Minsc and Boo Commander EDH Deck. Swing and Fling! Power Level 8. +1+1 Counters Synergy.
Minsc And Boo, Timeless Heroes Commander Deck Tech.
Review of the 100 cards in a Minsc and Boo, Timeless Heroes Commander Deck. Grounded on +1+1 counter synergies and flinging the hamster at other creatures and players to draw massive amounts of cards. Included infinite combos to compete at level 8’s and not have to rely solely on combat damage for the win.
Build up the hamster Boo to a massive trampling monster and swing through your opponent’s creatures for damage. Then, to add insult to injury, sacrifice Boo to throw him at your opponent’s eyes for even more damage and draw cards equal to his pumped up with +1+1 counters power.
Power level 8.

Power Scale (1-10):
1-8 is “casual” commander.
(High Power 8’s): Finely tuned decks with the best pieces to go for the win. May contain a small number of Salty cards (EDHrec.com Salt score) that work extremely well with the theme of the deck. Sometimes held back by the commander from being full cEDH. May have cards like Mana Crypt, Jeweled Lotus, and reserved list/combo cards. Recommended you let people know this is not a casual deck when you sit down and play. Has been through multiple iterations, many playtests, and is tried and true to get wins.
7 and 8's can have infinite combos to go for the win. Usually includes the best tutors for the ways to achieve the deck’s win conditions. May go for a win around turns 5-7. You will see powerful (and Expensive) cards. Still tries to limit the number of Salty cards (EDHrec.com Salt score).
6: Not the best tutors to achieve your win cons, budget options instead of the technically better cards. may include lands that enter tapped. Seeks to build up to a winning state over time and takes time to develop. Usually does not win before turn 7.
3-5 includes pre-cons and slightly upgraded preconstructed decks. A level 5 can be a strong precon like the Warhammer 40k ones or a deck that is running without the best tutors and interaction, and can have lands that enter play tapped.
1-3 Decks with theme such as People sitting on chairs or wearing hats. More about being thematic and the fun from the lore and synergy of the deck rather than winning. May be just cards that you want to play but does not have efficient deck structure and win conditions.
9-10's are cEDH decks that have a different play style than casual decks and are geared towards that format. They usually include: a direct win line that can go off at any moment, threats in the first few turns to win the game, much higher interaction spells than casual, generally much lower mana cost curves (1-4), only the best cards to go for the win, possibly stacks pieces and cards that would be too salty to play in casual commander.

      🙃haha, nice catch! Sometimes don't get to read all the way through. This reminds of the mechanic where commander damage is still counted even if it doesn't cause loss of life. Like if you have a Platinum Emperium out on the board and they keep attacking with their flying commander they can still get you with 21 points of Commander damage even though your life total doesn't go down.

    Great video! What would i have to upgrade to increase the deck power level? Just fast mana? Is that version better than the 1/1 tokens one?

    • @FINXMTG-sl3nm
      @FINXMTG-sl3nm 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like the Spellslinger version because you can win on a single big turn and out of nowhere. The 1/1 version you would need to either have another card that enables haste, or a card like impact tremors on the board which sends warning signals to the opponents when cast. To be higher power you may want to focus on more infinite combos for damage, card draw, and mana and tutors to get there. If you had isochron scepter, dramatic reversal, mana rocks, and grapeshot that is a storm win right there. Some of the combos in Izzet Blue/Red are more conducive to Niv-Mizzet as commander because you can combo with a single card like curiosity. I like playing at this power level with Ghyrson because it makes it feel more in tune with the theme of the commander, I haven't brewed too much on increasing the power level, but good luck with any upgrades you may have!

    Enjoyed the video! One quick note, though: I don’t believe that Cloakwood Hermit works with tokens, because even though they hit the grave, they are not creature cards and hermit only cares about the ‘card status’. it’s the same reason that the new descend mechanic does not work with tokens either because they aren’t permanent ‘cards.’

      Wow, nice catch! I never noticed that naming methodology before.

    • @OfficerCresky
      @OfficerCresky 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It actually would work. It depends on the actual cards themselves, aka it does with chatterfangs creations. Squirrels if I am not mistaken (if im wrong slap me) they are Creature tokens. or Token Creatures. And since they hit the requirement of it being a creature card, then it still would reach that requirement. It doesnt say anything about it being a permanent within the card text of the enchantment. It just says, "If a creature card was put into your graveyard".

