Mudlarking my favourite beach Part 1
A piece of writing I wrote about a month or so into lockdown. I’ve never shared it before
มุมมอง 1.9Kปีที่แล้ว
I wrote this short story about myself and how I was living and coping through lockdown. I wrote it when we didn’t know much and we were in the thick of it. I wanted to speak about the Sanctuary I found in my garden, in growing and how beneficial it was to my mental health at a difficult time for the whole world. I found nature restorative and soothing and wanted to document this somehow. So I h...

How to grow Tulips in containers/pots.
มุมมอง 3.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I filmed the front garden over 30 days. Showing you how you can grow Tulips in pots and containers of all shapes and sizes. Using containers to transform my front garden, which would otherwise be an unused, bland space. I use containers for an instant garden, to encourage pollinators, birds and insects into what would otherwise be a gravel space.
What do I do when my tulips are over? Can I replant my tulips? Tulips in pots, advice.
มุมมอง 2.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
What do I do with my Tulips when they go over? Will they flower again next year? Here is a quick answer to that, as so many of you have been asking. Please don’t hesitate to ask further questions! Jess x
I can’t believe my Tulips look like this in April, in the container garden.
มุมมอง 2.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I do love watching my Container Garden grow, and change daily. Taking direction from the weather, following and leaning towards the Sunshine. It is quite wonderful to see something new appear daily. Sometimes I see change from morning then at Dusk, on the same day. The Tulips are starting to spill over the pots edges, making them look a froth and mass of green strappy leaves. Creating the impre...
The container garden in early Spring
มุมมอง 2.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The container garden has started to shoot with this weeks sunshine. Crocus, Tulips wind Narcissi are poking their heads up through the soil in the pots. The days are stretching and the plants responding. We can’t wait for the Tulips to come.

See what a heatwave and then rain does to my front garden
มุมมอง 3.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Look at my front garden, after extreme heat wave and rainfall. It’s been a very difficult growing season this year, the late and very cold spring has had repercussions. Climate change is giving us weather extremes, which our gardens are not typically used to growing in, in this country and not do they thrive in. One week I have to water morning, lunch and night due to unprecedented heat, and th...

Grow your own cut flowers in containers
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
It’s been a slow start this year, but 2 weeks since I planted up the container garden, vines are starting to tangle, frothy plants are blending with each other and concealing the containers. Everything is going exactly as it should, and the warm sunshine means flowers are popping open in front of my eyes. Morning to evening there is such a difference. An exciting beginning to the new season, al...

Was this beach an old dumping site? We have a beach here in Northern California by the Sea called glass beach. Dumping site from the 1930s to the 60s. Use to have tons of treasures. Pretty picked over today.

Fantastic display, I also grew up in Essex (Southend) but moved to Florida in the 80’s. Wild flower seed assortments can be great. Part of the excitement is not knowing what’s going to come up where.

How lovely. I am now 75 yo and when I was younger I had a wonderful garden full of flowers and lilacs and lived on 2 acres. I now live in an apartment with a small balcony and have potted flowers every spring, summer and fall. You've inspired me, I think I will add more this summer. Bees and Hummingbirds will love it even more. Thank you very much for your video. Well done.

I would love more videos that explains how to start from scratch with very little experience, lol. There's a lot to learn about flowers, it's overwhelming but this was very inspirational ❤

My girls wanted us to grow some flowers to cut for own vase. All we had to hand was some wild flower seeds we've had sat for about 3 years in their box 🙈 I'm not sure if they'd be the right kind to use in a vase. They have just started sprouting in the flower pots too.

I tested out seed saving on a few flowers, picking while still partially green and leaving some to mature fully. The ones picked too early never gave good results and only had a small amount of seeds compared to the fully mature dried out flower heads. For example: marigold flowers picked while still green gave no seeds, if picked when starting to go brown gave on average around 20 seeds but when left to dry fully will contain around 60 large seed sticks. Definitely worth waiting in my opinion.
