    This is the same style choke as my 78 cb550. ... (I know these are not the carbs but the style is the same with the spring positions)

    This is very hopeful. So the correct height of the float bowl is when there's a hairline gap between the metal tang and float valve button.

    • @mikenixon4637
      @mikenixon4637 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I wouldn't call it a gap. It's a timing thing, not a space thing.

    How many times does one have to wind that spring?!?! I cannot get both sides to spring back like yours

    • @kylepacker3270
      @kylepacker3270 ปีที่แล้ว

      I fixed it. If you see this and are having troubles getting the choke plates to spring back. Loosen the choke place screws on all applied plates. Just loosen them. Not check the springness. Retighten plates

    26mm from under head to end of bolt. I used a washer also. One important note. The head will need a lot of heat before those original studs will come out. Try to do it right after a long ride.

    My 1975 CB750 is a pain in the ass to get on the centers stand. I'm not sure why. It was even harder when I first bought it. I didn't realize it had lowering blocks on the rear shocks. I took those off and it got easier to put on the c-stand, but it's nowhere near as easy as my 1964 triumph 650...that bike goes onto the stand with barely any effort.

    My apologies to anyone who has tried to communicate, ask questions especially, and not received an answer. TH-cam and Apple's iPad seem to have some incompatibilities that make it difficult to find and answer comments. I got an email from TH-cam today saying someone asked about float timing. But the question does not show when I go into TH-cam. The timing as shown in the video is, at the measurement tool setting, the float valve should just have closed. Not before and not after. This is why you barely lower and raise the float, to gauge this timing.

  • @thelegend9299

    Mike Nixon do you start measuring float height when the metal tang is just barely touching the shock absorber on the end of the needle valve

It has Carrillo's, Megacycle cams, a one off cam sprocket system, 67.5 Wiseco's etc etc etc. It should make 120 NA RWHP at least I figure. For crying out loud....my SOHC CB750 /1000cc makes 106.7! 😆

    Graham, Hondabond 4 is for the half-moon cutouts, just as shown in the official manual, and of course for the crankcase halves. To glue the gasket to the valve cover, use 3M #70 or #80. Both are very good and what I use.

      Thanks Mike...valves all done..your booklet made it very easy to follow and logical...I have the other two also had one cam bolt crack on undoing go those but the long bolts for the metal oil feeds are no longer available...I'm waiting for reply from American Cbx club as a member did sell bolt sets..manual just says oil bolts when refitting...so hope all will be OK.. thanks again for quick reply.

    Hi Mike can you use Honda bond 4 to keep valve cover gasket in place so it does not drop when turned over on cbx1000...as I'm refitting a new one after doing valve clearances...using your fab..booklet.

    If you can rotate the screw more than 360 degrees it means someone has hacked on the screw head (cap) with a dremel. So no, you don't need to remove the cap, and yes, the screw is being adjusted. But that is a crappy way to do it. The cap should have been removed instead.
