Fair criticism. It definitely has to do with my biased negative opinion of Perfect World the publisher. I do still believe that it is being done out of greed, but I should have made it clear that Atlus also plays a role in the greed (given they probably want to get into the booming market that is China)

@@KevOrii Yeah it just kinda sounded a bit off, I really did like the rest of the video and thought the way you described the animation was really beautiful and appreciative, mirrored my thoughts in a way I couldn't describe out loud. Would love to know your thoughts on metaphor, do you have a video on it?

@stelanso no video on metaphor yet because I like making videos on things I've experienced and not what I think I'll like. But when it releases and I get to play it, if it's good I'll definitely make one

Can't say I hate Morgana but they're 2/2 now for not having great animal companions. Just give us a dog like P3

@@ryanhatfield8602 I'd prefer 2, 3 and 5. I get some people prefer their overall vibe but I can't get over their lack of character development in the main story. Their social links are so good and rich with it but then you go back to the main story and they feel no different from when they first joined the group. 5 admittedly has this issue but to a much lesser extent as the Phantom Thieves each have their own mini arcs past the palace they appear in (ex: Ryuji overcoming his desire for attention or Makoto finding her own way in life even if it means defying those closest to her). It's no P3 but it's more than P4's main story gave imo

@@connorharnage6697 I just don’t see that as a problem it’s not. Movie the character development is still the best in my opinion and the characters including the minor ones the the best in the series

@@ryanhatfield8602 I don't think it's a problem for the social link characters but it's a big problem to me with the party members. Without development, your experience entirely hinges on you liking them as they are and of the 7 party members, I can only confidently say I like 2 (Naoto and Kanji)

i wonder how many people who call P5 the best persona game have replayed it? not saying this out of some misplaced sense of superiority, everyone is allowed to have preferences, but on my 2nd run through P5R i just found myself hating the writing more & more.. it's so inconsistent, while 4G & 3 (especially RE) have such a polished quality throughout with few lowpoints

I feel the same way. I couldn't really get connected to the characters and story when I played persona 5 compared to when I played persona 3 and 4. In persona 4 the characters actually feel like real friends that you would hang out with and cherish while in persona 5 they kind of just feel like relatively close co-workers whenever they interact. And the story for P5 kind of just felloff after the 2nd palace for me. It honestly just got really boring after that

Personally, as someone who does prefer P5 over P4 (haven't played 3 yet) it's partly because it has better gameplay. Fights are quicker, it's easier to see enemies during fights, there's less time spent sorting through menus (game controllers have more than two buttons), more options to damage enemies, more gameplay variety in the dungeons, more places to spend your time in the world, more ways to level up your social stats, more ways to discard Personas besides fusing them, more ways to gain social link points, Persona negotiations, Baton Passes, Technical Damage, Challenge Battles, Stealth which makes "ambushing" easier (balanced by them surrounding you more easily too) you can make your own tools, can do things in your room after a day in the metaverse, hold down a button to run in both reality and the metaverse, as well as several other things I'm probably forgetting. But apart from the gameplay, the lore and world just grabs me a lot more. It certainly uses the Personas themselves better. Mr. Edagawa's TV classroom is great at tying Jungian Psychology into the story, but you have to close the game to even watch that. P5 does a much better job at showing how everyone's Persona connects to the character, both in the awakening scene and afterward as they use other mechanics like the classroom questions. P4 Awakenings are awesome when we see the characters accept their Shadow, but that comes at the price of the Persona reveal feeling a bit tacked on at the end. It's not as abundantly clear why each character has this specific Persona compared to literally any other, unless maybe you're already familiar with the mythological figure. Meanwhile in P5 you can tell just by looking at them why Ryuji has Captain Kidd and Ann has Carmen, and even if it's not you'll find out very soon. Apart from that, a lot of people just find the concept of teenage gentlemen thieves stealing the hearts of corrupt adults more intriguing than teenagers solving small-town murders inside a TV. There's nothing wrong with either, it's just personal preference. Persona 5 is basically teen rebellion the video game, which despite sounding like a silly concept is done very well. I personally found P5's themes of rebellion and controlling society very interesting. I remembering being shocked that despite the game being made and taking place in Japan, I could very easily see the political situation story taking place in my own country. (Except the part about them forming a new party, that wouldn't happen here. But the rest of it...) This is all amplified by the Protagonist being straight-up a modern day Trickster archetype. I actually took a course on the Trickster in college; it's really cool. What we learned about in class describes Joker from P5 perfectly. If you're interested, I'd recommend Lewis Hyde's essay on the Trickster. While both P4 and P5 have their low points with the writing, I never agreed with the sentiment that the Phantom Thieves don't seem like as good friends as the Investigation Team. Maybe it seems that way because we get to see the Investigation Team being friends while they think the case is closed? Plus the Phantom Thieves don't all go to the same school, so we don't really see them together the way we do the Investigation Team. I don't think that lessens their friendship, though. In fact, when I play I constantly think about how well the characters in each game would fit in with the other, so no wonder they made PQ2. Personally, I think Joker is a much better character than Yu, and that's really saying something when we're talking about mostly silent protagonists. I don't think Yu has anywhere near as much personality. He certainly doesn't show it early on as much as early game Joker did. Then even once he does, he's confident, smart, maybe a little sassy, not very "nice" but still good, which could be interesting if they actually went somewhere with that. But still nothing that makes me care about him the way way P5 made me instantly care about Joker. Sure, Joker's situation and the beginning is messed up enough to immediately inspire some sympathy, but it's not just that. We quickly learn he's a competent, smug, confident, show-off with a flair for dramatics, but he usually has the skills to back it up. But he also won't hesitate to protect others, even when it comes with bad consequences for himself. Even though sometimes it seems like Morgana and Makoto are the real leaders of the Phantom Thieves, I never forget Joker is there, even when I'm shouting at the screen to let him speak. Yu, on the other hand, half the time feels like a walking camera. That's fine, because everyone else's stories are more than good enough for the protagonist to just be a player insert. But P5 managed to have awesome stories for the rest of the cast while also having a great lead. So those are some of the reasons I prefer P5. Don't know about anyone else.