    • @austindutton2998
      @austindutton2998 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OfficerCresky on the battlefield tokens are considered permanents, but not cards. This means they still hit the graveyard to trigger cards like Blood Artist; but unfortunately, they do not work with Cloakwood Hermit or the new Descend cards. Hermit specifically asks for Creature Cards and tokens don’t meet that requirement. Legally, I believe WOTC says you can use anything to represent a token (not just cards; dice are often used) as long as it is fully understood by all players and doesn’t cause confusion.

    • @OfficerCresky
      @OfficerCresky 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @austindutton2998 how do they not meet that requirement? They are creature tokens, much like there are artifact tokens, and yes they may have anything represent them, they are still a permanent representing the object they are a token of. Still a creature, or an artifact. It's merely looking for the creature subtype, and since it states everywhere. Then discards are also plausible. The readout is the same as on Sarulf World Eater, which requires enemy permanents. Same concept, just different targets that require it to proc. Additionally, there are no rules negating that ability working as such in the gatherer website

    This is my first and main commander. Here's my secret tech: any ramp spell under 5cmc that fufills synergy and casting Kru ASAP. Get mana pool to sustain past 10+ a turn and clear board of threats while remaing under devotion. (Cyclonic rift, isochron scepter combo, stasis, howling mine + icy manipulator) Dont mana dump and leave yourself open, if you do know the accepted risks. X spells are the main culprit for my losses, leaving your colored mana empty is a big no no. Going the creature route is more fun, going stax and 2card win combos is also a thing though.

    This deck seems to have only a 5 creatures that are 5 or less mana. How does it survive the early game?

    • @FINXMTG-sl3nm
      @FINXMTG-sl3nm 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right, the hardest part is surviving until you can make your big plays. I usually try to: 1. Try and not be the threat early on, you are just ramping, other players will develop their board and are usually seen as threatening to win the game earlier and draw more pressure. Make sure you have ramp in your opening hand or it will be a rough game. 2. Aetherize is huge and has won me games, you only need to use it when an opponent goes all in on attacking you, don’t use it on just 1-2 creatures. 3. Aetherize, Aethersprouts, Flood of Tears, Cyclonic Rift, and All is dust are used to stall the game to get to Eldrazi, or if you draw it late game, to set up for the win. Since we ramp, we should be able to play board wipes a turn or two earlier then a standard deck, which really helps. 4. Punish people that attack you specifically: Utilize Beast Within, Pongify, Enbringer’s ability, Ugin, and Predator Flagship to target player’s creatures only when they decide to attack you, this can tend to hold off other players from committing more to attack you. 5. if someone is going to combo off with a creature combo or tokens to deal massive damage in 1 turn that is when you use also can utilize counterspells to make it to late game.

    • @FINXMTG-sl3nm
      @FINXMTG-sl3nm 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do like the tremor type damage dealing. When making this deck I went the spellslinger route because it did not work well when going both spellslinger/creature maker. If you make the deck for the creature damage the little devils do a great job of pinging for extra damage, and I originally had some of those devil maker cards in the sideboard. Add in a sac outlet like Phyrexian Altar and it could get pretty crazy. Using a goblins strat and using Krenko with impact Tremors would be pretty fun too!

    How do you feel about the ratio of pingers (both Timmy’s and cast triggers) to spells? I’ve been brewing a Ghyrson deck and was leaning more towards the spellslinger side of things but when I’m testing it I always feel like I either have too many or not enough spells in the deck. How did having 30 spells perform in this deck?

    • @FINXMTG-sl3nm
      @FINXMTG-sl3nm ปีที่แล้ว

      Going heavier on the spellslinger side made the deck more consistent and less susceptible to board wipes. I usually only need 2 creatures in play that ping opps for 1 damage on a spell to start whittling down life totals. Hold back 1-2 other guys in case their is interaction or board wipe and you can rebuild quickly. Then you can set up for 1 turn to finish off opponents with some of the better spells or recursion of spells in your graveyard. Since a lot of the spells are cantrips they can also draw into your other Pingers if you are short. Timmy's are fun, but too slow - the more you have the less competitive the deck seems.
