Yo where's is your ink coming from?
In the States, they've neutered the artform with bs health regulations. If you get infected then you're gross and how you live is gross. If you can't care for a paper cut and keep it clean, then you have a lot more problems in life. 🏴☠️
Tattoo infections are 9/10 because the skin is overly damaged by the artist, or there's a reaction to the ink. Infections from bad hygeine from the tattoo artist are so rare I would say it doesn't really happen at all. It's always because the Skin is overworked. Valid comment, thanks.
@AxelDaleTattoo Thank you! I never knew overworking the skin would be one of the causes, but it totally makes sense. *bows politely*
Tbh guys dont stress out bout the machine. U can literally tattoo with a guitar string on a cd player motor.
thank you! how important is the tattoo machine - will a cheap one from Amazon be harder to make good lines than if you buy a high quality machine? Or is the quality of the needles important?
They are both pretty important in my opinion. I would say quality needles will make more difference in the outcome of the tattoo though.
@AxelDaleTattoo Thank you!
Do you give tattoo trainings ? From totally beginner 😅
I have tutorial videos on my channel you can check out :-)
Do you give tattoo trainings?
Thanks for advices!
Great advice man. Thanks a lot. I'm starting on tattooing now, and it can be very overwhelming sometimes, so many things to take into account. Thanks to people like you a lot of rookies can have some guidance. Keep it up!
No problem! You're welcome

Tattoos also have a deep history in Scotland. The Pictish people who inhabited the Highlands and Islands in the early Middle Ages got their name from the Roman word picti which meant painted. As the people themselves were painted. I e they were tattooed.
In the late 70s and early 80s in Australia nearly all the tattoo artists whos shops i freaquented with older friends were in their 70s and had been tattooing since the 50s ( and the shops flash looked like it) but by the mid 1980s they hit their mid to late 70s and retired mostly because of arthritis, they had been wearing glasses since the late 1960s. I was lucky to get my first couple off them before that entire generation and tattoo culture disapeared as society became less conservative and the cool kids instead of working class kids on their way to being outlaws got them.
Great insights in to tattoo history there. Thanks!
hands shaky, next video
Well arthritis is a medical condition that you can get when you're older but I'm not sure it applies to everyone like vision loss etc. I'm sure most people get shaky hands at some point though.
lol do you really believe in this? the truth is the government puts a slow working poison in the tattoo ink so that tattoo artists die early so they do not need to pay retirement/pensions, as tattoo artists make much money they need to pay high pensions if they didnt.
I’m sorry but that job is not too demanding! Your back will be ok! Stop making excuses for everything!
Carpal tunnel syndrome, other major health issues, etc.
Shaky hands? Duh?
off the bat they get sick of it i dont think its a dexterity thing you have to be way old most the time to get shakes an stuff
I’m 45 and getting back into tattooing after a 17 year break, my kids and their friends can’t wait for me to start on people again, horses for courses. If a young person wants to be tattooed by a ‘cool’ looking young person, that’s fine but it’s more about the skill than the package. Oh and yes, I had to have a special optical prescription for drawing/ tattooing, it only needed to be adjusted for distance as it’s different to the reading distance. My grandpa was a tattooist for soldiers back in the day too. As far as the back goes, I got a saddle chair.
This kind of shifted my perspective. Well done
People ask how I can be Christian and tattooed? I know history Respect for many cultures The Lion of Judah completed the prophesy of the old testament. Matthew 22 36-40 Leo aka Archdaemon

Any tips on shaky lines? I can't find anything helpful. Usually, people say, "Just practice more," but I feel like I'm still doing something wrong.
9/10 it's incorrect throw, stroke or voltage setting. Try a short throw while pressing harder and going really slow on like 6 volts. Also make sure there's plenty of ink in the cartrdige. Report back after.
@AxelDaleTattoo I do exactly that, but slower lines are even shakier. I'm trying to relax my grip on the pen, it seems to work a little bit.
@@SeiergaRugendorf Record yourself and send it to my instagram @axeldaletattoo
It really is practice and muscle memory on how to hold and grip your machine. Try a fatter grip so you aren’t squeezing as hard which can lead to shaky hands

Please make a ideo on texture shading and how to improve line work.
Definitely will do! Stay tuned. Thanks for the suggestions!
Please stop revealing all the industries secrets you’re hurting my business I’m competing with 16 year olds With Amazon machine
Hear where you're coming from. Tattooing is one of the only art forms that still tries to be secretive about the technical skill. These days it's too accessible so I feel people may as well have good information. Thanks for watching!
@@AxelDaleTattoo I understand I my self learned a lot from different people on TH-cam including pony Lawson I guess there’s no more gate keeping
Shut up
good video and nice info. Subbed
Thanks a bunch for the sub! A lot better content to come in the future.
What are you talking about 25° angle? With what the needle halfway in the skin or need to elaborate on this please.. do you mean the needle is flat in the skin, but you slightly turn the machine a bit to make an angle ?
This is only for magnums. You're rotating the needle rows slightly so that that you are not hitting the skin flat on, you're basically decreasing the gaps between the needles by using it at 25 degrees. Hope that makes sense! 🙏
@AxelDaleTattoo .. ok, so if I touch the mag to the skin( flat the whole mag touches,) now I turn or twist the machine to the right or left a bit / 25°..then go forward, packing like this ? I thought that's what you meant as I heard that before but I forget to do it.. thanks
@@Bodycam-uploads Exactly so you're using it like a diagonal brush. Let's say you're moving right to left; Instead of | <--- you want / <----
If you check out the graphic where I explain packing in black it shows perfectly. 😀
@AxelDaleTattoo got it.. thanks man I appreciate it

