Is 60/40 okay for soldering wire? Or does it need to be specifically 63/37?
Should work perfectly fine.
@@videogameexpert41 awesome thank you!
Not sure if you’ll see this but I’ll hope for the best, Could you make videos on how to hook up: 1.Ps1 2.Sega Genesis 16-bit 3.Sega Dreamcast: Sports-edition Recently while clearing out my step dads garage to move in we came across him and his siblings old consoles (and we even think we might have a Nintendo 64 and NES System hidden away somewhere cause we found games, controllers, and cables) we’ve been able to bond over our love of vintage games and this video has helped us fix the PS1’s we found. I hope to clean all the consoles up and see if they still work soon and I thought you deserved a much larger audience and views on your videos so I just wanted to write my thanks to you down here for helping us out. The video was super helpful and simple to follow that we were able to fix them both in less than 15 minutes. Again just wanted to say thank you a bunch for the video and I hope you keep making them and helping more people enjoy vintage gaming for years to come.
Thank you so much! I will be making videos on those systems in the coming weeks!
could you point me to the proper link to buy the power supply?

386 subs? Lemme change that to a 387
My hero!
Where did you get the special Nintendo bit? And what's the measurement?
The Nintendo bit is included in the ifixit kit that is linked in the description.
@@videogameexpert41 Thank you!
@@danielrr1833 anytime!
This was a great how to video, probably the best. But you need to a better job with your link to the replacement drive belts. Not all drives take the same drive belt. At least tell people that they need to do the research and find out what type of drive they have .
Thank you for the constructive criticism! I will make sure to update the links as well as keep that in mind in all my future videos.
But.. my motor is spinning the wrong direction its spinning the direction to take in the disk. Not put it out. And it constant
Your system sounds like there may be a leaked capacitor on the motherboard telling it to constantly open up.
Thank you worked perfectly 👍🏽
Glad it helped!
Nice guide, thanks. Is the bumpy side always the negative? and the positive the one with the writing on the battery?
In my experience that has always been the case. The positive almost always has a plus sign somewhere on it.
My Air Force buddy got it for me when we were stationed in Florida in 2002, and I still have it. Just the game and box.
That’s awesome! Thank you for your service.
Ty for the video boss.
Thank you!
Thanks your video really helped me and saved me money from buying a spare ps1 for parts it works great now😅
Glad to have been able to help!
it's gonna be probably a dumb question but what's the reason for removing the soldering ball in a new laser?
The solder is touching three different contacts which shorts the laser. Until you remove the solder and separate the contacts the laser will not operateZ
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I bought a PS1 for like $60 at a vintage fest and it had this same issue. I did what you did and it works now
Glad to have helped!
About to try soldering for the first time to replace my Pokemon Gold battery! Any last minute tips for a beginner?
Let the soldering iron heat all the way before using. Use a wide tip if you have one. Don’t keep it on the pads for too long. Use more flux if you’re having a hard time getting it to melt. Make sure the battery is lined up with + and - You got this!
So I have a question so I want to play a game and all I have been able to get is it says reading disc how long should it take and is that really true for the game disc to take a long time to read
Sounds like the laser needs to be replaced. It should read the disc before it gets to the main menu.
@@videogameexpert41 ok so clean the laser or get a new one
@@videogameexpert41 because I got a new game tmnt mutant Meelee and it says pal what does that mean and wher can I find the game tmnt mutant meele for the ps2 that is in the usa
@@thecrtggamingchannel1727 you can definitely trying cleaning the lens first. Just be very careful and make sure you don’t push down too hard or scratch it at all.
@thecrtggamingchannel1727 PAL means it will only play on a European console.
Can I just use dish soap and water to get most of the dirt out instead of isopropyl alcohol
Absolutely
Thank you
Of course! Glad I could be of help. Thank you for subscribing :)
Great video bro, i didn't know hyperkin made and hdmi converter. Def will have to check it out now.
They have 3 different tiers I believe. This was their Gold/top choice.
Already did clean it still sounds like a jet engine
With new thermal paste and it’s still loud?
Did this didn't work
Then you more than likely need a new spring.
I thought that u had to replace the button lol😂

