Gaming Backlog Tips For 2025
So this will be my last video for the year, and a very good year it has been for me. I'm going to take a break at this stage and then return in 25. But before I go, I thought I'd provide some tips for those that wanna start grinding through their backlog of games that have undoubtedly been piling up for some time. My methods may or may not work for you, but hopefully you can still extract some insight from my own personal tips anyways.
In any event, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
Chapters:
Final Destination - 0:00
Introduction - 0:38
Tip 1 - 6:26
Tip 2 - 10:49
Tip 3 - 12:28
Tip 4 - 15:34
Conclusion - 19:35
Quick Tips - 19:48
Thank You All - 22:04
Notes:
- Mosa Lina is a brutal game.
- I've learned how to rig models, so it's only going to get worse from here.
- Roguelikes and Sandbox/Strategy/Sim games I treat as a first impression experience. If it ends up being good, then I'll put it aside to play later, and I do the opposite if I don't enjoy the game at all.
- While you can do shortest to longest, you still need to monitor your mood first. You may in fact want to play something like Cyberpunk or The Witcher 3. So if you really feel like playing them, then do it. Do not stress about the hours required to beat a game.
- For RPGs, try the roleplaying method. Think more about the things you actually want to in the game, rather than trying to follow the storylines.
- You can also set trends or self-imposed phases. For example, you're going through a pirate phase, so try looking for pirate based games in your backlog.

Nation Red is 2000s Arcade Horde Fun
มุมมอง 96514 วันที่ผ่านมา
I'm still around, it's only been a few days. But I'm also winding down a bit since the year is ending. However, I wanted to talk about Nation Red, a game that I'm not really in love with, but had rekindled my love for 2000s zombie games. Nation Red itself can be a fun time, and even more so if you have someone to play with. But it's still somewhat limited in what it offers in content, and it do...
Brazilian Drug Dealer 3: Cruelty Squad Meets Quake in Brazil
มุมมอง 1.7K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
One of the most polarizing but fun boomer shooter projects I've seen in a long while. It's a Brazilian game based on the Quake Engine, taking you into a warped world of Brazil, filled with spontaneity, jankiness, and quake fashioned boomer shooting. It's also reflective of an era where people would make up random shit for mods during the 2000s, regardless if it made sense or not. It was also a ...

Finding Value in "Bad Games"
มุมมอง 1.2K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video is from a certain point of view, a continuation of what I talked about in my last video about the blind exploration of games. But this video is more focused on the discovery of "bad games", the worst games so to speak, and how even they have value or imposed value from other players. Unironically enjoying a game that's considered bad isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as the play...
How Knowing Less Made Me Enjoy Gaming More

So this is a video about my personal experience about expectations, and realizing that going in with too many expectations and hopes can be a detriment to my possible enjoyment of something, especially when it's a game with high regard. Freedoom: The FOSS Version of Doom

So this isn't really a review of Freedoom, but a video about why I think it still matters even though we have countless mods available for Doom 1 and 2. The project was envisioned to be a free and open source alternative for those that not only couldn't afford the games, but to also create a product that was independent and accessible to everyone, and could be modified and updated at any time. ...
FPS on the NES

One of the most unique Homebrew projects I've seen for the NES. But not one that I enjoyed very much, and yet I still wanted to talk about it because I do appreciate it for its technical achievements. This game really does push the limits of the NES, and shows the power of Homebrewing in the gaming world. Notes: - The movie in the intro is Hostel. - There were wads in At Hells Gate, that showed...

