l moved to San diego with Carl evans, hollis gentry at the pacific cafe or the pelican (LA JOLLA) ,the LA Jolla was a bust, there were more waitresses than people, the band was great....me and a lead singer as l am teaching him real talent and there is no audience, very strange, but the music kickeda$$
Be very careful,if you listen to this over 3 times, you will always sing this song to yourself for the rest of your life,as well the rest catalog, thank you fatburger,p.b.cafe,rusty pelican la jolla....ect.1985,1986
This version of "Good News" might be better than the album. Certainly funkier The dude dancing at 0:15 is the vibe. It's starting to look a little spazzy in the next shot, but he hit that one
Nice performance...I have several of their CDs, and didn't realize that One of a Kind was originally released in '86 (have the '93 edition). Most unfortunate about Carl and Hollis, but at least they were able to enjoy excellent musical success.
Saw them once live @ The Cubby Bear, Chicago 89-90 or so. Steve had already left. But the set was awesome. One of my all time favorite bands. RIP Carl Evans
Still have the beautiful DaVinci book Carl gave me as a B’day present. All the memories of opening Holy Smokes. It was a good time. RIP Carl and Hollis.
Grew up on these guys! Actually found two autographed albums at record shop in Ocean Beach a couple of weeks ago! 03/2024. I feel blessed. I miss these guys a lot! RIP Hollis & Carl
Alan Phillips is still a good choice though for their sound. But Carl Evans Jr. is irreplaceable as stated by Alan Phillips and an idol. I wish I got to see him. But I was only 10 before he died.
Have everything that they produce...... Miss them every time every time they came to Houston for jazz live at the Hyatt but finally did get to see them at a real nice place called The Rockefellers which was great venue for jAzZ and even now miss the sound that
I love Fattburger. They play jammin' jazz. Great writers. I have 3 full length recordings of Fattburger on cassette tape. TIME WILL TELL 1989, LIVING IN PARADISE 1988, GOOD NEWS 1987

Hollis Gentry on saxophone was amazing, and by the way he is the founder of Fattburger.

Fattburger is not the same anymore without Carl Evans Jr. It's a pity

I have been a fan of Fattburgers since 1985. I was stationed in San Diego and frequently went to their shows. Great music and great memories.
