Yes but I’m pretty sure there are ways to make it work without raytracing
thanks for the tutorial this is just what i was looking for. but i have a quick question. i recently released my own map to the workshop and now i made some changes to it so i was just wondering how i can release the updated version of the map?
Same thing but instead of uploading a “new” map you “edit” the addon and update the file
Is doing your layout like this still efficient? I used hammer 1 a LOT and I wasn’t sure whether to learn the new workspace layout as it may be more efficient
Yeah whatever makes your process faster is what you should use, hence why the traditional layout is more efficient for most.
@@CSJxlp the more I’m looking into this, arent using inverted meshes a lot better for optimisation?

Thanks for all Videos man. Can you make a Video about Cubemaps? Do you happen to know how to fix the shadow issues with skins? Glossy stickers are displayed almost black and the colors of the skins are also wrong or not as lit as usual. I tried with env_combined Cubemap and Light Probe Volume, but it doesn't really work

I have a gtx gpu so i cant use full compile, i need to use fast
I added it to workshop, confirmed it, but I cant boot the map up from the workshop menu. I keep getting the "map is not found on the client" whenever i attempt to run the map. What do I need to do to run it like any other workshop map I install? heck if you want to test it i might make it public for the hell of it, so look up De_mono and see if you can actaully run it

Need a Raytracing
I know its been quite a while, but i think a (if not too complicated) optimization guide would go a long way. I struggle with optimization so much its not even funny anymore. 800mb, 600mb. I guess there just comes a time where VIS opt and nodraw textures are not saving my ass anymore, and i have no clue on what to do anymore
Id have to learn more about how optimization for source 2 works before I make a video but I definitely can

Might be an issue with the file location of the addon folder or the map file.,

The means the player spawn entities are invalid maybe they are touching a brush

hey brother, don't know if you'll see this, but i'm having trouble getting the map to load once i hit build. the first time (probably 4-5 months ago) i just hit build and i had the map working perfectly, but now once i hit build, the map compiles through and nothing loads. i followed ur tutorial step by step, i even tried loading one of the template files to see if maybe something i was doing was just wrong unfortunately nothing. i can't seem to get the map to open onto the cs2 application that opens with the workshop tools, nor can i find it attempting to search through both the in-game, and the workshop console. i might just not know the command tbh i was 100% just keyword searching and attempting to let the console autofill do the rest lmao. any info u can drop me would be a lifesaver. +1 👍

@@CSJxlp i've got a nvidia geforce rtx 3050 ti laptop gpu and a 12th gen intel i7-12650h
not entirely sure dude, it could just be as simple as little setting adjustment thing in the workshop tools idk. seeing as how its across 2 different gpus leaves me even more confused. reddit was empty of answers and the s2 discord server was stumped as well with their programs seeming to work for running maps and compiling. i'm also marginally new to the cs2 map editor with like around 1000ish hours in the original global offensive editor, and all of the tutorials i've followed have made complete sense until the final step of compiling. not entirely sure.
@Andrewlol try compiling with no lighting to see if that works, uncheck the lighting box in the compile window
Could you do a turtial on using external objects not made in hammer 2 has a map surface? I love using tenchbroom for how quick it is to make geometry.
Youd have to import it as a model and use it as a prop in the level
