@@andrewmildenberg4210 I’m American so I think it’s fairly standard to want to hear English. Not only that Anime is literally translated into many other languages aside from English. And I will say that some anime voice acting’s can be actually boring in Japanese and sound better in English. Don’t discredit the amazing work that many English voice actors put in. I do think the Kaiju no. 8 dub is really well done.

@dontask9000 I'm American, too, and it's not just Americans who should respect the source material. It's everyone. If you're Brazilian. Watch anime in Japanese with Portuguese subs. If you're German. Watch anime in Japanese with German subs. If you're Dutch.... you can finish the rest. I don't have respect for "the hard work" dubbers do because their work creates a shittier version. Fact is, English dubs will often change dialogue, which ultimately changes the content of what's being said or how it's being said. That's the reality. Dubbers often do this to "make it make sense to Western audiences," which is actually just a polite way to say "dumb it down for audiences too self involved to understand different languages and cultures" And if you truly think Japanese sounds "flat," then I'm afraid that's just your simple American brain refusing to actually listen to different languages. Different languages sound different?! Oh my goodness! Who woulda thunk that?! "bUt I DoNt waNnA tHiNk, jUsT mAkE eVErYonE sPpeAk eNglISh"

@@andrewmildenberg4210 I’m not saying that changes don’t get made. That’s bound to happen if they have to fit the lip flaps already provided. But I do think that sometimes it’s actually done pretty well. So many anime’s have great English dubs that I find more entertaining than the Japanese dub. Sometimes there’s even more personality and emotion put into it in English. I don’t think that’s disrespectful towards the Japanese dubs.

@dontask9000 You know how you don't get those changes? By watching it in Japanese. As intended. And no, the English isn't more "emotive." It is, in fact, less so because of the differences in how emotions are animated. There's a disconnect seeing English words come out of a character meant to be speaking a different language. Call it the "uncanny valley of language." Different languages and cultures end up creating a unique movement in the people speaking it. Think of how Italians move their hands when they speak, which is unique to them. It simply does not match. It's always, ALWAYS, awkward and stilted when compared to its original and intended language because it's not intended to be heard in another language, nor is it made with another language in mind. I fully 1000% believe it is far more respectful to watch anime in Japanese. And that goes the same for any media from any country. If I'm watching a Korean drama, I'll be watching it in Korean with subs. If I'm watching a French film, I'm watching it in French with English subtitles. The subtleties, the movements, the expressions, will always match the original language better than ANY dub, no matter how "good." I don't think there's such a thing as a "good sub." They range from "bad" to "god awful ear cancer.""

@@andrewmildenberg4210you could just let people enjoy what they want .you know live and let live I mean not trying to be rude but I feel like you care a bit to much about something so small like come on man relax it’s not a big deal if someone wants to watch something in a language they can understand that’s just their right dude.