You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Guys
Really fascinating!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! Tried something new with this one.
hello! Thank you for this video, It was very informative. i am a 21 year old art school student looking to get into tattooing as a career, and i know little to nothing about how tattoo machines work. I'm looking for a pen style rotary machine, something very versatile, as my artwork ranges from realism to anime, from intricate to simple, I'm definitely all over the board. If you have any recommendations , please let me know! I recently came into some funding and my budget is between 1000-2000, so I really need some advice, because I don't want to spend that much and end up with something that isnt for me. and also if you have any informative videos about how tattoo guns work, I would greatly appreciate it!
Do you change gloves for building up applying stencil and breaking down? I went through 3 pair yesterdays session through sheer paranoia 😢
Use gloves to put the Stencil on and then get a new pair once you start the tattoo so you don't get dye everywhere. When you start tattooing you will go through gloves like crazy don't worry about it.
I was just practising shading on my leg on a 7.5 volts with a 2.5 stroke 17 bugpin curved mag and my skin got sore n red real fast using a steady pendulum technique which I perfect on fake skin. On upper leg. Wonder what I'm doing wrong!? 😅
Possible issues: 1. Incorrect angle of machine. 2. Hitting same area of skin too much 3. Not enough Vaseline 4. Not enough ink flow 5. The needle is too far out of the cartrdge and is not puncturing the skin properly and/or ink flow issue. Hope that helps!
@AxelDaleTattoo thank you I'll print this off for my next go 🙏
How in the hell did you stretch to do your own forearm? That looks amazing
It's quite easy, you can use 1 finger to stretch in a particular direction. It takes a lot longer though.
@AxelDaleTattoo I wonder if you could also put a large hair clip on the back of your arm to tighten a bit more 🤔
@@andyhowden7655 Yeah I thought of doing that initially, like a clothing peg, ha! Wasn't necessary in the end.
Is tattoo insurance essential?
For studios yeah you'll have Public Liability and Treatment Liability insurance most likely. If you're self employed you wouldn't need it. Edit: I don't give legal advice so you will need to get speak to somebody qualified. Many thanks :)
A lot I didn't know in here. Sending my appreciation 🙏
Thanks for coming to watch 🙏
Where do I dispose of the cartridges they wont collect from residential locations
You can take them to a pharmacy that does needle exchange (UK)
@AxelDaleTattoo really no way that's excellent
@@andyhowden7655 Check out my most recent video if you have time "The Fascinating History of Tattoos" and thanks for watching 😊
@@AxelDaleTattoo will do pal!
Thank you!!
You're welcome. 🙏
Man like Otsy
Really interesting video, didn't realise there was such a rich history with tattoos
I have the same model but most of the time thermal paper stucks and tearing apart.I have cleaned the roller inside of it but still happens.Do you have any idea? How can I fix it?
Take a video and send it to me on socials. It must be an issue with how the paper is prepared or not being fed through the machine properly first.
Did you find the solution? I have the same problem, when the design is linework it prints well, but when I try to print a more complicated image with shadows it just gets stuck and tears the paper.
@@rocketman3066 Sounds like it's getting too hot. Try turning down the settings a bit and also fading your image slightly before printing.
You don’t get that blurry look once healed after using round shaders for lining?
No definitely not as long as you have the proper technique. You'll only get a blurry look from incorrect application in my experience. Thanks so much for watching!
You don’t get that blurry look once healed after using round shaders for lining?
I love these tips, my only gripe is the 1RL is my FAVOURITE liner. Along with 3RL as a close second. So many small details that look amazing and could not be achieved by a 3RL, I don't understand how you could brand it as a "complete waste" + making ghost lines if ur stencil starts washing away is super quick, easy, and out of the way with a 1RL Even things I hit with a 3RL I'll usually pass over first with a 1RL. All that being said, I do probably use the 3RL most of the time, but I appreciate and enjoy using the 1RL most.
For beginners I recommend bugpin 3RL (long taper) for super fine line because it holds more ink and doesn't damage the skin as much. That's why I don't recommend 1RL's, it can cause a lot of damage to clients skin if not used properly the thing is like a razor blade. I feel the difference in lineweight between the two are negligible but the 3's are just much easier to work with IMO. Appreciate your methods though and if it works for you then I think it's good!
@@AxelDaleTattoo ohh I gotcha. That makes sense