Also skeptical but really glad I watched (as my issue seemed to be different and more to do with the spring) - however, I followed this and now the button is working fine! Big thanks
Thanks a lot lad, it solved my problem!!!
I was skeptical because my unit was pretty new and not dirty, but I followed the instructions and it worked! The button was totally stuck and now it works great!
Love the closeup shots, so we can really see what we're looking at. I've seen way too many videos that do not show these intricate details. Great video and voice over while detailing instructions!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I hope the video helped :)
@videogameexpert41 it absolutely did. I was hung up on a few parts, but your video helped me finish my restoration up! Just tested it, and it's working! Disk tray and everything. I took the old rubber band off and boiled it for 2 minutes. Rubber band shrunk and rounded back out like new.
Thanks
No problem! Hopefully you got them back up and running again.
Always so soothing to watch videos like this where they disassemble electronics. Also, a guide on how to fix things would be cool, too. Great vid man.
I do plan on making a tutorial cleaning video so keep your eyes out!
Very informative, though i didnt have any solder braid i still managed to do it without making a mess
Glad the video helped! You don’t even have to replace the solder it’s just always a good idea to do so.
Thank you so much for this. I can sell my ps1 now.
Ahhh yeeeaahhhh
Which type of your socket replacement?.
???
@@videogameexpert41 there is many type chrging socket for ds4 such as : jds 011 ,jds 030 etc..which one

What a gorgeous background ambient track.
Such a thorough tutorial 👏 I would like applaud the additional descriptions you made about whether you should feel resistance etc, at different stages. I wish more tutorials where as helpful as this!
Thank you!
I want use CRT-monitor's :D
I clicked on the video with the intent to post a mocking comment but as the video loaded I remember having to set up the NES for my mom and such growing up 🤣🤣
I work at a retro game store and constantly have people who can’t figure it out (mostly older parents) I figured I could make these “hook up” videos and just direct them to the video if they have issues lol
Well explained thank you. I have several xbox controllers that don't work Would love too see you repair one of those.
What all is wrong with them? Unresponsive buttons, stick drift?
No function, some with buttons not working, couple with slow or non functioning toggles.
@MrDeancoote I’ll be on the lookout for some controllers that need repair! Stay tuned.
Looking forward too seeing your repairs
Hi, thanks taking the time to put this together. Nice job and presentation. I followed the steps but I didn't do something correctly. When I tried to test, and powered on, the lense didn't stop moving up on the control bar. It's like the bracket on the right of the lenses isn't connected properly to the control bar or the lenses doesn't detect when it's needs to move back. Not sure if you have experienced something like that before.
That sounds like it could be an issue with the ribbon cable that’s connected to the laser.
Thanks@@videogameexpert41 I will re-check.
i think I found the issue@@videogameexpert41 . I didn't have the laser seated properly on the left side.
Wow way easier disassembly than modern consoles.
Sooooo much easier lol
this console was very popular in Russia. its so nostalgic, especially this grey fat version. There were game clubs where we could play it for money. My favourite games are fighting force, vigilante 8, syphon filter and meda of honor. How about other countries? Was it so popular either?
Hell yeah it’s popular here in the United States of America, I’ve had mine since ‘99
@@Josephhhhh2077 wow☺️sorry do you mean you play since 99? And still you do
@@АйдарСафин-щ5ь yeah, I mean that I had my PlayStation 1 since 1999, I also had my ps2 since 2002
are you an asmrtist? because you are sooooo soothing!
Yes, i've got the same problem on my 5502
Shit thanks for the tip about bugs my man. I' would never have thought about that being a safe place for them amidst my cleaning crusades.
Good video, my Xbox has the same issue, this video will help to fix it, but one question, why at the end, stills blinking green and orange? Mine does that but isn’t fixed it. That is already fixed, shouldn’t do that.
The light will blink green and orange if the AV cables are not plugged in.
