@@lucascheng6674 you have to step further across the board. Mainly just so that you don’t miss the strap cos of how wide it is. Try with different spots and you should find one that works for you

The youth board is much less powerful. The senior board is also a lot more stable and easier to gybe and tack once you get your head around how wide it is.

Haha! That’s so good! Yeah normally I would use the +1 in those conditions but I had no clue how the board would be so I went with the trusty +0.5 for safety. I went with the +1 today though.

@@IvanWindsurfing im pretty sure senior sails are gonna decrease to 8 meter for men and. 7.3 for women

Once I stopped missing the footstrap because of how wide the thing is i found it much liftier and easier to gybe.

@@tristan_krn Nice! It's a great learning experience. I'm not switching to the 9m as I'm not that heavy (and the 8m is quicker due to less drag) and don't want to do the full senior training campaign mission. I'm just in it for fun now, so I'm choosing to do what I think will work best for me.

Thanks for watching! I think both years had very similar winds although I think it actually may have been a tad windier on the windiest day. However, silver fleet did lose a day of racing to light winds this year so on average it's probably around the same.

I think this race was probably around 15 nautical miles or so. Average speed upwind would have been around 18-20 knots and downwind around 24-26 knots

Hi there, this is actually a very old reel from when I didn’t have long harness lines and had nowhere near as much experience as I do now. This would however have been fantastic advice at the time I recorded this and would have helped our a lot. I now run lines that can get to a length where I can sit on the board and remain hooked in and have run them since around 2 weeks after this video was recorded. The class rules allow for these harness lines and I now do not know how I ever managed to live without them 😂

@@eriii276 I sorted the harness line issue long over a year ago. In this video they still were an issue as it was posted in December 2021.

Ah that’s unfortunate, hope you manage to qualify next year. Racing in Europe against the worlds best youths was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I am grateful that I am able to do so again this year.

Try riding along on a slightly more upwind reaching angle, then as a big gust hits, use it to slingshot yourself onto a broad reach while Mai ring weight on the harness. This should act as a big acceleration and increase your speed, I’d also recommend changing the space to the +0.5 or 0 as these have less drag than the +1 and will be easier to hold down at the higher speeds

@@IvanWindsurfing thanks, by the way do you have advice for slalom starts during races with a lot of people? that's the biggest thing the keeps me from winning races

@@lucascheng6674 I’d recommend training different timings and finding one that works for you where you can’t cross the line full speed at 0. I’d Also recommend staying foiling for the whole start sequence
