true that many were murdered and deported by the Christian settlers, and the Muslim Arab conquerors, but there were Jews permanently in the Land of Israel. So that the day will come and we can return what belongs to us since the dawn of history ✡️🇮🇱 We have been waiting to this day for generations. This day did come in 1948! And we took it with both hands. A crushing victory over the Muslim and English occupation! Even the Arabs know that there are no "Palestinians", they all come from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon... They have no historical connection to the Land of Israel. A propaganda film, which omits many facts and truths that do not fit the "Palestinian" propaganda!

And now israel is doing a Genocide and have killed over 18 000 children !!!

The UN departing plan, was the try to resolve the situation. The frontiers of that plan followed in the best way the settlements of both jews and Arabs. When one see the map, it seams as if the Jewish territory is much bigger, but the south is desert. That should not be forgotten. After the Holocaust the international society understood, there must be established a Jewish State. And a lot of new States were built in this region, after the collapse of Ottoman empire after France and Britain left. The tragedy started, while the almost young UN and the British maybe didn't do enough effort to install the planed boarders, and the Palestines didn't agree to the plan at all. They trusted on the Arab countries around. And therefore a war started. It is necessary to look in the past to understand how the conflict has begun. But one must look forward now, we can't turn the past. One should mention that after Israel was founded at least the same number of Jews had been expelled from the Arab countries. 700 000 to 800 000 as well. This report tells very much the Arab view. Why are there still people living in refugee camps, why hadn't they not be integrated in the Arab countries around? How can the descendants of people who left, or even had to leave, call themselves refugees in the next and overnext generation? They must stop this thought of turning history backwards. There is a need for both: Finally stopping terror against Israel and on the other hand, making the life condition especially in the west Bank better. Gaza is an other theme. From Gaza, Israel went out. It was the one chance to build something for their own. There was a need to create a good relationship with Egypt, for having one free boarder. Egypt don't want terror in its land. They don't want to have the risc Israel might be attacked from their territory, because they have peace with Israel and had been given the whole Sinai back. I do understand that it is a lifelong wound, for those, who left their home. But it doesn't bring anyone forward to lament about the nakba for generations. The last question: Was it necessary to create the State of Israel? Yes, it was. It is the one an only Jewish State, while there are a lot of Christian, Muslim, Buddhist once. A State were Jews can wear a Kippa, without a risc. One can REMEMBER the nakba, but one can't think of turning history backwards. Frontiers nearly never are completely right. Germany and Denmark fighted for a long time, where exactly the frontier should be. We manged it with special rules for the Danish people living on the German side, they have their own speakers in the Parlament. Elsass had belonged to Germany to France to Germany a.s.o. Finally both States have dicided to live as neighbors. India and Pakistan had been departed. 14 millions of Germans were expelled after war, when Germany was made much more smaller. Russia has taken a part of eastern Poland and people were settled in former German houses in the Westen part of Poland. But people have rebuilt their new lifes. No one is still making terror. One can lament the live circumstances NOW. I have the feeling that some among the Palestinians don't want to create their new life, maybe not even want to have an own State, but want Israel to disappear. That is no option.

The Nakbah was self inflicted - it was the defeat of the arab armies that invaded Israel.
