Bakersfield… the city thatsmells like shit

The new Venture cars are horrible. No food service on the Venture sets. The seats are uncomfortable for anything more than a few hours, and the lighting is BRIGHT.

I wish we had actual international routes out of SMF. It would bring in more widebodys and revenue!

Was lunch complimentary? And was there a pre-departure drink?

Glad you got to enjoy premium plus. I’ve got the same flight in October. Like AA United has a dreadful economy layout with ten abreast and seat width of 17” / 31” pitch. I pick near the rear in a couple two seat rows / no middle seat . United wants almost double the economy fare for PP at my time of booking . That’s poor value.

Noticed how Amtrak forgot to have celebration in Emeryville or point west of Denver. The Tuesday departure folks in Emeryville should be entitled to those certificates given out in Chicago too. We both should raise holy cane with Amtrak on this.

Thanks for the vid, i'm excited to check out the new Maple Leaf lounge at SFO. Some of the business class prices weren't much more than economy; so with 2 checked bags and all the service it makes sense.

I’m going to miss the 757 when it’s gone. As this bird was built in 2003, it should last until the mid 2030s. The -300’s biggest problem is long dwell / turnaround times, while the -200’s biggest problem is fuel consumption. If it wasn’t for that it would be a near flawless product. Probably the most solid and overpowered narrowbody model in history. Personally I think Boeing should have started working on a new narrowbody to replace the 737 and 757 when the 757 went out of production and had the 737NG hold the line in the interim, although airlines like Southwest and Ryanair swear by the 737 only. I just wish Boeing didn’t go the route of bean counting greed following the McDonnell Douglas merger. That bad business model could be their end and isn’t unlike other American vehicle-building corporations.

Great video. Lived most of my life in the San Joaquin valley. Most recent trip on the San Joaquin’s was my wife on a business trip back from Oakland. Great trip and friendly and professional crew.

Thanks for the SJ pub Greg, however, there is a dark side to this route. The dark side is the San Joaquin Joint Power Authority - an appointed batch of bureaucratic idiots, who along with the the San Joaquin Valley Railroad Commission (another level of useless bureaucracy), have decided to tell us, the travelling public how they are going to spend our tax dollars. These folks believe spreadsheets ride trains, not people, so they have removed the cafe in favor of vending machines. Can't wait for this next failed experiment. Mr Hume is the chairman, his is the first job rail travelers should make sure goes away!!!
