Today you are joining me at the prolific Lake John near Waltham abbey, famed for its population of big carp. You’re joining me on the bank where I’m armed with just a margin pole loaded with light elastics, to tackle “anything that swims “hoping to latch on to some of its very large inhabitants , proving that you don’t always need heavy tackle to put big fish on the bank .

This week you join me back on the Grand Union canal , where I make a long walk past the cables at Grove church ,above the lock , an area I haven’t fished for over 20 YEARS ! ..although the big features are all still there , it looks completely different .. sometimes plans just don’t go to plan ! Fishery Manger Trevor Price set me a challenge to catch as many bream as possible, using a cage feeder on the specimen carp lake “OAK”. it’s full of carp , yet its home to some good bream .
