Waray-Waray (1954) - ENHANCED

WARAY-WARAY (1954) Directed by F. H. Constantino. WARAY-WARAY (1954) was one of the biggest box-office hits of the studio era, starring the top movie loveteam of the 1950s, Nida Blanca and Nestor de Villa.
Upeng (Nida Blanca) comes to Manila as a stowaway and ends up as a cook in a wealthy rich old couple's residence. The elderly husband (Pianing Vidal), who also happens to be Delfin’s (Nestor De Villa) employer, is infatuated by the young feisty probinsiyana to the dismay of the old man's haughty wife (Naty Bernardo). The tomboyish Upeng gets into a lot of scrapes, but being a 'waray', she never backs down, not even from a boxing match.
Written and Directed by F. H. Constantino, based on a DZBC Radio Serial. Starring Nida Blanca, Nestor De Villa, Lorna Mirasol, Leroy Salvador, Naty Bernardo and Pianing Vidal. The song ‘Waray-Waray’ has become one of our most enduring classics, composed by Juan Silos Jr, with lyrics by National Artist Levi Celerio.