Hijacking the thread, as I've said in another comment, I do agree that the story is the weakest aspect of the game. What keeps P5, at least for me, as the best in the series is everything else. Music is a huge selling point for me so its heavily carried by that. The main cast of 5 is definitely weaker compared to 4 (and mostly likely 3), but outside the main cast, P5 has some great confidants. In 4, I couldn't get myself to be invested in any character outside the party, but in 5 almost every confidant I liked for one reason or another. I have heard that 3's social links are some of the best though so I'm excited for that. The gameplay I feel is a lot better. Having a slightly more streamlined progression helps with the usually monotony of grinding that are present in JRPGs. Mementos was typically what I disliked the most in its gameplay, but it was far better than P4's Dungeons (and I'm assuming P3's Tartarus). Palaces themselves are fun to run around and explore. Story is important don't get me wrong. It's the reason why some of the Yakuza games are my favorite. But P5's presentation is top notch from its masterclass UI and menus, to its subtler details such as the ink splashes as you roam the metaverse and most of all its over the top sequences such as ambushing enemies like spider-man and its iconic take on all-out attacks. If either P3 or P4 take a chance at a different concept like how P5 did with the phantom thief aesthetic, the gap between the games would be a lot closer for me.

I disagree, I gave P3R a good chance. I loved the story but it's so barebones. In P5, you have so many different activities, it's like you're actually in Tokyo. I feel like an exchange student in Japan while playing as Joker.

Story and characters I'll concede on about. There were many moments where I felt frustrated with how characters acted. Haru was robbed of her screen time. Akechi was indeed a half baked rat until they solidified it into a rat I heavily respect during the 3rd semester. But when it comes to everything else, P5 is just king. I'm not saying it can't be topped, but rather that it's going to really hard to do so. I rate music much higher than your average gamer(check out my video game music video) and although music taste is subjective, I do think objectively Persona 5 has the best track. And when it comes to presentation, it don't think even p3r stands up to it. A lot of what makes Reload look so good, stems from p5. Because you know, if it works don't fix it. But even with the newer look, p3 doesn't feel as fluid as p5. P5 much more swift, stylish animations look really cool and work really well, because they is phantom thieves are suppose to be swift and stylish. This translates further when exploring palaces. P3R improved the dungeon crawling experience by giving us a change of scenery instead of the same dull tartarus floors. But nothing beats the feeling of stealthing around and then ambushing a shadow like you're Spiderman. Alongside the specialized art style of all out attacks, a masterclass on how to make a menu and UI, and my inner child frothing at the mouth on how cool everything is, Persona 5's look and aesthetic is god-like. I still stand by liking Persona 4 cast more because Narukami Naoto and Kanji hard carry, and I'm already kneeling at getting to play through Akihiko's and Mitsuru's social links, but anything nothing more sick than the P5 cast in their phantom thief attire.

You literally have nothing else to do besides Tartarus and social links? How is that peak XD In P5 , you get to roam around Tokyo, do so many activities and sceneries, you have palaces on top of Mementos. It's such a complete package.

3 is my favorite in the series, but Persona 5 is what broke the series into the mainstream and that just can't be debated, the numbers are online to back it up, and not to mention the countless amount of content and memes about P5 you can find on TH-cam and the internet.

Lol it's not, Persona 5 brought more fans in the persona franchise, I only got to know other Persona games because of P5

Also bit of a weird recommendation but if you love banger soundtracks there is this one roblox game, and I know eww roblox but hear me out it is called Phighting and I seriously recommend it through music alone it's ost is on youtube if you'd like a listen.

There will be a day when I beat Hollow Knight (maybe when silksong comes out lmao). Although I concede that objectively, I do think Hollow Knight is a better game, Ori clicked with me much earlier during its playtime. Bash is just that GOAT'd. And after playing Pizza Tower recently, I've come to realize that I like platformers much more than I thought. As for roblux, nothing wrong with the game itself. I only take issues with the company and people exploiting minors on it.

Understandable I can agree the bash mechanic was very good either way both games are amazing. Have a nice day. Edit: I completely agree how music elevates a game as with nearly any other type of production as music is an integral part of art and the creation of things.
