    This tutorial is not exactly correct. relativeSizes parameter does not define what set of parameters will define layes (first layer, final layer thickness as well as expansion ratio can be set independently). It defines whethet or not the measures are taken relative to the size of adjacent cell or in absolute values (meters). The second mistake is that the size of the layers are not computed by dividing on the factors, but multiplying with them: the final layer will not be as twice as small as the adjcent cell, but actually two times bigger!

    I'm wondering if you have an example of how to set up an axisymmetrical case of chtMultiRegionFoam? I want to try to simulate the cool-down time of an insulated pipe in water. The insulation is a little complex, so it's not just a simple 'layer thickness'. I am able to share with you what I have done, but I am having lots of trouble getting the dictionaries set-up and perhaps the 'changeDictDict' approach is actually what I need to assist.

    Hello, thanks for the video I have a conjugate heat transfer problem, few electronic components being cooled directly by a fluid (immersion method of cooling) and i am using OpenFoam for this. I am using toposet to identify different solid components inside the background mesh. Since some of the components are very thin (like a solder layer 0.1mm thick), i have to use a blockmesh with very high number of elements in each of the three axis. If the background mesh is not fine enough, toposet is unable to extract these thin solid components. I have to play with the backgroud blockmesh so as the toposet identifies all the solid cellZones successfully. Of course i can use snappy, but i do not think so i can get the same quality hexa mesh as given by blockMesh. Any idea how to make sure that toposet identifies a particular cellZone successfully without using hit and trial with background blockMesh? thanks

  • @bhootmehra
    @bhootmehra 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, is it possible for the CellZones identified by toposet to be refined etc means enhance the meshing of that particular cellZone ? thanks

  • @xiangjiewang1820
    @xiangjiewang1820 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a suggestion, the '&' should not be put at the end of each line because that means all the commands are running almost simultaneously. for some complicated simulation, even the blockMesh would take several minutes so the second step would not wait for it finishing.

  • @xiangjiewang1820

      to specify the box, you provide min and max values for x y and z. The openfoam wiki has a general formula, and the multifoam dam break case has a good example. If you'd like to see it in action, you can look at Joszef Nagy's multifoam tutorial Part One. Good luck!

    • @TheAurora1993
      @TheAurora1993 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaa70 Okay, I'm just learning about OpenFoam, but I have learned that OF only works with 3D objects, and if you want to mesh a 2D object I think you have to declare surfaces as "empty" in blockMesh or something like this. I think the best thing you can do it's open the object in paraView and see the axis. You probably have X and Y, so yes, the Z-axis direction should have 1 cell thickness. ¡Buena suerte!
