Omtech 100W CO2 laser cutter is a decent machine for the price, but it definitely has its drawbacks. The first issue I encountered was that the software is clunky and difficult to use, often requiring multiple steps to achieve even basic tasks. The build quality feels a bit cheap, and the laser itself is prone to getting misaligned, resulting in uneven cuts.

I just got mine.. the company onows everyone swaps out the fan, why don't they upgrade from the factory, you spen that much on it and have to upgrade a bunch of stuff after the fact..

I’m looking at this same laser, what’s the difference between this model and the blue models that are on the website? I see these ones listed on eBay for like $1200 cheaper.

The cooling system is poorly designed. The OMTECH CO2 laser overheats frequently, leading to disruptions and frequent pauses during operation

The door switch looks like an inductive prox switch (senses the metal of the door) -- so most likely it's just not positioned correctly. Depending on the model, it may only have a sensing range of 2~3mm. If it is an M12-threaded sensor, then you can adjust its distance further towards the door to allow it to work correctly by loosening the nuts on the front and back, then screw it forward, then lock it back in. Can also use a ferrous metal (eg. steel wrench) to test it.

if you want to swap out the built in extractor fan for an inline fan you can, or upgrade the built in one, just do not go higher then a 600cfm fan, too much vibration caused by the air and the wood/acrylic can shift around. I find a 450 cfm with variable speed works perfect for mine. keep it around 200 for light engraving and then full 450 for cutting . but I also pump mine through a filter box so i am not venting conditioned air during the summer.

It should, but if u cut a lot of acrylic get 150w. Faster and cut like a butter, also cut 1/2 inch wood.

Realign your laser by adjusting your mirrors. Then updrade your lens from cloudray. It blike $20 lens. Make sure you get the US laser lens. Then get a compressor for the air assist. It will run like a top

I just bought the same machine and it was delivered yesterday. I am swapping the fan out for an inline duct fan now. Will have to run the ground cable like you did. I saw another video that suggested sanding down some of the paint inside the cabinet for better contact. I forget where it was located, but I'm trying to find that video again. Happy burning and thanks for the video!

I just got this same unit delivered yesterday and was amazed at how incredibly low the unit sits, even on the pallet it's insanely low! With the bed lowered all the way down it's only about 11" to the top of the bed! I'm planning on building a riser for mine and it looks like I'm going to have to raise it about 18" to be at a comfortable height and I'm only 5'7" lol

If you want to get better mileage from the laser tube without replacing the tube then you should run the tube max. ~70% power. Keep them coming :)

I had the same problem with the door sensor but I'm using RD Works so I just taped a small piece of aluminum (steel would work too) in front of the sensor. My unit is about 11 months old and I'm very happy with it. Take some time to do a very precise aiming of the laser. Mine was out quite a bit and the table also was out of level by about 1/4 inch on the front right.

So stunning! Wow! I could be completely wrong, as I’m waiting for the delivery of resin, for my first project so I’ve just been watching several hundred videos, trying to learn as much as possible. So, here’s my question: Can you use different types of resins, on the same piece? Say the river portion needs a more expensive resin. Can you use a less expensive resin over the entire piece, if you’re only doing a thin coat? I may have misunderstood, so please forgive any dumb questions. I’ve noticed when re-watching videos, new pieces of information are acquired. (Bc let’s be honest, there’s a lot to learn.) TIA

Hi, thanks for the video, very helpful. Do you have any issues with cleaning the internals of the fan? I currently use the standard Chinese metal fan like the one you have in this video. I cut a lot of wood with it, and it needs cleaning quite often. Hoping this quiet fan is ok to clean?
