Honestly, no shade to Demi, but she's certainly not the best interpretation of the year, and if she wins it will be just by narrative. In my opinion, Toni Collette, for example, performed better in Hereditary and was not even nominated at the time.

I really was behind Demi's nomination and The Substance's success in general because it's great to see the Academy recognizing this kind of a movie. That said it doesn't sit well to me how Demi is now this huge front runner on the back of her speech and narrative. She was great in the movie but the nomination should be the recognition for that performance, from what I've watched alone, MJB, Torres and Madison were far better performances IMO. I actually think Demi has not given even the best horror performance of this year with the incredible work Naomi Scott did in Smile 2. I guess that's how Oscars are and have always been and every year some of us expect them to be something they aren't. It still drives me crazy how Jean-Basptiste didn't even get a nomination, she and Torres should be the real favorites to win and Madison with real upset chances.

I really disliked KSC performance, sorry for that. IMO her spot belonged to Nicole Kidman. Love all the remain performances. I would not know who to pick... Best Actor is Adrien Brody. 100% agree with your thoughts about Colman Domingo. Cheers from 🇮🇹

Anyone who has watched any of your videos this award season could have predicted which two would be in the top slots. 😉 I love how you described all ten performances. Highlighting what makes them all award-worthy, giving all of them a moment to shine in your video, well done. My personal favorite is Sebastian Stan. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased as I have been a fan of his for many years now, but one of the reasons for that is how versatile he is in his roles. And even knowing that and what he is capable of, he still managed to impress me with the Apprentice.

Seriously Marisa Tomei-level of satisfiability, then on top of that, she took that role and made it a career defying role. And she ain't even done yet, folks), 2. Fernanda Torres, I'm Still Here (Honestly tie for #1, she makes me want to hug her for how good she is) 3. Adrien Brody, The Brutalist (Perfection, although I wish there was some narrative re: rape) 4. Demi Moore, The Substance (Who knew Demi would be a horror girlie with a statuette - possibly?!) 5. Cynthia Erivo, Wicked (Defying Gravity = perfection) 6. Colman Domingo, Sing Sing (A performance bogged down by melodrama) 7. Ralph Fiennes, Conclave (Lord Voldemort plays a cardinal, succesfully) 8. Karla Sofía Gascón, Emilia Pérez (Besides, the controversy, this co-lead performance is stand-out) 9. Timothée Chalamet, A. Complete Unknown (lack of emotional beats) 10. Sebastian Stan, The Apprentice (I liked it, but not enough to rank it above any other 9 other nominees. I found this performance to be sorta half-assed but saw it coming) That's just me :D Also i know this is besides the point of this vid, but I will say time and time again, why was Carlos Diehz not given a campaign?! I mean, come on *rolls eyes* that's literally the most impressive acting in the film

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm to talk about I’m still here. 25 years ago we suffered to much because Montenegro, Torres mother, didn’t win the Oscar’s best actress with Central Station movie, so now we are in the same position to final World Cup here in Brazil for I’m Still Here on Oscar. So I recommend so much for you watching Central Station Movie you’ll be emotionally too, that’s so good and hard to. Thanks for your review.

I love Demi, but many actresses could replace her in The Substance. No one could replace Fernanda Torres in I'm Still Here.

The film I'm Still Here very accurately portrays a Brazilian and Rio family from the 70s who lived through the horrors of the military dictatorship. It was a society that smiled, was happy, and had great family ties to somehow alleviate the fear of the political regime of the time. The songs were composed with double-meaning messages to convey a manifesto against the oppression experienced at the time. TV programming needed to be controlled by the military. I'm Brazilian and I lived through that time.. MANY FAMILIES lost their loved ones to this political regime that tortured, killed, hid bodies and many other artrocities. The worst part is that they managed to get away with it when Democracy returned to Brazil in 1988. The country almost didn't return to this bad time in the frustrated attempt at a military coup promoted by the former president who was defeated in the last elections (Bolsonaro) I'm still here, it represents a cry from all minorities who are oppressed because they think or are different in the eyes of a government that instead of governing by taking care of its people, chooses to oppress, silence, kill, and remove the smile from a citizen's face.
