1973 - 1978 GMC Motorhome Aluminum Radiator Upgrade + Install
Special thanks to GMC’er Greg Keller for the idea on how to fabricate the easy-removal frame!
This project took me a few months but was well worth the time and effort! If you don’t weld or paint anything this can be done in a weekend very easily, but I took it a step further and made sure to make things more easily serviceable in the future.
I flushed out the complete cooling system over the course of about 1,000 miles. Before each trip I drained out the distilled water and added fresh. I did this to avoid any compatibility problems with the John Deere Coolgard II.
Happy motoring everyone and thank you so much for tuning into my channel!

1973 - 1978 GMC Motorhome Rear Wheel Bearings - Repack or Replace with Andrew
มุมมอง 3.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The factory service manual calls for repacking the rear wheel bearings every 24,000 miles. Despite this, my coach had 55,000 miles before I got it back on the road and the drums appeared to never had been taken off. I apologize in advance for not making it clear in the video - you DO NOT need to hammer out the bearing cups/races if you are only repacking the bearings. The only thing you will ne...
Maiden Voyage - My 1977 GMC Eleganza II + INTERIOR TOUR!!

We took the motorhome out for the first time and it was more of a learning experience than anything! The good news is that there were zero hiccups mechanically and the furnace works amazing! We stayed warm but not so dry, there are some roof leaks that will need addressed soon. Not so bad! We stayed the night at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA ... about an hour away from home. The l...
1973 - 1978 GMC Motorhome Shock Absorber Replacement DIY
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a really easy project you can do at home! The shock absorbers are easy parts to get, affordable and make a huge improvement to the ride quality of the motorhome. The impact gun makes this really easy. They are $100 for a good corded one, I highly recommend getting your own if you intend to work on your motorhome alot. Most parts stores have one to rent though, so that is another option ...
Hanging Tanks - GMC Motorhome Gas Tank Install Tips & Tricks
มุมมอง 2.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
You can use a floor jack to do this job or two guys can easily muscle them in. Ratchet straps or a transmission jack might work better. These are original tanks from 1977 as far as I can tell. I cleaned them up using a pressure washer and 00 steel wool dawn dish soap. They came out great but the best part is that both my gas gauges work! The trick to installing the tanks is to do the main tank ...
Repairing The Steel Gas Tanks On My 1977 GMC RV - Silver Brazing Old School Style!
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Be safe if trying this at home. Gasoline is very flammable and explosive under certain conditions. I had washed the tanks last fall and left them to dry (over 6 months ago, with the senders out for extra venting). I used 45% silver brazing alloy. A little goes a long way, watch and learn this old-school technique!

How To Replace The Rear Brake Lines On A 1973 - 1978 GMC RV
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Part 2 of my series on the GMC RV brakes! If your rear brake lines look old they probably are! Don’t risk loosing a brake line and putting your stopping power at risk! The rear brake lines are a specialty part on the GMC and often go neglected. BEST SERVICE WRENCHES? Tool Review with Andrew
มุมมอง 9432 ปีที่แล้ว
These service wrenches are top notch and I wanted to share my thoughts on them. Anyone in the market should definitely consider adding these to their toolbox! They are great for working on hydraulics and in cramped areas! Metric is not much help on the GMC RV but the standard set would be fantastic for these coaches.
23 & 26ft GMC RV Original Airbags Unboxing
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Airbags for GMC motorhomes are a hot topic! I decided on original replacements and am happy with my choice! These airbags are no longer produced by Firestone but these factory replacements are available from many GMC retailers at a fair price. When compared against other options, the slight cost more is worth it in my opinion. These are the only airbags on the market design for this exact appli...

Luckily not while the vehicle was in motion, but it made me nervous about ordering a set. I'd rather stick with the original setup, definitely not doing quad bag setup, but considering alternatives.

I needed a 23 mm stubby wrench to hold back a camshaft while I changed a VVT sprocket on a Honda Accord and the only set I could find at harbor freight that had a 23 mm wrench in it was their surface set and I was actually blown away with the quality and fit and finish of that $60 set of wrenches. It's definitely a forged set and doesn't have that rough sand finish that all of the cheap harbor freight wrenches have. Also for the few times I'd ever need them in my life I think the harbor freight is money well spent which isn't something I usually say about the absolute garbage that comes out of harbor freight.

I appreciate you doing these. I was reluctant to go with these bags because several in the community warned against them for being unreliable. But I really want the original design, so I purchased these and replaced my older aftermarket bags that were installed with brackets that severely limited the range of motion. I installed these with a dual needle pressure gauge to be sure the pressure never exceeded 100 lbs. They worked great for a couple of months with one trip that was just 2 hours away. Then last week BOOOM. One failed while it was just sitting in the driveway with only about 75 lbs of pressure. The company had me mail them the old one before they would replace it. And the did send a new one, but now I have no confidence in this product. I really wish that wasn't the case. I will probably try the 'Sully' bag system next. Many rave about the quad bags, and I may ultimately go that way, but they don't operate the way this suspension was designed to behave.

The stock system was designed and engineered for the motorhomes unique suspension. The ride quality is smoother than quad bag but the quad bag has its dedicated following. I have no regrets using the OEM air bags. My Moms 1978 Royale has quad bags and isnt as smooth over bumps.
