Crighton CR700W : What makes this bike so special?
Do you have to mix oil with the gas? If so, forget it.
Just amazing. But surly all that aero is going to make it difficult to drive. A little bit too much slip angle. Downforce dissapears. Hello kitty litter...or worse!!
fantastic analysis
Don't know of any 5 cylinder production bikes ??
Given that the dampers and springs are in horizontal position in this particular case, is the suspension able to lift the car like it does, for example, in the Ferrari Purosangue??? In the Ferrari Purosangue, which has a Multimatic suspension, it is able to lift the car, but in that case, the dampers and springs are in vertical position.
£95K xDDDDDD no
What a belter of a bike 🏍️💨💯💯👌🏻
Very good coverage. Thank you for this initiative Craig.
I worked for TOCA back in the mad days . Its a shame that the budgets got out of hand and they had to move to control parts because the cars that were being built at the time were utter spaceships compared to these. Blame Audi 😏
We'd really like to feature a super-touring car from the late 1990s. Great cars albeit ludicrously expensive!
What a nice video! Very interesting. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Quite delighted to watch this video about the Formula Student entry from Edith Cowan University in my hometown 😊
Everybody likes a bit of destructive testing! 🤣
Apparently!
@@TheRaceBay it certainly has its charms but young Brock may have been a little broad in his statement 🙂
He's not the only one to do that mind you
If the Cars have the Mazda 787B Motorcycles have Crighton CR700W. What a monster
The 787B would make a great video. Does anyone know where they are? One is in the Mazda HQ in Japan but the other 2?
that is just fantastic
is there have 4stroke rotary engine?
It is a 4-stroke… listen again around 12 seconds in
FSBizkaia were our third place team at the UK competition, a great step up for them and highest-placed EV team in the UK. Great video!
4:52 what?
Great interview and lovely to have you join us at Silverstone this year!
Very good to be there. Hope you like the other videos too!
Thanks for that insight. Being an ECU-R alumni who was part of the 2014 team that went to FS-UK, it is great to see the current crop do so well.
While I applaud the creativity, this car is not competitive in the context of other Formula Student competitions.
I mean I could argue otherwise, it would be quite competitive at other IC competitions, and was on pace with Auckland at AUS 2023 as co-class of the field, so while it doesn’t employ things like powered ground effect, it isn’t designed to compete in any events that require it.
Thanks for the video nice to see all the details and the regulations. Thank you.
Thank you for covering this
Our pleasure! 3 more Formula Student videos to come.
Great stuff folks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i love seeing the insides of racecars, especially touring cars! thanks for the video!!
where is that engine in the video from?
The engine is made by Rotron. Don't Know what vehicle it is intended for
And this is why touring car racing isn't as good as it was. It's basically one make racing. Same chassis different body
When do you think the best era was?
@@TheRaceBay late 80s early 90s when the manufacturer's used the race on Sunday sell on Monday idea
I know its a Wankel etc But what exact engine is that?
Believe it is a Rotron RT300. The engine in the bike is a Rotron RT690
@@TheRaceBay Thank you thank you!! Thought maybe it might be the Suzuki RE5 So interesting seeing other designs of the same thing such as the crank is not geared to the rotor like a Mazda 13B and is on an eccentric instead. So cool seeing other designs which in my opinion this in that one aspect is actually simpler. Why did Mazda gear their rotor in the center to drive the crankshaft if they didn't have to? Perhaps insurance of the 3:1 ratio of rotor to crank phase?
Fascinated By rotarys. Understand that once running, they will continue to run, even after losing coolant & lubricant. Seems a natural for light single engine aircraft.
so why is it not in gp or sbk, i mean why havent manufacturers adopted it
This is a fantastic video! I've always wanted to know more about how touring cars work. Thanks!
TAKEMYMONEY!!!!!!!!!!!
Torque curve on the wankel is wild.
Where can i see it
Extemely intresting, great content this
Glad you think so!
how much? i take 5
brilliant engine!
What most people fail to realize... 700cc rotary = 1400cc piston equivalent... not because rotaries are better.... just that they displace their volume every revolution, instead of every other revolution.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙌🤙
Real interesting, thanks to both of you for the insight.
I think it’s track for a reason. Emissions was always an issue and so was fuel consumption. This has been the best modern update of it though. Great idea, just not efficient enough for all the tree-hugging-riders out there. Maybe a good thing it’s $$$ to buy and only for track, just bring it down by half 60,000$ would help in sales I believe. A Gen-3 550hp turbo Busa would be under 50,000$ otd including a brand new Hayabusa….powerful yes, unique as this?! HELL NO!
If a major Manufacture would pay for a patent in order to mass produce it (like a RR-R/SP/V4R) with Öhlins Brembo for 30K$ could make it viable option, instead of what is out now inline-4 200hp/200kg from almost every company now. This would be a great option, just not for 100,000$ rather a Turbine-Heli-engine with 500hp for that amount really. Still an awesome bit of kit regardless….
I sense that even Guy. Martin has a lot of respect for this bike. You take the best of four- and two-stroke-engine principals. NetPrincipal That makes this machine so powerful. Fantastic!
These BMW engines are monster after a few mods and a tune they can reach 500hp or stock internals
Not really a "few" mods its a handful and a good tune. But yea bmw really did a good job with the b48 and b58
Think 400hp is easily achievable with these NGTC engines just by upping the turbo boost think they are around 380hp so Dick Bennetts saying around 390 is probably about right not counting over boost and hybrid.
More btcc stuff. Fantastic
A dead end....Auto manufacturers would be on it now. It's all bullshit just dead end.
Great interview, and what an amazing history. I love the way most of the trophies are just placed on the galvanised steel braces if the building. Very down to earth setup and no American bling style attitude. Kinda makes us modest British rather remarkable one thinks . I’m depth technical content admittedly may not get you the million subscribers but it will bring your channel respect from like minded individuals ❤🇬🇧
Thanks very much. We're definitely hoping to bring more in-depth content this year and beyond and hope that it's interesting to watch. Trophies seem to adorn every spare surface at WSR. The workshop walls being the most prominent but also lining staircases, any otherwise unused desk, apparently any available shelf... Incredible numbers!
Suter.
This machine is a masterpiece. A Wankel freak myself. Same class as that 575 2T built in Switzerland. Just can't get on the guys name. Builds schassis for moto 2.
Stick that engine in a monkey bike
Madness! I like it...
Breaks my heart that this bike is way above my pay grade.
