honestly you hit the nail on the head with this video. i came out to medellin randomly from philly 2 years ago met a girl and have come back a few times for a few months. the notion that medellin is pennies on the dollar vs america is hilarious. i see other videos talking talking about going to a sit down restaurant and the average costs are $3 for lunch. $3 barely buys an arepa. i do think the major draw personally is weather for the price. hard to beat 80 year round. Philly is usually 30s in the winter 90 in the summer and seasonal depression hits hard there. Also in the US you have to have a car for a lot of cities and medellin is an easy city to do without one.

Its a 3rd world Country just like Canada. I've been living in Toronto Canada for a while now (not by choice) and i experience the same thing. I took the US for granted. To me aside from the women the US is the greatest Country in the world by far. It took me living in another Country to realize this.

What’s up Kari! I found your channel recently. I’m here now and this is my 4th time in Medellin this year. I usually stay in poblado for about 20 days or so. I pay around $1200-1500 for an air Bnb. I found Medellin early 2024, keep in mind I am chef on cruise ship so I am seasoned traveler. I have throughly enjoyed the P4P seen. It works for my lifestyle but the honeymoon stage has finally started to wear off. I sometimes wonder how it would be to seriously date, but with all the risk and the type of girls I like, I’m most likely doing the smart thing keeping things at arms distance. In Asia, people are so poor and I don't act like that. My opinion is that it is disgusting. Because of their behavior, it will always be so terrible there. I feel sorry for the normal people. In the tourist center you pay a little extra for alcohol, it's probably everywhere. I was home for a month over the summer in Kentucky where it was SUPER hot everyday. Could barely go outside without being drenched in sweat. Coming back to Medellín after that trip with the fresh air on taxi home to Poblado was definitely euphoric. But that does wear off. I try to be mindful of how lucky I am and put things into perspective. Remember moments like that.

If you didn't want them to be with you about finances, then why did you choose a developing country? You could've stayed in The States to get with financially better off options. There's some conginitive dissonance going on here. If you want any semblance of that in Colombia, you'll have to get out of Medellin AND go up the estrada to at least #4.

It's definitely different than living in the USA. I love it, I've been here 4 years and I live in a regular neighborhood. I have to renew my 3 year visa next year. Get out of Poblado and ditch those tourist glasses.

I’ve lived in MDE since February this year. All your points are valid and honest to god it just takes finding what makes you joyful in life. I moved from Miami and for those who know understand how superficial that city is. I’ve grown to enjoy MDE VERY MUCH. It has its pros and cons but the Colombian ppl are big on family. The women can be complex (but that is almost in every major city in any country) Remote work is lonesome at times but you have to find time to get outside as much as possible. Days I’m not on calls for my business I’m usually out with my dog most of the day. Would love to connect sometime brother I live in Envigado 👍🏽