BioCrisis is House of the Dead on Atari
มุมมอง 428หลายเดือนก่อน
BioCrisis, developed by Jim is a short and sweet on-rails shooter inspired by the Atari PC era in the 80s, as well as other games like The House of the Dead, has some great pixel art, controls are simple and shooting feels pretty good. A sequel is being made and looks to be a more realized version and I'm pretty keen for it even in spite of the issues I had with the demo. Give the first game a ...
The Typing of the Dead and It's Educational Value

The original Typing of the Dead is not only fun, but also a great education resource for those that wanna improve on their typing. It wasn't perfect, and can be really challenging at times, but it was still something unique and it stood out from other titles back in 1999 and 2000. My Thoughts on Writing

It's not the most polished video I've made, but I wanted to show a rougher, but simpler...
Blood Typers is Resident Evil as a Typing Game

Replayed it last year and it's still great, however I might have lost skill cause the game felt freaking hard. I had to turn de difficulty down to easy for stage 4 and 5 💀
I'm planning to make half life 1 on this Engine
@@Mixran That would be sick, I'd check that out.
Technically you are always sprinting by default in Quake 4 but well turn it off & you move as fast as you do when encumbered in Skyrim or Fallout. Not very fun. I only know this as its set to the button you'd think would make you move faster but instead it made me move like a snail. I wish they'd made you run but use stamina & then remove the stamina when you became a strogg.
The fact that this works at all, let alone fitting in 40K, at 60FPS, and not even written in assembly, might be one of the greatest technical achievements of the century. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I'm looking at! The visuals are confusing and painful. Also the text at the beginning advances way too fast.
In fairness, there's a bunch of assembly involved. CC65 does some silly things that should be trivial... and C in general is bad at detecting overflow. The latest version runs at least twice as well as the one shown in this video. (And is best viewed through a CRT filter, from a distance, with your glasses off.)
I tried screwing around with FPSC; was gonna make a game where the premise is you defending yourself from lowlifes in bad parts of a post Soviet town. Even wrote a design document. However, I dropped the idea due to technical difficulties with my then computer.
it looks too cozy and washed out. and feels washed out. nah, i wish dirt 2 just to have more content. that was a pure art of rally
I was fortunate to find this game NEW for PC on Amazon. Now, I can play the game again reliving the rage moments when I was a kid. MC 2 was my first video game I ever bought. It was $49.99 for this game when it came out. I still remember as it was yesterday. crazy times. Playable on Windows 11. All you have to do is enable DirectPlay
Used to play alot on the Hell on earth starter pack server a few years back, so much fun was had, sadly these days ppl only play vanilla or doom wads that are so modified it doesn't even look like doom anymore.
Chat Gpt brought me here 😂
AVP and carrion was great I really hope more games become like this
happy birthday!! wish you the best
This item is currently unavailable in your region (im from Germany)
I'll make a game like this soon
Ive been playing games for so long the logicall conclusion was to make them. holy crap thats literaly me right now. and never would i have tought back in higschool even when offered id ever be an indie dev. crazy but your statment just makes to much sense.
Why are you comparing it to old games lmao... The new standard is Dirt Rally 2.0 when it comes to rally racing games. I played Art of Rally and Absolute Drift a lot and I like them BUT AoR is literally a downgrade from DR2.0 in every way. Unless you are on a shitty laptop there is no reason for anyone to launch up AoR instead of DR2
I never had a flawless experience with game engines. I tried Unity, Unreal, Godot, Gamemaker and so on. Unity had so many render problems, Unreal was just not for 2D imo (and I want to code and don't want to connect boxes with arrows lol) and Godot's gdscript felt useless to learn because it was kinda like Python but also not really and who came to the idea to code a game engine in c++ and add Python on top didn't they learn from Minecraft its not a good idea to use high level coding languages for games... And with all the drama around game engines I make my own. I don't want a Wokegot or a new CEO from Unity turning my game into a debt printer again. Im done with it...

