In this mod I'm trying to keep a reasonable amount of blood effects, to be more close to a vanilla Hexen. But with a little flavor with progressing wounds until death. The shader I showed up earlier is working perfectly fine.

Doomsday engine can pass the health state of the monsters to the shader. And I can use that to show the level of damage until the death to the monster's visuals. This is a prototype I made in Unity.

For ELV Project: Hexen. I'm updating an almost 10-year-old model. A lot happened since we decided on a new model format for the Doomsday engine with Skyjake, KuriKai, and TeaMonster. It was a trial-and-error path with long hiatus periods. I changed 2 countries to live in and had a lot of projects to work on. Now I'm ready to apply my experience on Diablo IV to make good-looking deaths.

Might I suggest a few more frames of animation for the frost shard attack? It looks like it's just interpolating between two frames, resting and firing. And the smoothness of the animation has less of an oompth feeling compared to the original, especially when it's supposed to be Hexen's equivalent of Doom 2's supershotty.
The animation is following original game spite states and timings. I can’t add or remove anything without changing the game mechanics.
@@veirdome A less linear animation in between states could be used.

In my completely honest opinion I think the game looks its best when it’s in pixel graphics. seeing it in 3-D is very jarring especially at 60 FPS but it looks pretty I would like to see the game with higher and graphics everywhere in the environment but still maintain sharp flat 2D models but at 60 fps gameplay to maintain its original feel but feel modern at the same time. honestly if I could have all of those then all I need is multiplayer so I can play the whole game like that with a close friend that would be the life

@@veirdome Cool. This would be as close to a remake of Hexen that i would trust anyone to do without ruining Hexen :) Shame Heretic does not get a lot of attention though, it aint Hexen but was pretty cool in it's own right.

@@veirdome I dont think you ever released that though, did you? Heretic's gauntlets, lol, now there is something that could really do with a redo. They are rather weird, they do make you laugh though
CGFX shader for Maya filedn.com/llnKciHa4tkbyeQtz8QoRlj/ELV/DoomsdayBloodGeneric_public.cgfx This shader utilizes unused emissive.a channel for a blood mask. The blood color interpolates between A and B colors using this mask.

Great stuff.
Clearly the scary looking old hands of an avid smoker with very poor blood circulation...who is also a mage. But he's gonna need some quartz flasks on him at all times just because of that ailment alone just to stave off the impending heart attack. Excellent work, very close to how imagined those grippers of his in 3D.

You’re right, because it’s just a model replacement over an old game mechanics. Olgood bob is still with us.
Looks like we're working on a remake in parallel lines. Each of us develops such a Hexen upgrade, and we do it for Doomsday. The only two such creators in the world. You put your faith in 3D, while i embrace pixelart. You adhere to the vanilla, while i move as far from its logic as possible. I aim to fix the mistakes, you imply there are none. It's definitely interesting to see what the future will bring when these projects are completed. Let's hope Doomsday doesn't screw either of us. 🤝

Normally I'm the last guy who would be into 3D assets being put into classic sprite-based shooters, but these look amazing! Will definitely have to check this out 🤘
The gore and blood effects are essential to that classing gaming experience, but I'll handle that.
