Victoria the brilliant 👏🏾 👏🏾 And the crew absolutely hillarious 😂😂😂 Julie Walters and Celia😂😂😂😂
"She'll get us out of it..... improvise"
Mrs O wow
Classic Victoria Wood Sadly missed 😢
The David Hunter impersonation was spot on 😂😂😂
Absolutely loved this show 😂.its fab too go back and enjoy again 😁
Julie Walter’s varicose veins 😂😂😂
Pure gold. ❤❤😆😆🤟🤟🤟👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎬📽
If only they knew that the Spaniard was the Sun Hill Police Superintendent very undercover. 😮
Susie Blake - greatly underrated
At one point you can see a man's arm pulling the background scenery to make it wobble and I've no idea if it was on purpose.
Omibus edition? Why not try an omnibus edition as well?
Timeless like all Victoria Wood’s work. Love it love it love it. Still laughing my head off. Thank you VW
'Twas it muesli? 😅
A great talented lady. I so miss her style and wit
Genius!!
I well remember watching "Crossroads"....complete with wobbly scenery, fluffed lines & missed 'eyelines'. Benny Hill did much the same thing with "The New Avengers"... ...the mis-matched stunt doubles was hilarious!
A lovely send up of soap operas.
I recognise Peter Ellis who played Chief Superintendent Brownlow in TheBill.
At 6:17 this was a real outtake, both Celia and Victoria always found it hard not to laugh when Julie came on as Mrs Overall. So they decided to keep this one in and use it.
Celia trying hard not to laugh as Duncan was kissing her at 4:05
I will chuckle every time I add muesli to my shredded wheat. .
Fab fab fab ❤😂😂
7:19 THE most funniest scene in any comedy show..ever. Just sublime ❤
I always love the snarky continuity announcer.
A bit of Victoria Wood trivia for those who may not know: Acorn Antiques was based on a number of very bad TV and radio shows that Victoria Wood had listened to / watched when younger. "Crossroads" being the most famous one, but also a radio soap called 'Waggoner's Walk' (Victoria Wood based a lot of the dialogue on that - she said it was written and performed like "all of the lines were in capital letters"). There was also another inspiration from a 1970s TV show called 'The Cedar Tree' in which one the main characters would regularly forget her lines and instead of editing it out, the other cast members would have to try and pretend it didn't happen and improvise their way out of it. The 'Making of' at the end of this video was based not only on the infamous sacking of Noele Gordon from Crossroads, but also on a documentary in the 80s showing the behind the scenes goings on of EastEnders. Victoria Wood based Marion Clune on Julia Smith, who was then the producer of Eastenders. Apparently she didn't like the comparison, but the then cast of EastEnders thought it was hilarious.
I remember The Cedar Tree - if only for the picture of a cedar tree in the title screen and recognising it as one of the trees in a nearby park. It was the sort of midday staple drama that sat between the lunchtime news, racing from Haydock and children's programmes starting at 1500. The other one was Crown Court. All very boring if you were off sick from school. Enough to drive you back to the following day.
@@TheCaptScarlettHaha, I loved Crown Court, and my mum loved the Cedar Tree!!
Waggoners walk of R2
Classic comedy.
The genius of Victoria wood ❤
Haha, watching them all back to back like this, I actually began to forget it was a satire and got into the storylines as I would with any real soap.
😂😂😂love British comedy 💙
I sat next to Celia Imre on the Tube once. :-)
"Hello? I thought you'd committed suicide...?" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
34:38 Chief Superintendent Brownlow goes from instilling discipline to his police station to smashing his face into a camera 🤣🤣🤣
Hadn't seen your comment, I just had to Google who it was, it was driving me mad!
😅🤣😂
The set is fab - the unnecessary steps, that absurd ballustrade, the jutting out props. It’s so cluttered and AmDram, just like the acting, script, camera work. A *brilliant* send up.
It was based on a number of very bad tv and radio shows that Victoria Wood had listened to / watched when younger. "Crossroads" being the most famous one, but also a radio soap called 'Waggoner's Walk' (Victoria Wood based a lot of the dialogue on that - she said it was written like all of the dialogue was in upper case). @@zeddeka I knew about the clear Crossroads parallels but had never heard of the others you mentioned. Thanks - I’ll look them up 🙂
I love how Duncan Preston imitates Ronald Allen’s vocal style when speaking.
Julie Walters is a genius
Love the pauses, such a great parody of TV blunders
I remember saying to my mum and my family. On Christmas Day 2014. While my mum was helping with setting the table for Christmas. Here comes in mrs. Overall. As our mum was struggling to walk. Our mum was was walking just like Mrs. Overall. We all laughed including our dear mum. Sadly none of us knew our mum was suffering from cancer, and was in a lot of pain. Sadly our mum only a few weeks later. Even though it hit us. That is a Christmas I will never forget. As for I made our mum laugh with her loving family during our mum's very last Christmas day.
44:52 Why is Babs reminding of Hugh Laurie in that episode from Blackadder Goes Forth?
For a fleeting second, yes I see it too.
Gorgeous Georgina
See the Spaniard was the Super in The Bill
Manchesterford.
suzy blake drop dead gorgeous as ever
Just jokes about buns and all of Alan Bennet's old scripts 😴😴
Alan Bennetts scripts are used as anaesthetics by hospitals up and down the country. He wished he could write anything as amusing. 😊
Wow..How edgy.
Feel free… multo libre
Love it, and much better acting than you'll find in Coronation street.
"Oh it's nothing. It doesn't matter." That line is repeated a few times in one episode. The funny thing is, it's a line that's often used on TV or in a film. I've only noticed it because of Acorn Antiques. 🤣
Comedic writing and acting genius, never to be repeated..
I love the couple who are in the background pretending to look at antiques!
Been to an Antique shop in Anglesey or brick or bracket. Change signs alternate weeks. Evergo to charity shops ?. They are lovely humans. How much is that ?. Dave
Where on Anglesey?
Who watches. Dinner ladies.?