have you tried opposite lock rally? its basically a top down pixel rally game, and the difficulty ramps up in stages, its kinda hard to get down but once you do get it down your straight SPEEDING through opponents you should give it a go sometime
@Arobloxian-k4z Never heard of it. Will check it out in my spare time.
This is such great advice, and I definitely should take the time to organize my lists. Unfortunately, I'll still have to finish every game because I have an OCD, but the order in which I finish them should be more fun.
@@anon_y_mousse As long as you're enjoying them, they're worth finishing.
Funny how I was wanting to organize my steam library since last week, this video gave the push to do it lol I realised how many free games I ended up getting just cause it's free and bloating my library with random stuff
Love seeing the blender musings progress. Merry christmas & a happy new year to you too
Played this game a ton in the early 2010s
Hey mate I am looking for Uranus music from Passing Uranus custom map. Do you have it?
In my most humble opinion, Nioh is just harder than a souls game. Those bosses are ridiculously hard!!!
@@envinvix9069 Team Ninja games are pretty brutal in general.
i have been seeing this game around and its got amazing feedback. I wanted to know if its playable on mouse and keyboard or you kind of really need a driving set up
I used a controller in my playthrough. You should be able to use a wheel for the game. But if you're looking for close to real, Dirt Rally would be a better alternative.
@@SackoYT i am more interested in knowing if i can play on mouse and keyboard as i dont have a wheel
@taiyowest9495 You should be able to.
That's cool but it would give me a migraine after playing it
hey bro i know you doing your swag thing but how about playing dominions 6 for 100 hours? i reccomend it also good video and game like this for me is blood and bacon, gg have fun,
@14pat78 Well I do wanna revisit the Strategy genre at some point, so I'll have a look at Dominions in my spare time. Blood and Bacon is excellent.
This is one of my most anticipated games of next year. Hopefully the full game has more enemy variety than the demo(I 2nd the notion that their animations were quite stiff). I also love how the foot appears to be a jpeg and the guy is barefoot from the beginning.
Literally half of these games aren't even released yet, what's the point of posting a video like this if you cannot accurately state if it's anywhere near the games you want to compare it to?
5:38 how did you get this menu?
6:12 yeah that's why you can't enjoy because you didn't commit to it battlemode is as hard as it is enjoyable
@@filip2210 I just don't care for it.

rally house is just house phonk but it’s basically its own genre atp
@prod.yvmu1 Sure, but the rally aesthetic gives it a distinction of its own. It's like with drift phonk, where drifting is the main mood and theme behind the genre.
@ yes but no. drift phonk is a sub genre of phonk which is a subgenre/spinoff of 90s underground memphis horror core. same thing with rally house. it’s just house phonk but with rally racing associated with it
Im sorry bro but none of us wanna play 2d games. Lmao. I want real stalker like games. 3rd or first person.
The tiles could definitely be less "detailed" for a lack of a better word. they could make it more NES-ish instead of trying to emulate textures.
not sure why they don't make the graphics clearer. A number of years back over a few weeks just for a lark, I coded a petscii 3d polygon renderer for c64 which I think it looks quite clean for 3d, even though is just 40 by 25 character graphics. I wrote a maybe 200% faster raycasting version on paper but lost the will to continue lol. Maybe some one will be inspired to give c64 a real petscii fps: th-cam.com/video/Aj8INbkCI88/w-d-xo.html
Have always been fascinated with the pc98, but I've never stumbled upon a video going over its history before. Thanks!
Honestly, over the years it's gone from AAA being premium games and Indie being almost non-existent to AAA being samey but guaranteed quality and Indie being new and interesting each time you play a new game, but sometimes lacking quaity. The issue is, in recent years it's gone downhill, AAA games are now mainly (but not always) cliche, generic and appealing to the largest amount of people, while sacrificing uniqueness and fun while Indie's have transitioned into AA and the indie space is shrinking. There are still some, but not nearly as many small, unique games coming out, but we do now have AAA scale at above Indie quality or Indie scale at AAA quality, which gives us AA (at least in my opinion).
@lidge1994 I think at this point, it's getting harder to define the term indie. It's so saturated that the lines are blurring.
The goat ❤❤
another brazilian indie game is unsighted, very happy to see my country really get into game making
