The mentality will be different this year. Personal accolades won't matter - the TEAM wants to win something! Not only that, you are underplaying how much better the roster is this year. Up front, Pacioretty will easily be a bigger contributor than Bertuzzi if he's healthy, McMann and Knies are coming into their own as a legit power forwards with a year under their belt, Robertson HAS to play well to get paid, and overall our bottom 6 depth has NEVER been better. Goaltending and D will clearly be better so not much point going in depth on that. This team has a good chance finishing top of the division AND conference. As good as the Rags or Panthers imo. I also think they are going to go deeper this year than the herd expects. Everyone is used to being disappointed, they dont see the opportunity yet.

They have massively upgraded their blue line that’s the difference. If the leafs can spend less time in their own end and more on the offensive side. I also believe the goalie situation is better.

Berube could have a similar impact to what Rick Tocchet had in Vancouver last year. Get some systems in, make sure everyone is playing hard, and if he has to bench highly paid players, that's what he's going to do. Everyone has to buy in, not just in the regular season but in the playoffs. Every team is a choker until they're not. Mario took 7 years in Pittsburgh to win a Cup. Yzerman took 14 years.
