I grew up in this area and these bridges along with the Brookport, IL bridge will forever haunt me! No desire to go back!
I worked at Land Between the Lakes when the bridge was hit.. those bridges were as bad as these two.

The second bridge, into Missouri is the worst of the two. The joins between the bridge segments absolutely suck, so you are bouncing up and down the entire way over the bridge. So you get narrow ass sketchy bridge that is high up over the water and you feel like you are going to bounce off the bridge at any moment. Fun times!

I've been trucking since 1980. I crossed these about two years ago, I'll never forget it. The first bridge shook me up, the second one made me cry as soon as I reached land. I was on two bridges that collapsed shortly after I crossed. The first was the big bridge in Tampa when the barge hit it. The second was the I-85 interchange bridge in Atlanta a few years ago. It was on fire at rush hour, fell 20 minutes after I crossed. I'm not scared of much, but bridges freak me out.
thanks for the comment I probably could not drive across that bridge if i did I would have to drive in the middle of the bridge with my flasher going moving over of course with on coming traffic probably be a little dangerous but I would be careful if that make sense
I am always nervous going over these bridges. When I see another semi coming in the other lane I cringe. In the beginning of my trucking years... I hated heights! I had a death grip on the wheel. I am better now 😊. I used to work at Land Between the Lakes. I crossed the bridge everyday going to work that was hit by a barge. I traveled it the day it was hit. Scary!!

I'm not new! I have been driving for 8 years and my husband has been driving for 22 years. Sorry, we do not like CBS. We are not alone, because CBS are going out of style.

This one is beautiful, the old one was slightly spooky but it is because I saw on the news where a barge hit one section and tore it up
Yes, I worked at Land Between the Lakes and drove across it twice a day then. It took months to fix and we had to drive around.

Very nice town! We went to school and lived there from 1998 to 2004. I often think of the days there.
We moved to Murray in 2000 from Eastern KY. My husband and I love it here.
I be been over them before driving an 18 wheeler, scared me tremendously I never want to go over those again, I’m retired now
I got to cross twice in one day. Too much fun for one day lol. We are enjoying our new run from Mississippi to California and back.

This was near Victorville, CA. We don't live in California, but we deliver and pick up loads in California.
Near Iowa City? Been on I 80 a few times. You might have passed a lady in a black truck with a green and yellow canned ham camper. Probably saying a few choice words at me because I always drove 55, because it saved gas and kept the trailer from swinging too much.
We drove I-80 a lot. Right now we are running I-40 Nashville to California.

@@husbandandwifeteam I've traveled alot the past four years and each year got a little worse. The truckers were good and left me alone, but there was one creepy experience where I pulled into an unofficial rest area that truckers just used to rest. I no sooner got my stuff situated so I could sleep when I got a creepy feeling about a trucker behind me. I believe the Creator gave us those instincts to keep us safe, so I got outta there.
Smart you left. It is always better to be safe. I have been teaming for 7 years now with the husband. I've had one creepy rest area experience that made me nervous. I went into the ladies room. I chose the middle stall. I heard someone come in and enter the stall to my left. The next thing you knew the person was making a lot of sounds, talking, grunting, and I was thinking wait till they leave. Just wait until they leave. Finally, they left. I came out and headed to the truck. My husband was sitting in the passenger seat. From where we were parked and the rest areas class windows you could see the ladies room door. I asked my husband did you see someone come out before me. He said, "yes, a big guy came out before you.". I was thinking of boy!!!

Agreed. Crossed these bridges just a couple days ago, both ways, a few days apart. As you can see, the truck is completely on his own side of the yellow line. In a normal car, it's no big deal.
At 5:28 where you pass the CFSB at the corner of S 12th and Sycamore, that's where the house I grew up in used to be. Next door to that was my grandma's house, and then next door to that was a little house with a realty office and an upstairs apartment where my Aunt lived for a short time. It's so weird seeing it all just got turned into a bank. All the same, I love the video, hope one day I find myself back in Murray.

That’s the new bridge in Louisville. Now the Kennedy one is a toll bridge
They could have filmed Mad Max in Vernon. It’s unbelievable how ugly that city is. Potholes, trash and graffiti. It is a pure industrial area. That city gets an incredible amount of taxable income from the factories and pockets it all without any of it being put into the city.
I remember going across those back in fall 1994; , you felt like you were going to Fall off. The truck stop was neat, it had fuel barges tied up to service the pumps instead of underground tankage.

I was at "The Homeplace" for about 8 years. Yeah, I had to drive to Dover, TN and up LBL to work when the bridge was out. I was happy not to be on the bridge when it was hit. Lol I went from 1850 to a semi.

Been over those bridges hundreds of times. Still makes my butthole pucker. The building at the intersection used to be a truck stop of sorts, they had good food.
I remember that truck Stop. When I first moved to Murray, KY I drove my children down, so we could cross the two bridges. We stopped at the station. Grabbed drinks, and turned around. It was scary in a car! No words for driving across in a semi!
Drove over both Bridges a few years ago but it was real late at night, it's more terrifying in the day, these Bridges will haunt my dreams forever
