As a yapper I gotta say love your editing. aside from that I feel that media discussions in general are fraught from years of people trying to have the "right" take on media . Objective and Subjective are thought terminators with regards to media analysis/ reviews.

The thing that bothers me with "objective" analysis or discussion of film (or just anything "art" in general) is how "personal" it can be when choosing what parameters to use to place value or judgement on any kind of art. Should I judge something based on other works that exist within the genre? Should I not, and interact with this work based on the intent of the creator? Does the creator's intent matter? And even when I do have answers to these questions, I find myself asking how, even if something was "objectively good", should this objectively good work be appreciated by everybody in the manner that the objective analysis found it should be appreciated? Does everybody have to understand the historical context and perform constructive comparative analysis to understand why they liked or didn't like 2001 (the Kubrick film)? I think no, since everybody having the same interaction with any specific work is an uninteresting way to discuss art. Were the Star Wars prequels deficient in almost all of its technical aspects, the literal foundations of what makes up a film? Yes, but some people loved it because they found a way to interact with those films in a way that objectivity didn't account for, and that's fine enough if the person is reasonable enough with their "objectively wrong" opinion.

Great video! I think in the next video about terms like these you should definitely provide some sort of loose or specific definition for clarity though. I think that it would really help to bring your argument together

I've always hated when people say "in your opinion" whenever I say something is bad. like no shit it's my opinion, I feel like it's very obvious that I said it in my subjective opinion, so obvious in fact that I didn't feel the need to point out that it's my opinion I feel like a lot of people feel like they're personally attacked whenever someone expresses distaste for a movie, show, game or whatever and try to come up with a random reason to attack the person because of that. I specifically remember when YMS said he though the Mario movie was bad and a lot of people brough up a bunch of unrelated things to invalidate his opinion; I specifically remember someone saying he was racist for something he said about RRR (something about the music I think) just because he didn't like the Mario movie

I watched this movie when it came out, I was 21, didn't really understand myself at the time, nor the movie Yes it was nice and touching and goofy, I recognized the production value and effort, but it didn't resonate with me that much 15 years later, with diagnosed autism and OCD and whole wagon of sh*t I was lucky to be presented by life, this movie hits differently. Thanks for the review, man

Mine goes: 5 stars= Personal Favorite or genuine classic. They change me as a person, and have something to say about more external to take away than just the story or characters. 4 stars: A great movie. 3 1/2 is a good movie 3 stars is dead average 2 is a funny bad movie 1 star has one scene in it that's funny 1/2 star is irredeemable. There is no reason to watch it I also rate things for what they're worth. If I rate Zookeeper, Cat in the Hat, Nutty Professor etc higher , I'm rating them for entertainment purposes. Animated movies for how well they worth as an animated movie. Same for horror, comedy drama etc. The Live action Scooby Doo is logistically a 2 star movie. But I'm rating that shit 5 stars cause it entertains me. It's one thing to put your thinking cap on for big all time movies. But if you're tuning into fucking Norbit, you can't compare it to The Shining. You know what you're signing up for.

This is how I rate movies. I judge movies by what it's trying to be. Not by what it isn't. So if said movie is not a comedy then I won't judge it because it wasn't funny. And ultimately if you enjoyed the movie you enjoyed the movie. If you didn't then you didn't. It's your opinion. I like my steak medium rare. Wtf do I care if you eat it well done 🤦‍♂️your loss
