Who's this fella? Why does he have so many definitions that's "his own" definitions that, by his own words, don't agree with the definitions that're in his students' books?
Thank you, Jason
Wow
I came for the intro but stayed for the lecture 😅
Thank you so much for the lecture. I am taking Cultural Anthropology this summer and your lecture definitely helped me be motivated for the class to be complete and giving me the confidence to register for the class as well. I appreciate it.
Are you single ❤
I'm enjoying these.
Avicii is dead
Africans and African Americans can have dark or brown skin. For example Michael Jordan, Legendary Bernie Mac or Kevin Garnet (basketball player) are all AA with dark skin versus Jayson Kidd. Former South African President Mandela or Celtics coach Ime Udoka- 💯 Africans with light skinn. Only culture is different but Europeans like to exaggerate it all. Make effort to understand how this professor. Just for laughs-all blacks women know how to twerk 🤣
Perhaps you could start with a definition of art, in stead of giving all kinds of preconditions that have to be recognized to call something art. At first sight art seems to elude all definition and wants to claim something strictly transcendental in modern society. In ancient Greece something comparable to art was called 'KALI TECHNI', good creations, good works, good makings. The ways of good craftsmanship. The art, the way of doing, making. As an anthropologist we have our crafts and skills, have to use those ways to create knowledge and insight. In short, the art of the anthropologist, science is one of the arts.... as music or sculplting or wielding or gardening. Perhaps art in our society has become the art of making art, has has become self_reflective. ljd, artist with a master's in anthropology :)
Thanks Jason. This is only the 2nd video of yours I've watched but I now plan to go through the course. It's all so interesting.
Me to
Truly wish I could watch. Hopefully in the future you can add captions for hearing impaired. I can’t take in the full value of everything you’re saying because I can’t hear you. :(
Traditional values refer mainly to circles and curves which reflect in their Art, the way they meet and often their habitat. The technological world we live in sits on linear structures physically and mentally. On one side we have circles, on the other we have squares: for one to directly fit with the other, one has to dominate! Equality between the two may require to go into virtual mode: with a non competitive approach, one can go back and forth from one to the other and experience the journey. To start with the conception that one is right and the other wrong is not leading to solutions, to adopt one approach or the other according to circumstances would be more like it! We may like the idea, but have no illusion about a global application, we can then possibly make use of this concept at our level.
Please don't touch your face. Please, please, please...
