Chinese diesel heater -30°C Cold Start
มุมมอง 49K2 ปีที่แล้ว
5kw all in one heater starting in -30°C. Impressed at how little smoke before ignition this close to it's -40°C minimum operating temperature. Will only put out about 100-110°C outlet temp running it hard at this ambient temperature. Would definately want to heat recirculation air if using to warm an enclosed area as heating outside air would eat fuel and battery.

    Thanks for sharing as I'm new to Mevotech...this morning I just returned two unopened control arms, tie rod ends and sway bar links after doing more research on Mevotech. My original parts lasted 198k miles so far and are still technically good. I'm only replacing the struts and thought I would be clever while I had everything pulled apart and replace some existing parts with Mevotech, what a joke. Toyota OEM parts are more expensive but last and are worth your time in labor, China suspension parts might last a year or so. Junk.

      It is unfortunate how auto part quality has declined so much. Even the so-called "good" brands can be shitty. I rebuilt the front end of a dodge dakota in summer of 2020. All new moog upper and lower control arms and tie rod ends. Gabriel shocks. All the rubber control arm bushings were cracking within the first year. Shock bushings completely beat by last year.

    Ok, every diesel heater video comment I see mentions to point your exhaust down or water will…blah blah blah! I would really like to see somebody create this event without having a insane length of exhaust pipe. The output at your first bend is WELL over 250F at the lowest setting. I put a double length of piping together and pointed it straight up in 28 F conditionS and had zero water build up after cooldown and exhaust disassembly. Prove me wrong, I would really like to eat my words and gain some knowledge at the same time. Thanks

    • @juliogonzo2718
      @juliogonzo2718 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video I had it pointed up just to test it in the cold. I did see a video where a guy piped it into the exhaust of his van and it plugged up on him, probably due to large surface area of his exhaust pipe slowing down the flow, but you are probably right. The one I have on my pickup both the intake and the exhaust have low spots, not extreme but still lower than the inlet/outlet. I drilled about a 1/16" hole at the low point in both pipes and have not had a problem with them. Runs once a week for about 4 hours at 1.8hz and sometimes short stints at 3.2hz to preheat the cab before I start it.

      I put moog upper and lower control arms and tie rod ends on another vehicle I bought 2 years ago. The joints are good but one of the boots is torn and the rubber bushings are all cracked already. I put brand new Gabriel shocks on then too and the shock bushings have like 1/4" of play in them already. Maybe drove it 10000 miles. Everything is junk anymore it seems

      @@Maplecook I'm in Canada too, maybe that is something regional or I picked it up from someone else who used that as terminology. Maybe I'm a dummy and the only person who says that completely grammatically incorrectly, I dunno 😂 that is right, I used "anymore" in the same way you would say "everything is junk nowadays" interesting, maybe I've said something dumb for a long time. No worse then a buddy who's coworker thought the term "touch base" was actually "touch face" 😂

      @@juliogonzo2718 You're not a dummy, and you're not wrong. As far as I can see, the positive, "anymore," (meaning, "nowadays,") is simply a rare dialectical usage. For most Anglophones, anymore can only be used in the negative, but for SOME, there are cases of positive usage. Most of those speakers are in the USA. I am really surprised to find a Canadian who talks that way, but hey, there are a lot of neighbourhoods out there, eh? haha What part of Canada are you in? And, do others in your area say, "anymore," to mean, "nowadays," too? Just curious, because I teach languages for a living.

      @@Maplecook I've never noticed if others say it. I lived in Brantford Ontario for a lot of my life, perhaps it's proximity to upstate New York had an influence, I'm now in the north west of the province. Southern Ontario has some regional pronunciation quirks. Two things that come to mind were Dalhousie Street in Brantford was pronounced locally as "dah-lou-zie," town of Delhi was pronounced "Del-high." One time a truck driver from the Maritimes told me "the leading cause of ruination of tires is underinflation." I thought ruination was a made up east coast word but it is proper English. I had never heard it before. Accents and regional dialects are interesting to me too, I'm not really knowledgeable about them. Next time I talk to a buddy back home if i remember I'll ask if the "anymore" phrase sounds normal

    Exhaust needs to be point downwards or the moisture in the bottom bend will eventually block the exhaust and throw a code

      @davem5333 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as long as the exhaust gas temperature is hot enough. Notice that the water vapor from combustion is moving up and out of the exhaust pretty well. But pointing it down wouldn't hurt.

    Seems like there is a variant of these. I have the same looking one but my pump sound is barely noticeable. Only thing that bothers me is the tank cap, doesn’t seal good and leaks as the fuel slashes from one side to the other while im driving. Tried to add a gasket, reduced it a bit. still need to find a way

    • @juliogonzo2718
      @juliogonzo2718 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the shitty camera i was using made it sound louder than it actually is but its still loud as the pump is mounted to the steel case. The rubber hanger thing would have been rock hard too at -30. I have one of the physically smaller 2kw models in the cab of my pickup. It came with one of the larger tanks that is vertically oriented. You could use one of those and fill it to 3/4 and it really can't slosh bad enough to leak out of the cap. Mine is mounted in the bed and the pump is on the frame so it is very quiet. You can hear it ticking outside the truck but I can barely hear it in the cab. I do have a cap on the bed so the tank can't get water in it
