    I don't like the pump running with not enough water in the basket housing. After i stop the pump, i hurry up and close the valves to the skimmers, main drain, and the filter and that housing stays filled to the top with water. After I reinstall the cap, I'll open all the valves again before startup

    • @PoolProAnswersDIY
      @PoolProAnswersDIY 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats true, it would work to cut the surface tension, however, the foam could become an issue and the addition of unknown chemicals could throw the balance of the pool water off. I've seen client pools deal with adverse side-effects from adding dish-soap to a pool last for many months. There are even specific types of foam creating chemicals for 'foam-parties' so as not to mess up the pool chemistry when used. Typically best to stick with products formulated for swimming pools or spas.

    But if you have a sand filter that can only handle 70 GPM why would you run your motor to push 90-105 GPM through your system. On Quicklean the motor runs 3450 RPM and that pushes around 100 GPM through your system That's a good way to tear it up

    • @PoolProAnswersDIY
      @PoolProAnswersDIY 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even with those wurface cleaners the water needs to be filtered. If you have a variable speed pump, I would try running it at lower speed for longer duration. That should save you on electricity costs and still get you the turnover your pool needs. You can find out your ideal GPM on your pool, or in most cases eyeballing it will be fine. I'd start at about 30% power and adjust from there. Just make sure you are getting flow through your filter by cracking the purge valve, water should come out no matter what speed your at, if not you need to increase.

      sounds like you might have your pump connected to an external controller. Is there a black plug mounted to the side of your controller going to another panel? Do you know if you have automation? If so that's how you control your pump.

    The 90s into and out of the pump is definitely a no. There should always be more pipe at the inlet and outlets. 90s add about another 10ft of pipe to a system and air gets trapped at the top of the bend in the 90

    • @PoolProAnswersDIY
      @PoolProAnswersDIY 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      very true. Unfortunately, where we work we are typically forced to work in very tight quarters. I think most other areas of the country don't understand those limitations. Our equipment pads (like this one) are from the 70's tract housing where the pool was an afterthought shoehorned into the space and unless a homeowner is willing to spend a lot more money we can only work with the space and configuration we have.

  • @miamiinfinity5625
    @miamiinfinity5625 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It does not make sense you have to run it much longer for the water to cycle atleast 3 times a day. I believe that it basically costs you the same as a normal pump. I thi k the only positive is less wear and tear on the pipes and filters

    • @PoolProAnswersDIY
      @PoolProAnswersDIY 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The math is pretty clear when you hook a meter up to the pump and calculate your cost of electricity, running VSP at a lower rpm is much more efficient on the wallet.

      @MIAMI305LIVE 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Running them longer at lower speeds absolutely saves energy and money. It also keeps the pool cleaner. Make sure those pool returns are facing down towards the floors.

    Pool is green. There doesn't seem to be much pressure coming out of the outlet port in the pool, (not like normal) nor much pressure on the inlet going back to the pump/filter. Could this be a filter problem? Clogged? The pump is less than a month old

    • @PoolProAnswersDIY
      @PoolProAnswersDIY ปีที่แล้ว

      For the best filtration of the pool, you need a certain amount of turnover. Variable speed pumps, when dialed.in correctly, allow you to meet the turnover requirements over a longer period at lower speed which uses far less energy than even running a single speed pump for fewer hours which would actually result in less than desirable water quality. They are also much more versatile for use with multiple applications on one body of water.

    Hi Tim, hope you can help me out here. I had this pump for just over one year. We had a bad lightning storm one night with almost a direct strike to the house. All the electronics in the house survived, but when I checked on the pump in the morning, the display was blank (back lit only), the power indicator (the little lightning symbol (of all things 🙄) was lit, but none of the keypad buttons worked, and the pump would not run.
