A hardcore fan of retro material from the 80s and 90s. Collecting as many old promos, commercials, and bumpers for what I like to call retro historical purposes to keep these memories alive, whether they'd be obscure or well known.
Creature Double Feature commercial break (June 24, 2006)
Original video by xSnakePlissken on Archive.
Commercials that aired during the revival of the Creature Double Feature on WLVI-TV 56 in Boston, Massachusetts, then a WB affiliate, now a CW affiliate. The films shown include Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster and The Giant Gila Monster. Too bad we didn't have shows like this where I'm from, and the host segments are so bad, they make Svengoolie look like he's Robin Williams. Many commercials repeat a lot, so please play along.

I hope Olbermann finds redemption soon, because I hate to see him end up like Gideon Hackl...

Do you know where this originated from or have any sort of dates for it? There is only one other video that has this full 1 minute version but that one is also in lower quality.
i was born 9/2/1988 i turned 7 years old on september 2nd 1995 i miss fox kids from my 90s childdhood
For some weird reason, CBS didn’t make their own Saturday Morning bumpers that season (1989-90). Maybe due to the 1988-89 writers strike 🪧.
Surprised that CBS didn’t pick up the show for their Saturday morning lineup (CBS Kid TV). I know that Fox did eventually for their Fox Kids lineup (after the show’s popularity exploded), but still…
@@averymerrick before Fox picked up the show, it ran in syndication like a lot of cartoons did back then.
@@misteroldschoolguy Most people don't know that Tiny Toon Adventures had a higher production value than other animated productions at the time with more cels per episode. The animation quality varied depending on which studio animated each episode!
Interesting Abc commercials and I remembered watching this children's show on television. I love this famous restaurant.
I remember the lineup of the 1999 Super Retrovision Saturdaze block when I was in Texas at the time, central time zone. (After 6:00 am-7:00am running of St. Elsewhere) 7:00 am-7:30am The Adventures of Heckle and Jeckle with Quackula 7:30am-8:00am The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang 8:00am-8:30am The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse 8:30am-9:00am Jackson 5ive 9:00am-9:30am Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp 9:30am-10:00am The Harlem Globetrotters 10:00am-10:30am H.R. Pufnstuf (later Land of the Lost) 10:30am-11:00am Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (later The Bugaloos) 11:00am-11:30am The Brady Kids 11:30am-12:30pm Star Trek: The Animated Series (TV Land Goes West lineup to follow after this) (After 12:30am running of Hogan’s Heroes) 1:00am-1:30am The Bugaloos 1:30am-2:00am Land of the Lost 2:00am-2:30am The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang 2:30am-3:00am Star Trek: The Animated Series 3:00am-3:30am Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp 3:30am-4:00am Jackson 5ive (The Joey Bishop Show follow after this)
@susanfit47 I never understood why TV Land demoted the cartoons to the middle of the night. I've never seen a single bumper for that lineup.
ABC’s TGIF for Friday November 25, 1994 (hosted by the cast of Sister, Sister). 0:00-0:24 TGIF Intro and first interstitial 4:05-4:10 Family Matters bumper 5:42-6:02 Second interstitial 11:28-11:33 Boy Meets World bumper 13:21-13:48 Third interstitial and ABC ID 18:33-18:38 Step by Step bumper 19:56-20:17 Fourth interstitial 25:57-26:03 Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper bumper 27:20-27:53 Final interstitial (TGIF outro) & another ABC ID
The sound effects still make this scene funnier.
I love this era of the Disney channel
The Charlie Brown And Snoopy Snow was a mega disappointment for CBS. It's ratings were lower than expected. Not helping that is was up against Alvin & the Chipmunks (in its first season) in the same time slot.
This has to be 1991 at the earliest because there are promos for welcome freshmen and fifteen here and those didn’t debut until 1991.
5 months before Muppet Babies became part of the lineup.
"The Mouse And The Motorcycle" commercial break (November 8, 1986) I really love the part at 3:33 to 3:55. I love the "ABC Weekend Special" with Richard Dean Anderson. April 1989, 7 months before that Disney masterpiece that is The Little Mermaid.
I like other Disney movies better than lm
I remember this like it was yesterday! RIP Saturday Morning Television 😢
The Disney Channel was SO much better back then. There was so much variety and something for every age group. After the late 90s is when the Disney channel began to deteriorate.
Yep. It was a great channel back then. It still had it's moments in the late 90s when they started adding commercial breaks, but I'd say around the 2000s is when the channel really went downhill when abandoning their tradition of having a different variety of programs and movies.
@@misteroldschoolguy Oh most definitely. Especially when they got rid of Vault Disney back in 2002.
1:14 is the same slide that was from Game 3 the 1989 World Series where the San Francisco Giants played against the Oakland A’s where it cut out due to an earthquake.
Pretty sure I may have stumbled across that when doing research.
In sept of '91, I was seven years old.
This is a cool band! too bad it wasn't a full time group where they actually released songs.
The closing credits sequence at 7:55 was taken from "You Asked For it Again". I can tell because the gag credit at 8:20 is "These end credits - Are endless, aren't they?" The closing credits sequence at 16:28 was taken from "High Toon". I can tell because the gag credit at 16:53 is "Coyotes compliments of - Chuck Jones" The gag credits are one of the reasons why I enjoy Tiny Toon Adventures, and since the Tiny Toons Looniversity reboot lacks them, it's one of the reasons why Looniversity is inferior to Adventures.
Hanna Barbera on Disney?
You’d be surprised. Hanna Barbera, Looney Tunes, Fleischer cartoons, they had almost everything which is what made their channel great to watch.
He is so handsome.
Add to that the Pooh characters...don't exactly practice what they preach (they don't wear pants yet Pooh himself has a song about "not okay" touching) and you got one of the _strangest_ "very special episodes" out there.
Ok, so what if Pooh doesn't wear pants? Even if he had bits (he doesn't) their exposure isn't consent; you don't get to touch someone just because you can see their skin.
❤❤❤
I wonder what I was doing earlier that night? All I now was after whatever it was, I was definitely watching TGIF Friday! I never missed it.
Tuna fish and jelly sandwiches? Boy, and I thought Joey Gladstone was a bad cook.
@michaelglickman1300 Joey is pretty much a kid at heart. Nowadays known as a manchild.
ABC's TGIF lineup for Friday September 27, 1991. 8pm - Family Matters (new episode: Brain over Brawn) 8:30pm - Step By Step (new episode: The Dance) 9pm - Perfect Strangers (new episode: The Wedding) 9:30pm - Baby Talk (new episode: Your Loss is My Gain) 10pm - 20/20
Who voiced Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Wimpy in this commercial?
Butthead going into some Spanish sounding gibberish and ending with Rico Suave never ceases to make me laugh.
I think a lot about the first commercial break because of two consecutive scenes that noticeably got cut from the movie for when that break was over!
I truly miss what Nickelodeon used to be: true quality entertainment. Now, it's a shell of itself.
Nick was such a joke in the 2010s. Nowadays, it’s nothing more than a depressing sight of an beyond injured animal begging to be shot
"Real Magic" my foot.
Now this is hilarious!
Also aired on KCOP-TV (UPN 13) in Los Angeles.
Ok, I fixed it. Normally I would need proof to make sure the info is correct, though I take full responsibility for the incorrect airdate because the original video I got this from never once gave the airdate but since it’s two out of one, I stand corrected. I did fix the airdate for part 2 coming up next Sunday. Thanks guys.

Despite earning decent ratings as part of ABC's TGIF block and frequently winning its time slot, *Just the Ten of Us was abruptly cancelled in the spring of 1990.* It was widely speculated that it was due to Miller-Boyett Productions wanting another one of their shows in the timeslot (to join fellow programs Family Matters, Full House, and Perfect Strangers) thereby dominating the TGIF block; and ABC was simply not able to find another slot for Ten. *However, it was really a case of then ABC Entertainment president Bob Iger simply not liking the show.*
@averymerrick it was not a smart move to cancel Just The Ten Of Us when it was receiving rave reviews. Just like Gilligan's Island getting axed for no reason just because the head of CBS was more concerned about Gunsmoke.
